Gears of War2 : Prequel?

anyone else believe that the next GOW will be a prequel?
i sure as hell hope so... due to the lack of details they left out during the story, such as Who the Locus are... Whats the deal with Felix being in prison...Whats the story with his father... ect...
we all know a 2nd game is gonna follow... but like some suggest,they may put out a halo2 type sequel where they tie up loose ends, i instead, think theyll back it up and do it from the begining...

Wow, you know what - that's the best damn suggestion I've heard yet. I mean, it's really quite obvious, I just don't think people have talked about that yet.

I think that would be the best and most natural way to go. People want more story and something as cool as Emergence Day, and even the Pendulum Wars, would be awesome to play through.

Emergence Day would be great, sure. How about some Asphyo Fields? Marcus seems to have made an impression there. There are many things they could do. Personally, while I wouldn't mind a prequel, I would prefer a continuation of the current story arc and what happens after the end of GoW. They could always have flashbacks.

ummm emergence day is covered in the trailers... in fact alot is covered by all the trailers.... which for some reason are not availible on the disc.

come on why not an 'extras' menu in the options menu.

i hope that they use more areas of the plant "SERA" in the 2nd one . i think that they should have more diffrent monster. also i think that a beach shore battle (ala D-DAy) would be perfect for this game . i think that in the second one more detail will come out about the locuts and emergence day. i also think that we will see more diffrent COG members.i believe EPIC can do alot of cool thing with the GEARS OF WAR series. we just have to give it time

Yeah, What was Sera and why Marcus was send to jail. All of this is lacking to the game. The more you have a story behind the main character in the game, the more the player is inside the game. Single player always require Cutscenes otherwise it's like a ZERO, like EA's big boss said. (What a ironic jerk)

I too was thinking it could be a prequel, but I had another idea as well. You should be able to fight as Marcus in the Pendulum Wars. After the Pendulum Wars, you fight as him on E-Day and one of the levels would be falling back to Jacinto PLateau, and one would be going to his father's house...then that's it for Marcus, you see a cutscene where he goes to jail.

AFTER this, there were 14 years of the fight against the Locust Horde without Fenix. Maybe you should have to fight as Dom in multiple levels. Each level at a different point in time (not continuous like the current GOW). And then the last level is reach the Prison, and reach the cell of Marcus Fenix.

I think I'd rather see what happens after the cliffhanger, but it would have an awesome horror aspect to it, with the characters seeing the locusts for the first time and such.

And if he actually washes that Do-Rag of his...LOL!! He wears that Do-Rag do to the Phoenix on it, but i read somehwere that that was all about the rebirth of Marcus since he was in jail basically to die away, he then was reborn, which is basically a Phoeinix.

to be honest... i sense a trilogy coming... and its all motivated by sales...
what better way to sell games then to leave holes in the story line... AND end with cliff hanger? leaves you 2 slots to fill with games... put out the prequel so people wont lose interest after seeing the 'ending'... i also think people are OVERRATING this game due to the lack of actual good games available to the 360... its been so long since Halo2... or any other GREATS have been released that we're buying into the Hype... do you really think youll be playing this game everyday for 2(plus) years?... really.?... you can lie to me...but dont lie to yourself... this is a good game, dont get me wrong... but its just a filler till the next 'great' comes out...

Marcus is in jail for disobeying orders on E-Day, he went to try and save his father instead of following orders. He ended up in jail and not put to death for treason because Dom testified in his defense and because of his service in the Pendelum Wars.

To see how E-Day happened just watch the trailers that have been available for a LONG time they show that already.

Some questions I would like to see answered though is to have more information about Marcus' father and how he had all that data on the locust tunnels already. But personally I would rather jump into the continuation of the story and see what happens next. I'd like to see the story finished and THEN go back to the beginning and have a prequel after finishing this story line.

I thought about this. It SHOULD be a prequel. Maybe tell the story of how Marcus wound up in prison. They have 14 years of war to build stories around. The possibilities are endless. Hell maybe start the next game on Emergence day.

Holy crap, if they start the game on Emergence Day, think how much harder the game would get. It says that one third was wiped out the first day or something, doesn't it? Maybe I read it wrong, in the destroyed beauty, but wow. That would be nice. Maybe even just the pendulum wars, no locust or anything. Instead, it would highly revolve around the use of Imulsion, and how Sera was affected by the pendulum wars, the conclusion of the game being Emergence Day, where you fight against a new and powerful enemy. One second you'd be fighting fellow humans, and then, enormous craters begin to burst in the ground, and Locust begin spraying forth. Wretches crawling out of every nook and cranny while you are trying to find cover. Suddenly, a seeder bursts through the ground and polutes the air with nemacyte spores and such. Heck, maybe this could happen at the begining of the prequel, where you are first fighting as some unknown soldier when the Locust launch their first deadly assault. Then, the rest of the game plays out normally. but it they used Marcus again, they'd have to make sure not to confront him with Kryll. Yah, i know they are badass, but he'd never heard of them in GoW. I like my last idea better. Yah, start off right on Emergence day with an impossible level. Then, once you make it a certain distance, a cut-scene shows you, currently an unknown soldier, die. You then retake the role of Marcus Fenix.

yep, gimmie the cliffhanger part 2. Since the cog's dealt a severe blow to locusts they will have to organize and reform their ranks. The cog's have a bit of time to reform their forces for the final/next blow (depending on how many sequals there will be) So i'm sure a sequal would be as sweet as a face full of boobies.

I'm liking the flashback idea. for example (i have 2) when the first time you see and emergence hole open up in GOW2, you play emergence day. And when you see an important soldier die (a teammate or the general perhaps?) youplay through how Marcus was too late to save his dad.

Maybe the Gow creators are going to have the story like star wars did. Like how the first movie showed the end of the war! Then they will go back in time and show whats going on in the past
