View Full Version : After Update/Lag questions

We all know theres always some lag in GoW, and Im not sayin that there is anymore since the update, Im just postin this so that questions I have and others can be answered. I would greatly apreciate it if anyone can answer these questions, and if an epic staff could answer some.

-Annex seens to decrease my frame rate alot(everything become a little more choppy), has anyone else experienced this and could it be fixed?

-In any online multiplayer experience there is always lag, except other games compensate for it with client side hit recognition, while GoW requires the Host to recognize hits, which decreases accuracy for any other players. A lan game feels like a completely different experience than an online game. Could this be changed, is it a good Idea to change it, and does epic ever plan to change it?

-During a game on Annex, Some one would always camp one of the spawns, and would wait for my respawn invincibility to run out then boomshot most of the team. Is there anything that could be done about spawn camping?(I dont really expect too much of an answer on this one lol)

They better plan to change it I swear it is killing the game, it would be by far the best game out if it was fixed.. I just don't understand why they can't switch over to client-side hit detection like every other game it would be 10000000000000 times better that way

This is crazy, I tried playing Warzone with the Australian regulars. It was unplayable due to so much lag. Please fix it Epic.

Because they don't got man-power to fix or add it, same as the clan-system. Simple - they didn't had people to do these things.

Maybe they should take a break from UT3 and work on Gears of War MP because all they need to do is add client-side hit detection and the game would be that much better.. millions of copies of this game has been sold and if they want the franchise to continue to be such a hit they need to pay more attention to it.

I, now have many questions since the new update. And yes, i did notice some laggish type movement on annex. while not only that, i noticed that boomshot will down you. another little thing is when running, the frequency of getting stuck(taking cover and not meaning to) has gone up I'd say atleast 50 percent. if you run near a wall and have your joystick aimed slightly at it, you now take cover. host is definetly a downfall. and epic or whoever takes out weapon slide and chainsaw glitch, but they leave the infinite grenade tags in. and you take the weapon slide out, how incredibly lame. i mean, can you honestly in actual life not move when you pick something up off the ground. i know for damn sure, if i wanted to dive forward roll(gymnastic move)and pick something up in real life, i wouldnt have to stop pick it up, stand up, and risk getting my head shot off. and further more, in every one game i played in after getting the update, i heard people complaining about it. my friends and i are actually thinking about quitting playing gears now. they go and do the exact same thing as bungie did with halo. bring out another patch and then half of the people fu<king hate the game. and to end my problems with gears, with the first patch, the very first one which was to fix the chainsawing and sh!t, made it worse. before that patch, if you had a sniper in your hands, if they came at you revving their chainsaw, if you were at an angle to their left, you could melee it down. not anymore, and now, if they get around two feet in front of you, unless you are host, the chainsawer can get shot and just connect from two feet away and still get you. a complete fu<k towards the online experience for gears, way to go, ruin a great game.

Is it really that hard to add client side hit detection, sure they have to go in a change some code, may take a week, but its not like it has never been done before. Is it possible to change such a little aspect? Then again, from what I know, programming sh*t is way hard.

It doesn't seem like such a small issue could be that hard, and it is crippling the game, I would see this as an emergency and get a patch out right away. Is this not a major issue???? I mean if I worked for Epic I would see this as a top priority but obviously they do not because they just released a new game mode. But they don't have the manpower to add CSHD. Hmm..

I guess I'll have to play something else until the crazy post-patch lag issue has been fixed.

Bah, I don't want to play anything else though. I wanna play Gears dammit.

Yeah, I think we all do. I suffer from this every day, it is easily my favorite game but every time I play it I get killed because I can't hit **** cause I have to lead every one of my shots and I get pissed and quit. Even if I do get the kill, it isn't even satisfying because I don't feel like I shot the guy I feel like I shot the air and watched him die.....

If you wanna ***** out epic this is the wrong thread to do it this thread is to get some questions and answers, no badtalking

YOu get downed with the boomshot if you are close to it but dont get directly hit(or a teammate). Before the boomshot could kill you in one hit when you wernt hit directly.

Epic has already done a thread about sticking to walls, that was done on purpose, just tilt you control stick away from a wall.

As for fixing weapon sliding, its a plus. Now You actually have to think about getting certain weapons, and I love the kills I get from stupid people that think they can weapons slide but can't :D

Oh, and I discovered another problem,

When I down somebody there body goes all glitchy and move to a different position.

I am so fed up with this server-side detection bull crap just fix it already I can guarrentee you every gears player would be happy about it, unlike the patch you just released where only half like it and the other half come on the forums to whine about it.
