They havn't announced a sequal.

But I doubt he will die in the end, they won't close the book on the IP.

Not officially no after all the first Gears of War isn't out yet so it doesn't make sense to offically announce a sequel yet does it. However it has been hinted at alot by the developers in numerous interviews and podcasts that sequels are definitely in mind and it was originally announced as a trilogy. So believe me when I say expect a sequel.

well if marcus should die, then they could focus the sequel if it happens, within another area of Sera, they have a whole planet to play with, i dont mind if marcus doesnt die however, but i wouldnt mind another protagonist to play as in the sequel. there are a wealth of experiences to get out of this IP, so why not go to town on it?

not a chance, im all happy like a.......happy thing, im loving the build up as much as i am hating the damn thing too! but im just saying, its very well to guess at these things, but until it is in my hands, and i have seen it (or not) then i will stay in my little bubble of grouchiness! but i dont see why he wouldnt die, i mean yeah i wont really mind either way, but i would like to see another persons POV in gears 2, if it ever happens (yea right, its so on!)

I just hope that with a sequel they dont do like H2 where you play as cheif and as the arbiter. I hated the arbiter missions. I wanted to be massa cheif the whole time!

So basically I'm hoping you don't play as like Marcus then a Locust then Marcus again. If you switched between COG that would be ok, but not like I said.

Anyways I just want to play Gears!

I just thought up this Small possibility.. maybe Marcus dies at the end of the game... being the Anti-hero that he is he might just give up his life to save Sera.. Maybe he has to detonate a bomb or some other device which cant be remote detonated...

Anything is possible with story telling.

But a cliche, "sacrifice myself to save the universe ending" is just not Cliffy's style in my book. From what I've gather Cliffy is straying away from as many tired, overused, trite crap in both games and movies as possible. We're talking Cliffyb here - the guy who's tired of the fasination people have with the Aliens franchise (I have to agree with him).

He will have some cool things in store for us. If I would guess, for business reasons - as this game is a POTENTIAL franchise (series of games and movies), that Marcus will survive to fight another day and make another dollar. :D

Maybe he is a chick!?.......or maybe the locust leader is really his dad that he tried to save but instead got pulled under by the locust and he got radiation from under the planet and has become a leader of the locust horde?..whata twist that would be:D

Maybe he has to go down into the LOcusts home alone to detonoate a bomb and then its the end of the game, but in the sequel he could of survived somehow

I doubt it... the writers are higher rent than that.

As for sequels -- its Epic's game... they won't make a sequel if they don't want to... they don't answer to Microsoft (most of the time)

Maybe they should make it look like he might of died than end the game, but for a sequal you play as the locust:eek: and you see from there point of view of being in this war , suggesting that there is a point of the war, othere than chainsawing your buddies:D

time will tell, why is everyone so intensely interested in the protagonist dying?!!

but it will be a cliff hanger or it wont, time wil tell and that is the only way we will ever find out.

seeing as how it is described as 36 hours in the life of marcus fenix, why not switch to a totally different person in a possible sequel? why change at all? i personally dont want to play through the whole game as this guy, only for him to get PWND! at the end.....that would be a total downer!.........

Then how will they make the sequel?Okay this game centre around Marcus but who says "IF" there is a sequelit has to centre around Marcus again it's the Gears universe and the brutality of the fighting that people will remember most not just Marcus, so if he goes out in the end at least he will have a hero's death.

I think that something Marcus did about halfway through would screw up the big plan to exterminate the locust and he won't find out until the end. So then the second game would be about fixing said problem, then the third game you would go about destroying the planet "Titan A.E." style

personally, I think everyone's gonna die, and the sequal will just be about a different group of people who live.I agree I think the Gears universe has so much potential you don't need to centre it around Marcus in a sequel it could centre around civillans who are apart of a resistence group who oppose the COG and at the same time trying to survive against the Locust. Or a soldier who was left to die in a battle and is brought back to health by a family who have been living in hiding deep inside one of the many cities and it his job to assit the family to get back to his base.

I think if epic and microsoft are smart(which I am sure they are they will make Any future games of the Gears of War universe 360 only.If epic play it right they have the potential of a game series surpassing even the Halo franchise. The gears universe can be expanded as far as they want and I along with many hope they do expanded this potentially amazing universe.
