Bring back the orange beam, sound of the shot and feeling. Thats all we igers want. I am sure weps is going to be fun but IG community are huge. Just fix how IG should really be like and a lot will move on to UT2k7. If it's the same as UT2k3/4 IG then it's your loss. I am not euro but to get a good idea of how many igers there are checkout www.clanbase.com . Most of us will keep pubbing in 4 servers and pug all day if epic can't bring back the original IG.

From what i see it's gonna end up being all looks instead of gameplay.

Even though I didn't play IG a lot (I mainly used to play nw tdm on a semi-competitive level), I agree with you. UT1 ig was simply way more satisfying.

Also agreed, I haven't seen a lot of substantial gameplay improvement in any videos yet. Plenty of graphics showcasing though...

Do you guys play turbo or hardcore insta in ut99 or just standard? I like the insta from all the ut games but I had a bit more time for ut99's. You should try super berserk insta in 2k4 on small maps it goes right off ;)

lets see, the long bulky model (ut2007), the girly purple/pinkish beam, the gun animation will probably detract you from the enemy/action in front of you (you gonna say "turn weaps off" ) well, in Insta the weapon model itself serves as an aiming aid (for me anyways) so i like weapons on.

oh and we're not talking about the shock rifle here at all, we're talking about the Insta rifle, the old school beam color is and will always be better.

The fuzzy flash beam is aesthetically nicer than UT2k4's standard sci fi lasergun thing. There is no impact shockwave on the shockrifle anymore like UT99. The UT99 shock rifle just felt like it packed way more punch both visually and soundwise.

Ultimately I'd like to see a mix between the two styles, where a laser beam quickly and very brightly flashes creating a channel that sends a pulse(s) of plasma down the beam towards the target, which explodes into expanding surface shockwave when it hits the target. The Sound effect needs to be way less wussy than UT2k4.

For IG, you should be able to pick the colour of your own beam like the Railgun in Quake3. I thought the red and blue IG Rfle's looked better than the actual Shockrifle in UT2k4 although!
