Does anybody know is it possible to connect the Back VGA input port of a motorola comcast digital cable box with the VGA port of a computer so that the pc can send the picture signal to the digital cable box via VGA and by the digtal cable box being connected to the TV, it displays the image on the televison so that i could play ut2007?

Talk about an overcomplicated method.
Most video cards have an s-video output, and most tv's have an S-video or composite input. There are cables that are made to connect pc's to tv's.
But if it's truly a vga INPUT and not an output, then chances are it is useable for just such a purpose..

If it's an output it won't work, and an input should be no problem. The only thing you might have to watch is that if the cable box requires a certain resolution to display. An example is my LCD TV won't display unless you have the screen res set to 1366x768 (it has Dsub and DVI inputs)

maybe he has HDTV.. which still isn't as good as a PC screen, but not as bad as a 1st gen tv..

or 1 of those 52 inch wide-screen HDTVs that make games like chromehounds look so damn good, though id think it would put a huge strain on the pc to generate that many poly on such a big screen. i wouldnt know i dont have a HD 52 inch tv lol. more like 28 inches lol.

well if he is using s-video it will broadcast a signal in 480i or 576i resolution, 60, 50 hz. i think today's video cards can handle that just fine, besides, i dont think the size of the tv has anything to do with the performance of the video card. the tv is simply displaying whatever resolution and refresh rate is coming out of the video card, i would assume certain TVs are the ones that wouldnt be able to handle high resolution images out of a video card.

my head is hurting for tying to see if this connection works and just had to ask this b4 I bought the parts to make the connection: Is the VGA port on the back of the comcast digtal cable box is a VGA input? cause all what i said in the beginning was only in theory.

It's probably an output. But finding any information based on 'comcast digital cable box' is proving difficult. If it's an input then there should be something somewhere that sets it as the input source, otherwise it's probably an output.

Yeah, you rarely see vga in on any device.. anyway there should be a marker on the box that indicates whether it is in or out.
Also to confirm what someone else said, All the vid card does is send a signal, it doesn't take any more or less power to render it on a tv, the tv does the work of converting the signal into a picture.
Again, just get a PC to TV cable.. here in Europe it would be called an S-Video to S-CART cable, but in the US it is probably S-Video to Composite, or simply a 2 way S-Video cable. you should see a little circular jack on the video card with several pins.. this is the S-Video jack.

your right. I got tired of waiting for the components to come in so that i could test it so i just got a old pc monitor and tried to connect it to the DATa port on the digital cable box via VGA and the vga monitor plug didnt even fit into the data port. so much for that thoery.
