Ok so I realize by posting this "y'all" (trying to fit in here in NC) might think I'm just trying to pimp it but that's really not the case. Like you, when I get excited about something I want to share it and the forums is one way to do that. So please allow me this minor indulgence.
Today for the first time I saw the finished collectors edition strategy guide with the accompanying art book and I just have to say "WOW!". I've personally never seen a strategy guide that looks this good - especially the hand drawn maps that Josh Jay and friends did. Then you add in the art book and it really blows my mind. The original art book that comes with the CE version of the game is great but that was more of a promotional piece where this new art book in the strategy guide is really more of a work of pride. The art team is very proud of their work on Gears and this new art book has been an outlet of that pride for them and it shows.
In my past experience the strategy guide was just an extended user manual where you just did it because you had to. This one is truly different. Brady, and all the guys at Epic that helped them, did one hell of a job.
<sigh>...Now instead of just sending a copy of Gears to my family members, I've got to include the guide too...
Thanks,
Rod.

Be sure to send me a guide as well.

The regular one SHIPS (11/1) today and the Collector's SHIPS tomorrow (11/2). We'll see how long it takes to get on the store shelves, either way I order my strategy guides online cause the stores never seem to have enough or have them when the game comes out.. for the lesser titles anyway.

Thanks Rod. I preordered the CE guide as soon as I heard about it. I had no idea it was coming with a artbook. I have been in love with the art of this game frome day one. What sold me was the fact the guide is leather bound (hardcover). I don't ever remember a hardcover strat guide ever coming out.
I'm going all out with Gears. I have: the Best Buy preorder shirt, the After Hours pin, Cog tags, poster, and an empty display box. All I need now is the CE guide and the game.
I figure I will have owned a piece of history (or shall I say pieces). I 've never seen a new franchise with this much attention.

I am supposed to get mine tomorrow(pre order from eb.com). I'm confused about the video content. Is there a dvd or do we get access to the brady games web site for videos?

So, would it be in my best interest to buy the Collector's Edition Gears of War or get the regular edition and the LE Strategy Guide? As in, would forgoing the artbook from the Collector's Edition be that big of a deal if I were to get the added content from the LE Strategy Guide?
Thanks for the help. :D

i suggest getting both the collector edition game for the art book and the collector edition of the guide for the art book but only if your a real gearhead.

Come on now, you can't be talking to me LoL. Money is the least of my concerns, but I was just trying to avoid a rehash of the art from one into the other.

Get both, if not for the art book do it for the metal case. Never send your soldier to battle without armour.

Amen to that LoL. I don't even know why I'm contemplating or considering contemplating (?? LoL) not getting the Collector's Edition since I have it pre-ordered, but I'm still hesitant on the Strategy Guide itself. This thread just made it that much tougher to pass up though.

Will be nice for studying the MP Maps. If they are in there with the SP Maps. Know your battlefield ahead of the game =^.^=

Seems the only drawback to shipping Gears is that I've become Locust and prefer the dark. :)

Thanks for the info, Rod :D
Maybe I'll get the collectors edition after all! The art alone isn't usually enough for me to get a CE
Would it be possible to see come pictures of inside the box, like how easy it is to take the game out?
