View Full Version : Larger Translocatorbeacon hitbox

Nothing wrong with translocating, but I think as of now it's way too rewarding, and there is very little risk involved. Telefrags happen, but not nearly enough imo.
So anyone ever played Face where the translocators are flying trough the air, but you can't hit em because they're so damn SMALL!
So increasing the hitbox would make hunting transloctors more fun, It would still require a skilled player to hit one in midair.
Does anyone else think Epic should increase the size of the hitbox on the trans in 2007?
And I don't mean it should be the size of a footballfield, just to the extend where there's a certain reward in shooting at the beacon.

IMO you shouldn't try to aim at the translocator dish. Instead, aim at the player. He's a lot bigger and easier to hit. Plus, if you hit an attacker translocating towards the enemy flag, he'll likely retreat or start looking for health because starting a flagrun with less than 100 health is pretty useless. :)

Not saying it's impossible, but your chances of succeeding are a LOT smaller.
Basically, every hit you land on a would-be flagcarrier means you need to land one hit less on him after he grabs the flag.
I think its not so much the size,its the fact they are dark AND small.Instead of larger discs I prefer what Boksha recommended in a TL thread weeks ago and that is a glowing disc.Not UT comp style neon,but a trimmed perimeter of light or something.The trail is nice,but does not help see the actual disc much.
Telefragging could be a touch easier,but nowhere near 99 style.
Thats my .02 anyway.

MEH....Trans beacons are fairly easy to take out in the air with some practice.
UT99 had larger beacons, and to me it made the transy alot less useful.
I think it's greatly balaced IMO.

I recon its fine as it is, The best defence I got against a translocator is the following:
If hes coming to wards me and I have a Shock Rifle, I aim up and infront of him and shoot a shock combo.
And If I have a Rocket launcher, I just aim Infront and on the ground where I think hes going to land.
It doesnt really matter about the size of the translocator... If it aint broken dont fix it. :P

Yeah, I would leave it the way it is but adjust whatever weapon you're using to take it out.. or better yet, wait til they snatch the flag and rain death upon them. It's very satisfying. ;)

i wish they would go back to ut99 TL it was fun hearing i telefraged soinso, i hold the record in my old club. ut99 the trans was a good weapon i want it back like the way it was. it was amazing having a TL arena. that was fun. good times/ good times rofl.

Lets just add auto aim in the game for online use :that way what remaining possible skill left after the nobbification of the game in genereal will be removed.
