Hi, I feel that it is finally time for me to get my hands on one of those capture cards. I was wondering what you guys reccomend me buying, based on performance, quality, and price.:D

I've been looking at the Adaptec GameBridge 1410, and it looks fairly decent for a $70 pricing. Do you guys think I should go with this one or should I cough up some more $$$ for one that you guys reccomend?

yeah I have the same question..but I seriously will settle for the cheapest thing out there..so what is the best value capture card out there? not the best one..cuz spending like over 50 for something I will make a couple little montages with doesn't really seem worth it..

I've been looking at www.newegg.com and over there the prices are pretty low. The Gamebridge is about $50 at that site, hopefully the ones you guys reccomend are cheaper there as well.

I'm springing for this cheeapy bastard whenever I get the chance.

Linkie (http://shop2.outpost.com/{FnG2xv27R9Ws4PBFtPdW57G1xcQHvnnLPF22TTyfJZ0zlZLMp xwt!-1710844995!828444226!1173227070219}/product/4945601?JSESSIONID=FnG2xv27R9Ws4PBFtPdW57G1xcQHvnn LPF22TTyfJZ0zlZLMpxwt!-1710844995!828444226&site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG)

And iirc from CAG, the 1410 is only like 5$ more from Fry's so I don't know why you'd be dropping 70 bones for it.

And let's not forget, montage's aren't the only use. I'm a huge anime fan so I'm going to be doing the YouTube lameness and posting my favorite episodes up.

Most people have a Dazzle 90/150 or the ATI TV Wonder Pro. I think all of these are discontinued, though, so you might have to eBay for one. IMO, the ATI TV Wonder Pro is the best buy and produces some amazing quality for the price (around 50 bucks).

In that case, I'd wait for the Vista compatible cards if you are a Windows user. IMO, XP will be obsolete in a couple of years.

True, I have XP right now, might upgrade to Vista later on, but I think XP will still be heavily used until Vista has its kinks fixed.

The answer to all your questions....

Yes,this is the 1400 but the only difference is the tuner. I didn't need the tuner thus I can record very cheaply :).

Yeah, that's why I was avoiding the 1410. I don't want the tuner, I can output from my TV to the Capture device anyway. Anyone actually use this before and can post a sample of what the frame rate/quality looks like?

Damn this is gonna be harder than I thought. Imma start looking indepth to all these cards. And that link you gave hardhead, $10 is a steal, I might as well buy that to pass the time until a new capture cards come out.

Sry for the double post, i could've edited but I've gone too far now.:D If you search Adaptec GameBridge on youtube, you can see some videos made by one. They are fairly decent quality on low, and pretty damn good on high. Its well worth the $50 for the 1410, and $10 for the 1400 is just ridiculous.

I"ve been wanting one as well so that I could possibly create a montage.

Yes, I have one. I guess I could post a video at some point. I hardly actually use it as a recorder though as weird as it seems. I use it to play on my laptop when I'm out of town for work.

Quality is good on basic quality and very good on highest quality. As good or better than most montages I've seen and I'm not even a montage guy.

I just wish I can find a capture card that balances quality & price, then I'd be happy.

If you wanna buy the best capture card for a pretty good price lemme know. I have a canopus which will give you the best SD quality you can get. It loses absolutly NO QUALITY when capturing.

I was going to start doing this as well cause I had a Dazzle sitting at home.. The only way I could get it to work though is change my xbox video output from HD to SD which sucks really bad. Playing gears in SD on a big TV looks terrible especially if you are used to HD... So now I am looking for a cheap alternative that will allow me to run my components into a capture device, and then have an output that would go back to my TV.. Haven't found anything that wasn't way over priced.

HD capture cards are really expensive... the cheapest one I've heard of is around $800. I know there are some cards out there with component inputs that are somewhat inexpensive, but they will not capture anything above 480p.

Im not going to worry about HD capture cards for a long time, since I definately wont buy a hdtv for a while. As long as I can find something that does what its supposed to at a fairly decent quality and speed, i'd be happy.

you can get the 1400 for $7.99 at Fry's. If they have the 1410 in stock, you can definitely get it for less than 20. I bought 2 1400s last week at $7.99/unit, and i got the 1410 about 2 months ago for $14.99, i believe.

Fry's is the way to go.

It still got a 4 out of 5 stars. They rated it so because it does not support HDTV, which is not too bad since this product was developed in early 2006 late 2005. Even if its not crystal clear, you can't beat $9.90.
