Patch Rumor

The rumor around Gears of War is they're patching it so the ranked matches are found differently. In other words, instead of showing the host name so others can find friends, they'll show HOST as the name rather than the tag. Any truth behind this? If it's true, I'm selling GoW. Player matches are boring (No competition) and ranked without friends is just plain dumb. Half the time, the people don't wear headsets.

I really like that idea. It would give us the best of both worlds. I hate the frustration of quitters on either side and I only pop on to play when my friends are on. A lot of people say to play unranked if this is the case, but the real competition is in a ranked match. The people in unranked seem a bit to easy for my friends and I.

See the Team/Clan thing wouldn't be that great. We need a system like Halo 2 where if you only have 1 or 2 friends online you can still join a matchmaking system and have 1 or 2 randoms matched up with you and your friends.

Otherwise you will always need at least 3 friends online playing GOW to give you a squad of 4. That isn't always the case. I have been on quite a few times when I might only have 1 or 2 other friends online playing Gears.

You will have a lot of pissed off people if they can't play ranked with their friends.

I know it's an over used topic, but a party system would eliminate all that frustration. Don't allow people to choose sides once they get into the lobby, keep the parties together on the same team, don't allow friends vs friends and don't allow the host to start the match with anything less than 8 people.

it's easy imo. I don't understand why it's not implemented. Currently you can get 7 of your friends or even just 6 of them and play 3v3 ranked as long as they join your room. that's so lame.

Heh, you're such a moron. Dude you would sell GoW cause you can't see your friends in ranked? And that there isn't any competition in player matches? you've never truly played the player matches then. I play with the same group of people all the time, and we have a blast, you're a complete idiot if you sell gears at all.

I'm not a fan of the Halo 2 system, it just tosses you with some people you could care less about, and no one says a word they just play. I think its boring.
