Right now the way CTF is set up you get points for just about everything. Kills, returning the flag, capturing the flag etc. You also get bonus points for caping and killing the flag carrier at the same time. I would like to see a breakdown of the four main stats: (1) Frags (2) Flag Captures (3) Flag Returns and (4) Enemy Flag Carrier Kills. That way you can really see what people have been doing during the match. Of course in the end the only points that matter is how many times the Flag has been captured but I think it would be interesting to just see what people are doing.

Ahh good idea, I think these other stats are important because if someones on offense and has alot of frags but no flag captures it give the team leader an idication of there skill and what job to assign. If someones got alot of flag returns and enemy flag carrier kills but on a roam not defense you could perhaps assign them to that instead etc
It would be cool for other gametypes as well like ONS for players inside vehicle frags, Own vehicles destroyed, enemy vehicles destroyed, nodes captured etc etc.
Well I think you guys get the idea ;)
Agreed. There are already games that only show caps on the scoreboard when playing CTF. Though I liked the idea of it, in official matches for instance, a defender doesn't need to have capped to be a key player, so what you suggest would probably give a better/more clear view of the events.

I like this idea a lot, something like the scoreboard from the SmartCTF mod in ut99 would be great. For example (random pic found on google):

That is a great scoreboard imo.

Good idea, i'd love it if Epic did it but i doubt they will, but thats why god created mutators.

I dunno, this doesn't seem like something too farfetched to be put in the game by epic. It wouldn't even need to be as detailed/cluttered as the smartCTF mutator to be a major improvement.
I guess there's as big a chance that they'll at least improve on what we have now as there is that they won't.

Agreed on this, as long as the scores arent TOO clustered and they design the scoreboard well, it can only be a good thing.

Even better, perhaps let each player choose what information they want to see on the scoreboard. This would be configured in the menus, probably just a series of checkboxes with a preview screen etc, and can be done for each gametype. The scoreboard could be automatically generated based on the player's preferences.
Maybe this is taking it a little too far, maybe not. I'd certainly welcome the chance to customize this information, especially without having to go into any ini files.

Well you never know. It seems most people would like this information and if Epic likes it then there is a good chance they will add it. It shouldn't be that much to do really and I would just like to see the four main stats that I listed above.

I really like this idea aswell.

This is a really great idea. CTF is not just about frags, its all teamwork. This should have been done along time ago imo.

Yes I agree, and i'm hoping that Epic will finally do this since like you pointed out, CTF is not just about frags.

UTCOMP CTF
Yeah see you are all late on this topic. As people have been having these conversations for years.
Love how these people have all these great ideas, think they got it figured out, but stil don't play enough to keep up with the scene to know whats available, what works well, what doesnt.
+1 to UTCOMP CTF (once all the bugs are worked out)
+1 to Ender for all his efforts to get this mod out.

FB.ender created a UTcomp mod llike this, so you can see how many defensive points you got and how many offensive points. And then everything else is broken down a whole lot more, like there is 10-15 stats. If you want to see it go to tranz trix (texas), tranz trix (chicago), or Ugodz server. For teh ip of the server go to IRC channel etg - #2k4ctf and type .server
