i dunno if it is just me but the render in the sig is really blurry
try a different blend mode. The avatar looks cool though. The text is kind of hard to read but looks nice.

Ty I'm not sure about whether the render was blurry before or not as all I did to it after cutting it out and putting it on the sig was set the lasso to feather 15 pixels, draw round it, inverse select it then press delete

Feathering 15 is a little high...I only feather 0.2. And I make my main selections with the Quick Mask Tool in Photoshop. I get seamless results with it...I usually make my selection, THEN feather it...but like I said, feathering with the Quick Mask Tool is (if your patient!) very accurate, so I only ever need a 0.2 feather.
Sometimes to get a transparent look, it's better to match the background with the same colour tones as the foreground pic, reason is, sometimes the difference in colour leaves results where part of the pic has blended with the background, other parts have either disappeared or changed colour!.
It's sometimes hard to get a great result with the "transparent look" so I personally stay away from it!...

I know what you did. The render is transparent so the flams are showing through. I dunno if you were trying for that effect. Try making the render be the top layer and see how you like it.
EDIT: Make sure the text is above the render

Needs more blending.
And try smudging the edges of the render.
Go for something like this. (http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n211/Kendall_Has_Stuff/GearsNEWcopy.png)

That is a little contradictory, as that pic doesn't look blended, or smudged. That to me looks like a standard cutout with brush work overlapping it, giving the impression it's blending into the background a little better. Which is a good look, but that layout always calls for tons of over exposure to make things more seamless.
Theres nothing wrong with putting a standard cutout onto a background without blending it into the background, it just needs to be done right.

I've never seen anything such as you've described done right.
And it is smudged.

1).Okay, example of a banner that took be 10 mins to make...does this berserker look out of place?:

In my opinion, no...and I havn't needed to overlay anything onto it, or smudge any edges. I just suited the background to accommodate it.
2).The smudging you speak of isn't apparent as the design overlaps the character, therefore wouldn't matter if it was smudged or not...in my opinion.

You did smudge that.
It looks good, but you did smudge it.
And the Berserker and GoW logo should be switched.

Nothing in that is smudged...the bit around the berserker was painting using the leaf brush with a small diameter in different shades of grey..., then coloured so the blues would show up in multiple shades. No smudging.

It's just a matter of taste, but why do all of your renders seem blurry? its like looking through a fogged window. Personally I like how renders pop off the image.

Blurring looks nice on signatures, it helps soften the overal look. But only if the original render was sharp and was blurred perpously through photoshop to get the desired look. And by that I don't mean a small resolution pic upscaled until it loses it's detail!.

Your nick looks too small in the sig, but I like it

um... k.. you reallllly need to watch some tutorials about how to make some signatures. you're good for a newbie. sure. but your text needs a lot of work, along with your blending. gj though.

Not to be an ass, but you spelled 'coming' wrong. You might want to fix that.
