Honestly it is because a lot of the good players only play cog. I actualy commend the people who play on locust, but sadly they are usually stuck with a bunch of n00bs.
I heard they are fixing it in the patch.

It might be because locusts are much bigger and make more noise than cogs locusts usually stick out of cover, easier to shoot.

I got 13 kills, 9 downs, and 400 some odd points in a 3 round game as a locust.
It's all in your head.

I don't think it's all in your head, personally. I've gotten the same impression for what I believe are a few basic reasons.
First, I think the only technical difference between the two races is the actual models. As far as I know hitboxes are approximately the same (if not exactly the same) for all models, so the physical size of the model probably doesn't make any technical difference in this regard, however it does seem that the locust models are typicaly larger and have ragged clothing that may or may not blowing around in the wind. This visual difference may be making it easier for the cog to spot the locusts more easily, also the coloration on the locusts (typically whitish skin) may be easier to see, especially on darker portions of the map.
That aside, I think the reason given above that "good players play cog" may hold some truth as well. I know I personally prefer playing Cog (though I'm not sure I can put my finger on why), and I could imagine other players do as well. I don't know if that means that better players actually play cog, but if they are more likely the people to be playing for longer periods of time it makes sense that they might gravitate towards the cog team as time goes on, causing a slight unbalance.
That's not to say that I've never won as locust or never lost as cog, I'm sure the game is almost entirely balanced... I'm just saying that it feels like I've noticed this as well, although like the OP I'm not exactly sure I've been able to actually prove it, but my gut tells me this is the case.

Lets see. There are 4 players on the enemy team, times 3 rounds = 12 possible kills, and you got 13.
Sounds like its all in YOUR head.
Or it could be a typo and he meant 12.

I prefer COG simply because of storyline through the single player. It sort of gives you a "lolrofflesup" feel when you're playing.
