View Full Version : A Big Epic Slap

I think epic should do a CliffyB's 0wnage, where those who have created the very best work using the editor should get a big slap on the back from the boys at epic. Not just levels, but mods and movies. ;)

Is there really no sense in that statement or is it just me?

No, you're not alone..
At least he figured out how to get past the 10 character limit. ;)
Another 0nwage would be great. Epic should take a far more active role in the community this time around, with a more informative website. There are plenty of websites that do it for them, but Epic's site alone is a new player's first stop.

Erm...help me out here. I'm not English, and my dictionary doesn't include expressions.
Is "a slap on the back" the same as a "pat on the back"?
Or is this thread asking CliffyB to sneak up on everyone who dares to make something good with the editor and physically hit them in the back? ;)
Either way, I'm not really convinced. I wasn't around in (UT)2003, so I can't tell how much of an impact his site (http://www.planetunreal.com/cliffyb/) had. But if you ask me, community sites always did a good job of pimping the good maps.

True community sites alway do a good job of Pimping.

Sure, why not!
User-rated content that can be dowloaded through a browser in UT2007 would be better though. Seperate all the best mods an maps from the rest, get all the latest patches and bonus packs. It'd be a way to filter out all the Acronymed crap you may be forced to download when connecting to some servers. If you knew what you were downloading and could get it before connecting to a server it would be awesome.

Not much Taleweaver. Cliffy's tab in Community menu would've worked if it got updated much more often.

Well I don’t think Cliffy is doing anything on UT2007. I think he is doing Gears of War.
I will say I enjoy the community maps way more than the retail ones.Yeah theres a ton of trash out there, but there are 50 or more authors that I think do really superb work.
A more advanced community tab like in 2k4 would be nice. This would give them some more well deserved recognition and easier for everyone to obtain the goods, instead of searching, well more like sifting.
Mods I do not play really, but I respect teh time and effort that it takes to do anything.
Movies should be recognized because they are just as involved.I hope Epic makes things easier for the average user in that area.
Thank God for talented mappers. They keep the game fresh.
