How about implementing a type of headshot cam for the shock/sniper rifles? Since the weapons are instant hit (hitscan), the cam could bascially make your cam ride with the bullet (even though it's hitscan, a small projectile can be shown) to the opponent's head whenever a headshot kill is to happen, kinda like Redeemer secondary fire, except a whole lot faster. It would basically last for a split second, but do you think it's a good/cool idea?

No, I don't think that's a good idea really. That split-second effect is only going to disorient players, especially those that are proficient with headshots. It wouldn't be appreciated by players I don't imagine.

The split second cam change would confuse players and throw them off.

Would be nice if the headshot would kill them.

Wasn't a similar thing in Max Payne when you shot the sniper rifle? It was interesting a few times, but it got old.
Plus, right when the bullet was about to hit the guy's head, the camera went back behind the player. It got confusing. :/

If I could have it in conjunction with a replay function, yes, but not during match play.

It would be nice in the Demo afterwards, but i think it´s now good 4 ingame.

I agree, it would be a nice slow-motion function or effect to have in the demo playback, but it would screw up gameplay. I don't think it would work in real-time gameplay unless the projectile was slowed down enough to make it workable, such as when you are viewing the Redeemer camera during guided flight. But this slowdown would make the weapon less effective.
The only other option would be a bullet-time mutator, and that would have to be a server-side include so that players and events do not get out of sync. I just don't see that happening because it would affect all players on that server simultaneously. I know that I wouldn't want to go into a random slo-mo because some other player wants to use a "cool" mutator.

THAT could be kind of cool. It saves all the headshots and replays the scenes in really cool hi-res slow-motion. The game would only need to be constantly recording and only have a memory of like 8 - 10 seconds. Would be neat.:D :D

Maybe for single player... definitely not for multiplayer.
A game called sniper elite has this and its awesome.
Your cam rides the bullet after you shoot so you can see where you hit the person and enjoy every second of entry and exit, but for UT no way.Single player maybe.
Theres no way I want my camera to leave 1st person at anytime in a FPS.

there used to be commands to do this in UT1 when watching a demo. Keep it in the demo imo, not ingame. Will dissorient and slow down games.
For as fast-paced as ut2004 is, why in heavens sake would you want to spend a split second riding a bullet for some special effect that, to me, is way less satisfying than spending that split second getting more kills and watching the gibs fly from them.

Oooh...I can envision this straight before me. The second you make the hit, your screen freezes at 1 second before the actual shot. Then time starts again at 1/10th of the normal speed, gradiently increasing speed. The camera gradiently lowers FOV 'till the point where the enemy's head fills the entire screen at the moment time is back to normal.
Then you'll see his head from behind in yet another slow-motion scene. Very slowly, you'll see the blood fountain up to where his head used to be, whereas aforementioned head spins off, still emitting a long, soft Ooooowwwwwwwwww as it flings directly into a wall, where it smacks open in a bunch of giblets that will guarantee unneeded violence lawsuits against the game. At the same time, you'll hear a booming and (due to the slo-mo effect) exceptionally low voice call out
HHHHHHHeeeeeeaaaaaaaaddddddsssssshhhhhhhooooootttt tttt!!!!!
Meanwhile, while the shooter is still gazing at his own 1337 performance, 2 or 3 other players kill him by repeatedly jumping on top of his head. That'll teach him being a sniper whore! ;)
I love these forums. :D Next poll: should people who died from the impact hammer receive an "Yuo got HumiliPwnzored by %k" in an ultra big hellish red/yellow font on their screen?
* Yes. I also want UT2007 to mail this message to everyone in that guy's address list so he'll never dare to oppose me again
* No. I'm a noob who cares about sportsmanship and equal rights and tree hugging and stuff
That poll is teh pwnage. You should start it and see what happens. :D
Nice reference to Pure Pwnage, by the way.

Err...No.
But it would be a nice addition to a demo file.

I want a Flak-Cam. The screen splits to about 12 smaller screens, each showing one Flak shard cam.

+ if there will be a replay which would be REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY COOL and Helpful. Then it would nice if after a match u could see replays of the headshots instead of just watching the match winners player.

a good idea would be a PIP screen that opens up on your display that shows the headshot if you make one ;)

Sounds good, ability to disable it would be helpful too.

Sorry, I really don’t like that idea. But how about bring back the spinning camera that they had when you got your head shot off. Remember that. Your head would get shot off and the camera would spin wildly.:D

Lol, great idea. Add a cam to every weapon :D Will definately make you think/aim before you shoot and reduce spam :P.

All I want is have the first-person death back. If I'm shot, I wanna die, not see a body dying. And when I'm headshotted, I want to see that head fly off! BOOM!
