I was just wondering does anyone know if epic are planning to release any novels based on the history or follow on stories in the Gears universe or maybe they should launch a competition for fans to draft short stories and the best ten win prizes.

And if they did a top prize which could be that a part of your story will be put into Gears 2(if they make Gears 2).

I hope they do expand the gears universe.
Even if I don't end up liking the game, the story still sounds good.

oooh ooh, if you win, you get a prize to have part of your story in the game, and you show up somewhere in the game, as a CoG, Survivor, whatever they can think of.

Yeah, the multiplayer is a major part of the games nowadays.
But there's not a doubt in my mind that this game will be AMAZING!
From what I heard, the game does not dissapoint

I have so many ideas in my head i would'nt mind epic (borrowing a few) to use towards Gears 2 (if they go ahead and make it), I just hope they try to incourage people to write short stories drafts ideas of what and where the universe of Gears can lead to.

i read some where that Eric Nygen helped with the story line for gears, he also wrote a couple of the Halo novels... this is in no way a comparison.

they should def. make a book like the halo books that can skip around a bit and explain the past
You have to wonder if the Gears universe can really support itself, story wise. It certainly seems like it has potential for great stories, but I feel a little less confident after finishing the campaign and being fairly disappointed with the lack of plot development and backstory.
Obviously the notion is that stuff will be filled in elsewhere. But that then begs the question, can those missing pieces be filled in? And if so, why weren't they included in the game?
Also, I'm not entirely confident in Nylund. I hear the guy can write and obviously he's had success with the Halo novels, but if he's the one who wrote Gears, then he was either seriously held back, or he simply doesn't know jack**** about properly constructing a good story. I'm not saying Gears had a bad plot to it, only that the people behind it failed miserably to live up to the vast potential of this epic story.
I want to see Gears become more, in terms of sequels, prequels, spin-offs, and novels... but I have to seriously wonder if it's possible.

I think epic should allow for some fan fiction, I had read some Halo fan fiction in the past and some of it was really good, I think that Gears does have some great potential and Epic should allow the fans just to go for it and build on this universe that they created.
