I'm a dm player, so I like the weapon changes for the shock and RL. The shock rifle has amazing sounds, and will be so fun to use... I can't wait to get my virtual hands on it.
I like Jesper Kyd's music as far as I've heard.
I am very thankful for the claimed AI improvements (I play offline a lot due to connection issues).
And I want to hear that 'devastation' award!

I think must people hope its going to be better rather then they think its going to be better. You can never judge a game by its screen shots or a vid. Its how it feels whilst playing it and stuff like that that really matters.

Looking forward to DM with the new balanced movement and player/map scale.
If Warfare is alot more complex and interesting than ONS, like XMP then I'll be looking forward to that too!

I get the feeling they are going to get this one "just right". Not too much of this or that but not too little either. Vague I know. I am looking forward to a good offline experience, maybe even something story driven from the sounds of recent interviews.
I'm not considering this to be "the best game ever!". It's got far too few new features for that kind of an award (besides ... Civ4:Warlords already has earned that distinction).
So far the only mildly interesting thing is the enhanced AI and the little hints that they're doing something to make the singleplayer-campaign a little more 'cinematic'.
I kind of hope we get to see good cut-scenes that actually involve whatever model/skin-combo you've chosen.

At these points they are better than the previous UTs. That's what the thread starter asked for... ...best UT, not best game. :)

im getting it for the new tools and Kismet stuff. cant wait to try them out.
if the gameplay feels right, i may spend some time with classic CTF. but i know i wont be able to spend as much time playing it like i used to back in 99-01.

This Is going to either be the best UT ever or a Close second next to UT99, Altho UT2004 was Really really good aswell, but I recon UT2K7 Is just going to be better.
It all depends on the community It has aswell, The fact that its a High end Game means that less Arguing/spamming little kids will get on it.
I just Wish they would give a release date!, even if it gets released in 4 months time aslong as I know! :P

Personally I think its gonna be the AI that makes this game stand apart from every other fps on the market. Epic have always provided a really good single player component for a multiplayer focused game and the online modes are just great as well. The gameplay will probably be another major area that will set it apart providing probably the best balanced and tested in the series to date. The graphics and other technology behind the game are nothing short of amazing. Its good to see epic have gone all out in almost every area I can think of, this dedication and forethought to me is what will make this the best UT game ever ;)
As far as gameplay goes, UT2007 is well on the way. The only thing that 'll either do it or screw up for me will be the sound fx and music, and the presence of maps worthy of the name "Unreal".

The Music theme on all the other UnrealTournaments have been really in tune with the game I thought.

i am looking forward to the maps and new bot ai.
they said they are going to add more dynamics to the onslaught maps, so instead of it being just one big terrain area with nodes spread across, they'll do more stuff like putting nodes into buildings and such. so i am hoping for some serious onslaught experience improvement here.
even tho i am not really a big onslaught fan.

Omg the new Power Node looks so cool!, You have to destroy the little pannels on it.. I think thats a really cleaver Idea... I rate Epic big time for that!

seems like a small improvement to me. however tho, many small improvements like that may make the difference.

UT2k7 will have better AI, new Vehicles, better Graphics, new maps, old maps. The ballence will be great, the Razorclaw will be back (for chopping). And all the things I dont know yet!:)

i don't know, i guess i just trust epic to make this an improvement over 2004. already i don't like that the lg is gone and the controls are gonna be so different since dodge jump is gone also.
really though, it better be worth it because im gonna spending alot of money in upgrades just to play this game.
In some areas hell yeah.
Graphics-absolutely by far. Will run with Bioshock and Crysis I think.
Movement-no way no chance.
Weapons-most likely.Shock combos are just gorgeous.I doubt any sniper they throw us will match the LG,but we'll see.
Sounds-I think yes.
Gameplay-same as any other shooter I predict now that the movements are basically the same.
Environment realism and atmosphere-yes
Skins and models-yes
AI-yes by far
Gametypes-very skeptical
Maps-tough to beat. They will be pretty, but will they have the main element-gameplay?I think yes.
I like what I heard about Epic saying gameplay first, then we decorate the map.I will judge this on the quality of DM/CTF maps vs VDM/VCTF/ONS.I hope for good quality and equal numbers for all.
Server browser-yes
Vehicles-blah,but yeah I think they will make ut2k4 look pale in comparison.
Editor-very much looking forward to it and I do think it will be the best yet.
Security from hackers-not sure, but I am hoping. If its easy to cheat it does not matter how good or pretty the game is.
Music-hard to beat 99,but lets hope so.
You would think it would be the best UT ever since they have had so many years of experience with the series, but they can't please everyone so I guess the majority wins, unfortunately I do not fall into this category.I will buy it regardless because I have since day 1 and its just to awesome looking to ignore.
trying to remain patient and optimistic, but hearing alot of bad calls imho.
The Music theme on all the other UnrealTournaments have been really in tune with the game I thought.Yeah, that's what I think, too, at least only with the UT soundtrack. I meant with my post that if the soundtrack now will be more in that style I'll think UT2007 is going to be the best installment ever.

Ah I get ya ;)
I recon what Is going to make this Game even better, Is if they improve the netcode, Because Im from UK, and I could play with low ping with people in Holland france and west germany, but if they was eastern germany then they would have horrible ping on some servers. It kinda restricted some friendlys back in UT2k4... Altho I remember getting low ping on an american server some how... Strange.

