My grandson wanted to play UT2004 last night and it kept crashing. Worked fine a few weeks ago. I installed newest video drivers and that had no effect.
This is a new one on me. I can usually get stuff working but this one escapes me. I tried it this morning just to get the error message text and no problem.. up jumped the boogyeman :).

If I turn off a program called AllChars the game seems to work ok. What the deal is I dont know but it lets you easily type chars that normally you gotta do with alt+ combinations. I cant imagine what the relationship is as the game would crash without you ever hitting the ctrl combo that did the characters but it was a recent program I had installed so thats where you start looking for a conflict where none existed before.

glad you worked it out and shared your solution.
