UC2 community sign in: closed beta UC1 map

ok guys, I'm gonna do a beta test, and only you guys are invited.

The Zip will be sent via PM only.

THe map is DOM-Deserted from UC1.

Now DOM is not the funnest thing on the planet, but it can be at times, and this map will bring you back to the glory days of UC1.

It's proably not a map you played alot online, but in single player, it was da bomb.This map and Eye of Jahan seem to be memorable.Must go back and do Eye.I will: not that hard to make really.

So post and say whatever you want, and you'll be PM'd all at once with a linky to the map....:)

I must thank, and credit DG_Unreal with some help on this map.Snoogs had an earlier version, and he will notice the huge changes.

One of the coolest things about this map is the sound.DG showed me how to make the sound alot more realistic with zones.Really he set this map up for me to show me how...LOL

You have to have audio+EAX enabled in the audio tab inside UT2004's menu

EDIT: The is some foliage that has not been fully copied around the map at present time.Also the foliage moves with the wind, thanx to DG Unreal.

I tried this a little back but it wouldnt run properly. First it wouldn't appear on my map browser..(yes i did have "only official maps" unchecked) then when it did appear in the browser after starting up Ut2k4 a few weeks later, My game just quit to desktop right after the loading screen.

I have no idea what was going on. But nyway ive got way to much stuff on my pc atm that i need. And I dont realy have 4 gigs to spare to reinstall Ut2k4.. so im out.

There is absolutely no funny stuff with this map, so you should'nt have a prob in the world.

Hell I was pretty clean about package useage too, it might even work for UT2003, but I'td still need portting cause the weapon classes will crash the UT2003 editor.

Alot of time when you first add a map to your lists, it's at the very very bottom...Then it goes to the alpabetically correct spot the next time.

Well I always know you two are there.....I'm gonna wait around for Eena and a fwe other sto pop up, then I'll send alon the new vversion.

Well if ya ever get it.....what are ur PC specs Pigster. you might be suprised that you can run the demo, and proably play this map....

2k4's "specs" can be misleading cause really they are based on ONS and AS.Both gametpyes have HUGE maps, and suck frames like crazy...

Basically if you can find out if you PC is capable of running UT2003, then your actually in pretty good shape.

I still find it ridiculous that PC's cost 2-3 times more than consoles, yet, many of them still aren't adequate for gaming. Granted, I understand that computers have more functionality, but for the price - why can't they offer more gaming juice?

Now, I'm definitely content with my latest rig which I purchased this past summer...

However, once UT 2007 is released, I'm basically forced to upgrade if I desire to play this game in all it's graphical prowess. This expense will be roughly $250-500 bones easily. Let's see, a new processor up to at least 4 GHz (I refuse to overclock), and a new graphics card ain't cheap.

Sheesh, I sure hope so - especially since I'm still in debt from this PC. I really can't afford to upgrade. I should be able to play everything on Medium Settings - not that I'm complaining - it's just that I love seeing everything at full bore and having the Unreal announcer say, "Holy S@IT!" in the video menu.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely thankful - it's just that the constant upgrading to stay on top of PC gaming is ridiculous... enough so to make gamers migrate to the console experience for good.

My current set-up lets me handle everything I need it to play with relative ease, but it's still far from the crem de le crem - and with UT 2007 on the horizon, this might become a potential problem.

I definitely have enough RAM, and my CPU and Graphics Card should squeak by on the minimum specs - but my theory, is that it's still going to struggle. Heck, I can only play the Fear demo at medium settings or otherwise the framerate chugs like Fat Albert.

Hopefully, you'll be good to go when it's released.;)

I have a 995 mhz duron processor, 512 mb of ram, a 128 mb ATI Radeon vid card(not sure which one), Windows XP pro, and a CD-Rom. I can play the UT2K4 demo with the grfx turned down and get a decent framerate, but that stops me from getting UT2K4 is the lack of a DVD drive. I know, I know, I should just stop being a tight wad and get one, but I may be leaving in a few months(military) and I don't want to upgrade this computer if I don't have to. Unless you know of a way to get UT2K4 for CD-rom?

UT 2004 does have a CD Rom version. Just check Ebay and you'll be good to go.

Tell ya what, download that demo, if you don't have it already.

Then I can tell ya how to tweak it for your system.

Biggest frame rate booster/killer is resolution.Run it at 640x480, for reals.The menus dont look so good like this, but in game you cannot even tell the difference.

This will also allow you to up the graphics settings a little too.Also in the HUD tab, turn off portraits, taunts, weapon bar, landing view shake,,,,voice chat.

All stuff you don't need, thats eating valueable system recources.I turn all this crap off, and don't really need to.

Ok, I'll look into getting UT2K4 on CD rom. I just hardly ever order anything online, so I only checked locally for a cd rom version.

I'll try turning the resolution down and everything.

the demo runs ok in deathmatch at a high resolution. I'll lower the resolution and see if I can get onslaught running smooth.

I played UT2k4 demo with a pent III 667 cpu and 256MB RAM :p barely enough to run rankin :) luckily I got a new pc in nov 2005, hopefully powerful enough to run UT2k7 at low - med