Yeah ping issues suck.If that were leveled out a bit somehow(miracle)it alone would create some serious competitive and consistent play with one hell of community.
Nice and or good players or not,I cannot play on a Euro server pinging 125.
Too bad we cannot ALL play almost evenly (pingwise) somewhere.
Damn oceans.

One good thing is that ever since the dark day 2k3 was released, Epic has learned a lot about testing their gameplay. 2k3 had so many issues people found objectionable, it must have come as a shock. 2k4 clearly learned from that.
Given that the maps are all being played intensively before the visuals are added maens that every aspect of the game is being tested: the movement, the weapons, the game modes, the vehicles. There's just too many things that can be unbalanced, and I think Epic knowns that players will develop phenominal skills with their games, and rapidly be able to do things the development team and playtest pool never discovered. I'm thinking that they've got some of these types hammering on the game as much as possible, to find these exploits before release.
In addition to that, the return of UT99 music composers, and the addition of Jasper Kyde is all to the good. The visuals speak for themselves.
UT99 was unique, and cannot be duplicated. 2k4 brought the series back up to par. I remember my first games of the demo, playing Onslaught, and being blown away by the mayhem and fun of it. I think 2k7 will match this experience. I'm looking forward to it, and for them to be talking about another ten months before release is all to the good, I think.

Well we can judge what we have seen in videos and read in interviews and know to be fact at this point.
Also since we do not get much input from Epic all we have is speculations and time to kill.
Patience would be easier if they could throw us a bone every once in awhile too.

I can't wait for the tools.
The game has me prepared for a let down.
I think it will still be a great game when compared to others, but when compared to other Unreal titles: who knows.
The main reason I am not holding my breath for "my idea" of good gameplay, is the whole emphasis on vehicles. It just seems to me more and more they are trying to grab Halo players.
IF the game has the neccecarry mutators, then I'll love it.
I'm just not excpecting much, that way if it's great, I'll be that more pleased, and if it's a bomb, I won't be disapointed.

i hope it has fluid animations and exellent graphics, with the gameplay tweaked on the movement and weapons to be *ore like the old ut99.
This should be enough for me.
* to be more like, not to be the same

As long as I get to see lots of bloodied corpses flying around, the gameplay is fast and hardcore and I get to do some awesome frags per match (and other WTF, lol moments), then I'm soo gonna enjoy this game.
Looking forward to it, with great anticipation.

I can judjge from the Warfare videos that I think that Orb that hovers over the vehicles is to large and hinders aiming in 3rd peerson.
I want that changed. :)

Yeah I did say think, not know for a fact lolz
I'll be raving about this game being the best of the best with honours when its released then get banned off the steam and id forums lmao :D
I think I also mentioned something about from what youve seen and heard as well. I mainly started this forum to give epic some gratitude for the hard work theyve put in (bigheadmut :p) and to give them an idea of what people know already so they know what info they should release to further the buzz ;)

Too early to say how good it will be. If it can come close to being as good as the original UT '99 (which many people still play after having rejected UT 2004) then it would be a large accomplishment.
We'll find out two or three years after UT 2007's release how good it is. If thousands of people (real people and not bots counted as players) are still playing it online at a single time two-three years after it's release, then it was probably pretty good. (Two years after the release of UT '99 you could find thousands of real people playing online at any given time 24/7.)

UT2007 is starting to look like poorly concived ideas thrown in at the last minute trying to make up for the gaps in the gameplay, latest would be merging of Ons n War and the other gametypes...

I'm not sure what "last minute" you are refering to, but just in case you didn't notice: UT2007 is still far from being finished and Epic never claimed anything else.
You have no idea what you are talking about, and that's a fact for the simple reason that you cannot have played the game yet.

I see the same design flaws that have plagued previous Unreal titles untill Epic clearly shows they are not going to repeat this with UT2007 so far everything theyve revealed is that theyve exeled at doing just that repeating old mistakes...
All Epic has to do is show clearly that they are not going to repeat themself again...
Im not going to give them the benefit of a doubt not after ut2003 not after Unreal2 not after UT2004 and not after ECE...

What are these cataclysmic flaws you see?
On topic: Things that get me excited are the hoverboards, new node gameplay (like a combo of bombing run, ctf, AS, AND onslaught...genius!), removal of shield gun, removal of dodge jump, making the game more fun and less uber competitive (there will be competition, just not ultra-elite competition that more casual players wont be able to be a part of), less hitscan dominance (From what I can tell and hope), beautiful visuals, awesome vehicles (darkwalkers, wow), higher gravity (less floaty = good), destructable corpses, death animations, "DEVASTATION!", 8ball has nades again, interested to see the stinger (I hope it is near hitscan like mini but not hitscan like the original stinger...hybrid), awesome music, kickass sounds, better damage indicator , and last but not least (for sure!) is the "MORE IN YOUR FACE COMBAT!" statement.
I'm sure I forgot about a dozen dozen but you get the idea.

I almost forgot about this thread too, seems like people couldnt resist the flamage. Lucky I had this flame resistant suit near by to save me from getting hurt :p
Yeah you got it though Kharn, there is alot to be excited about in this game, there's also a big reason to worry because some of us are the most die hard UT fans and FPS fans out there.
Truly though this "MORE IN YOUR FACE COMBAT!" says it all, your right ;)

You're talking to one. Unreal and UT incinerated and redefined what I thought was possible in a game.

Well by far, the AI. Then comes gravity. After that the gameplay, then graphics, and then the physics. But on top of that... Lauren. lol, I'm serious. And I do have a GF but some eye-candy is always good ;) lol
