Im curious to know how useful these will be in onslaught. Aparently when on the Board you can get close to other vehicles and use a grapple hook to haul yourself aboard the vehicle. This must mean they are fairly fast if they are able to get close to standard vehicles. One things for sure, the first node on each map should be up faster if all team members have access to a hover board ;)

You move 2-3 times faster then walking speed on a hoverboard.

I think its great thing, since your whole team can get to a spot at the same time that way.

I hope it will work out that way.

Yeah, hopefully it will eliminate people named "player" shooting at Mantas at game start to get it first. I think the hoverboards will be a good thing so long as the "tricks" aren't too over the top.
Side questions: In CTF games, do you think the flag carrier can use their hoverboard? It seems to me they might. What's more, could they grab the flag while on their board? And being towed by a manta? Can you hook onto a Raptor? Just some curiosities.

That's a vCTF issue, but my guess is you can't use the board with the flag.

I never heard epic say the hoverboard would be available for CTF. The point of it is that Unreal warefare maps are huge.

Im also wondering how many people can grapple on to one vehicle at a time. If its as many as you like then im getting visions of entire teams on hoverboards being pulled by one manta. This does amuse me and wether practical or not i will be attempting it

there is no hover board in ctf, maybe in ctf maps with vehicles but tranlocator is standar for classic ctf maps

Ya I can see it now.
Badger says--
"Ha look its p2xelgen, what an idiot he's come alone" next minute the whole team who are hanging swoops upon Badger's team and eliminate them. :D

Haha it could well be a recipe for disaster. One lucky tank enthusiast could spy my manta with entourage of hoverboard team mates and pull off a "team kill" with one blast lol.

That's what I meant, I should have specified.
If you can do a Manta run standing on the wing and grab the flag, why not while attached on a hoverboard? Your hands are free with no weapons. The down side is that you can't defend yourself at all while on the board. But the plus side (I'm guessing) is that it would be more difficult to accidentally unattach in comparison to standing on a Manta wing, easily getting knocked off by enemy fire or terrain.

Personally I think the hoverboards are kind of a corny idea.

i wonder why you should grab a vehicle when you're faster hoverboarding alone...
...and grabbing a faster vehicle does only make sense when it's just starting, otherwise you won't reach it.

I know what you mean, they could proove useful but also have potential to end up being really corny as you say. Lets hope the devs get it right!

...and grabbing a faster vehicle does only make sense when it's just starting, otherwise you won't reach it. Well the maps are going to be bigger and ofcourse you take a vehicle when there available somewhere, but when you lose it in the midle of nowhere, cause for example some raptor shot your manta to pieces then I'm sure you're very glad to have a hoverboard.
Edit: read it wrong:eek: ....Well with a vehicle you can shoot and I'm not sure if you're able to shoot while hoverboarding.
When I look at the video's, no1 is carying a weapon while hoverboarding so guess not.
You'd take a vehicle because you'd not only get there fast but you'd also kick some extra ass when you'd get there.

...and grabbing a faster vehicle does only make sense when it's just starting, otherwise you won't reach it.There was hoverboard use in the trailer, it didn't look that fast - maybe faster than the Goliath, but I seriously doubt it could be as fast as the Scorpion & Manta (I don't know about the Hellbender)
I suppose it's for grappling onto a nearby vehicle, rather than catching one up. You're in your base, someone grabs a vehicle and takes off, you grapple on before they get away.
