Its only the hard core guys mainly who visit these boards. The regular guys out there could care less about a message forum for GOW. All they want are fair matches. They don't even know this board exists, so gauging the messages of this board is not a true reflection of what people really want in terms of an update/patch.

get over it, you can't play with the fat little kid next door anymore. Go to player matches or don't play.

Here is what you don't understand. I actually don't play this game anymore, haven't since I got Rainbow Six. Furthermore, I cannot reccomend this game to any potential new players, I'll loan them mine if they want to play the single player and be bored of the multiplayer in a few weeks. This means less sales for Epic. Now, I know they have already sold almost 3 million copies, so they aren't hurting, but if they just rest on their laurels, I won't be purchasing Gears 2, and I will be telling friends to rent it before buying it. This will hurt Epic's sales. Word of mouth is a very powerful form of marketing/anti-marketing. Now, if they implement a party system, more gametypes, and actually allow customization without starting a brand new room, I would play this game again. I WANT to play this game again, so I hope they do these things. Or even 2 out of 3;)

Get good players on your friends list to play custom matches with if you want a challenge.I have no problems with this update and agree with this thread. You CAN still play with friends people....it's not the end of the world.

None of my friends play this game anymore either, there just isn't enough variety and easy customization. I love the basic gameplay of Gears, but that just isn't enough.

Doubtful. In the grand scheme of things, even the clunky lobby is a small price to pay to play this very fun and visceral game.

On a side note: Hey 1337 guys! I like this game because I don't have to aim much while running around. I've got bad aim.

Well, if the clunky lobby has stopped my friends and I from playing it any longer, I would say that's a pretty high price.

Agreed...
It's mostly new members who are making several threads about the exact same thing.

Who seirously feels like doing all of that though?

I'm not going to lie though today i played a player match and the other team was actually good...but guess what? we were all still missing the satisfaction of rising in the ranks while playing a competitive game...

thats like playing for the NFL without:
-your personal stats
-your teams stats
-a superbowl
-playoffs

Its fun to keep track of how good you are doing and comparing yourself to others but its also fun to play with friends as well....they basically made us pick which of the two is more important to us rather than keeping them together....which sucks

I wouldn't designate all the players that visit these boards as hardcore... unless you mean hardcore whine bags.

as for this....try using a serious strategy against your friends over and over and see how boring it gets. You need to have a serious competative game against 4 other players who know each other....thats the only way to have some real fun in this game

yeah he is right about that....i never even considered posting in ANY video game forums until this patch was made...i originally came here to see if any loopholes were found (besides the obvious ones) but there were none....I got pissed....noticed others that agreed with me....noticed others that don't play with friends disagreeing.....so i posted to hopefully shut them up

Speaking of which - I have friends that stack their stats in Vegas all day while they are at work and all night while they are sleeping. They get someone to host a match and leave their machines on 24/7 with rubber bands around the controllers.

Because of this, the game does not see you as idle and as rounds end and begin your guy basically runs into a wall or whatever but it's enough to register as "mobile".

The end result is gaining a rank you did not earn.

Every game has its problems. If you choose not to play one because of a particular feature (or lack thereof) that really irks you, that is your perogative. I doubt Epic is going to go under anytime soon. I also think that we will see team and clan support in either another patch but IMO most likely not until GoW II.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it. Like most everyone here, I have a group of friends that I play with and think it would be great if we could have ranked team matches. Just because we cannot I don't think it's any reason to stop playing (again, preference). At the end of the day, the only difference are the unlockable achievements.

I do feel for the guys who are having video problems on their monitors though, that should be addressed ASAP.

Folks, the point is not that this patch is the end of the world. The point is that Epic has disregarded the opinions of it's fanbase. First off, NO developer should ever make a game like Gears of War again without giving full attention to the multiplayer aspect from the get-go. The single player game was beautiful but short. It's the multiplayer that will determine whether or not this game survives. I appreciate the new maps, but I would have gladly waited another two months had Epic put their efforts into developing a matchmaking system that enabled TRUE team play.

This patch effectively removes the teamwork from ranked games and it takes the level of competition to a new low. Epic refuses to tell us gamers what their intentions are toward ranked games with friends. Are they working on a team based system or aren't they? If not, then this really is the end for me. I don't like Rainbow Six's gameplay as much as Gears of War, but I enjoy the ability to play ranked games with friends. A great game will not last if it doesn't satisfy it's customers. I downloaded the new maps today, but I'll be playing RS: Vegas tonight. Let me reiterate this. I like Gears of War BETTER than RS: Vegas, but I do not enjoy playing randomly matched team games. I will sacrifice quality for enjoyment and I'm not alone.

I feel like I've just finished reading a great book with a depressing ending.

There are a lot more difference than that.. poor competition and quitters to name a couple.

If you believe that ppl are playing together in ranked to "STACK" a team, then you have completey missed the point of the last 500 posts in regards to the modification of the host. Your ignorance and narrow minded thoughts on the topic, only prove you either a young punk, poorly educated or both.
