View Full Version : How come we never got to fight a Brumak?

I mean, it was featured in so many promotional material and we only see 1 ever in the game and never get to fight it.
I know this game was rushed, but they already had the model and everything. Just seems kinda wasteful, even if their were time constraints.
For those of you who don't know about the Brumaks...

time constraints, im sure it will be a major battle in GoW II....
Hopefully they do some decent boss fights in GoW 2... Not one in this one are hard at all...for a giant spider that towers above the CoGs it was way to simple to shoot it in the face 3 times and destroy the two latches...total waste of time.

Haven't fought RAAM on Hardcore or Insane have you? :P He was pretty easy on Casual, but he slammed my face several times in Hardcore, and that was with knowing exactly how to kill him!
That said, I was disappointed by this as well. After having to run from one in Act 4 (? was it 4? It's all hazy right now) to get to the APC, I really wanted to fight him :P

Would have been awesome to fight him at the end of Act 4. I agree that the corpser in Act 3 is much to easy for something that is as tall as 5 Gears.

do you really want to fight one? how would you? he has those huge rocket launchers! one shot, and bye bye Marcus! it would be absolute suicide. no vehicle could take a missile. and i don't want anymore vehicle fights anyways.

It wopuld be cool to fight that beast with a little help. Maybe a badass vehicle or something to balance the fight?

TBS Rocker is right on this one. How would you fight a Brumak? Maybe you would have to find a way to get on top of the Brumak and tag it's head with a grenade or something (ala Shadow of the Colossus), but I'd guarantee that Lancer rounds wouldn't work.
There is really only one "boss" fight in Gears and that's General Raam. The Berzerker is more or less just a "mix it up" addition to the game play, to kind of give you a break from all the straight-on combat. The Corpser is the same. If there is a "boss" in the mine level, it's the final battle at the pump station where you first see the Theron Guard.

yeah, the boss fights in Gears were not very exciting, fighting the berserker was kinda lame, only using the hammer of dawn? lame! i just wanted more epic gun battles, maybe having to find a weak spot and a way to make the boss expose said weak spot, it was just lame how we had to use the hammer on seeders and berserkers and then just had to push the BIGGEST MONSTER IN THE GAME into an immulsion pit...

It would have to be an on-rails type thing with you manning a turret. They could have you in an APC or a King Raven with the Brumak chasing you. I guess you would have to shoot down it's missles before they hit you and either pound on it's weak spots or shoot destructible parts of the environment to make a building fall on it or something.
My point is that it could be done; you just don't have the imagination to see it.

...
That would be the most boring thing ever. Especially considering the game tries to give you a bit of freedom in how to fight battles (what do I use for cover, can I try to flank them, etc).
In some ways it already is a bit too much like Timecrisis for the PS2.
My point is that it could be done; you just don't have the imagination to see it.
The point is that it wouldn't be a squad-based game where you get a little freedom when it comes to handling a situation.
And that is (at least IMHO) one of the fun things in this game.

this does not need vehicle combat. the driving part is pretty lame. we don't need more. it may be fun the first time, but then would just be a pain in the ass when replaying it.

what if (ok don't flame me if this is lame, but) in GoW 2 there were two different ways in fighting the Brumak. In Single Player you did it one way and in CO-OP it would be like the junker level. You get into the King Raven and Dom/Marcus mans the controls to drive the helicopter having to dodge the missles and Marcus/Dom mans the turret. After you dissmemeber the missle launchers on its back, the person driving the heli has to swoop in real close w/o getting massacred by it's claws, the guy on the turret has to jump out of the heli, land on the brumak, and tag its head (like some have said before) because the Brumak's "MAJOR" "weak-spot" is on it's head.
So what do you think? Awsome? Crazy Action? or Too Crazy?

that might work but it seems alittle too imposible. it seems to me GoW is a more realistic (besides the locust horde)game. try tonin it down abit. plus, jumping on its head is like suicide. its not like it cant reach its head

My guess is that since they were being rushed they were so focused on getting the chainsaw in the game that they didn't have any time for the brumak

how bought this, in single player youre teamates distract the Brumak and you go up behind him to tag him in the legs, but you have tyo be carful of swinging legs. and in coop one guy would distract while the other tags.
wat do u think

It's not that, it's just that the Kryll-Ride level and the Mine-Cart level were bad enough... Imagine the Mine cart level with a a brumak chasing you and no way for you to really get out the the way when it shoots at you.
Sounds like fun! Maybe we could make it a little like the Kryll Ride as well! You can only shoot when you stop the APC and man the turret!
It'd have to be a lot better than that to make it worth it...

BTW, why won't the edit button work?
I was going to add this:
And before you mention the AI driving the APC, have you seen how Dom fights? I'd hate to see how he drives...
...But the edit button just gives me an error message...

same thing happened to me, but when i used it it deleted my whole thread.
dont know wat it is
I think the only way an apc would fit into this was if it was used in coop. like 1 drives and the other shoots. then the driver cant see behind so the gunner hast to warn him of missles. i dont know how it would work in 1 player

I'd have Will Smith upload a virus to him from a mac powerbook. I mean, it looks half mech, gotta be some automation in there we can hack with a good virus.
Either that or I'd poison his kibble.

That'd do it. :)
I still like the idea of getting on the back of one and tagging it with a frag in the back of the head.

or a scripted event where you lead it into a trap on explosives which crushs him in rubble giving you enough time to blast its head off with a boomshot. Or setting off a trap like the destructible objects that start events.
