This community needs to push HARD for outside leagues and other organizations to put up TOURNAMENTS. In person, high stakes tournaments. We need to do for GOW what has been done to date with H2. THIS GAME COULD BE THE FUTURE OF PRO GAMING AND ADD ANOTHER TITLE TO THE LIST OF GAMES YOU CAN GO PRO TO PLAY.

Lets do our part and show support.

I understand ya man but Halo 2 was a crappy game to begin with it. Tournaments just oppened Halo 2 up for bashing and was overal bad for gaming. Halo 2 just has too much trash talk and racisim among players. It is sickening to play that game sometimes. I don't want to see the same thing happen with GOW. Going pro is fine but players need to be more educated and set standards of play and sportsmanship.

I think you are confusing Online play with In Person play. My team plays professionally at in person tournaments all over the US for GRAW. There is NON of the garbage you read about at in person events. Mostly because only SERIOUS gamers attend and that kind of behavior isnt allowed or tolerated.

However...the fact remains...there will ALWAYS be immature individuals. The rest of us must learn to deal with it. But...not wanting to deal with it is no reason to not push for a professional circuit to pop up.

As far as H2 goes. Saying it is a good or a bad game is the same as arguing the merits of a movie...its all opinion. What I do know is that the game has done great things fro Professional Gaming. For a team like mine, "Hammer & Anvil' our plans are professional in nature...and tournaments are the gateway to that goal.

Up and coming GEARS OF WAR BATTLEFRONT has its own ladder/league system for all GoW fans, so you can guarentee yourself one there ;)

This has been discussed. Hopefully MLG, WSVG, or CGS pick this up.

of course there will always be trash talking in games. but certain games are more "inviting" to trash talkers. H2 is not a hard game to pick up, and you can play and not care about what you do. thats the nature of halo, run oot there and hope for the best. GRAW on the other hand, sure some people treat it like they would treat halo and go out there with no support, but the majority of people on GRAW are smart, and set up flanks and other stuff.

im hoping that GOW will be attractive to the same crowd that makes up the GRAW community. to survive in GRAW, you need to work together. and thats what GOW is all about, teamwork. in halo, do as you please and you have the same chance. so hopefully the cover system will scare away haloids.

my only doubt is that the chainsaw will bring the haloids right on in.

Wow, this forum is quickly filling up with some of the biggest fanboys. This is off topic, but Kostik, how the hell can you say Halo takes no strategy? You must not have VoD or watched any professional Halo at ALL.

Dude, where have you been.?Trash-talking and rascism among players is in almost every game. People were trashtalking and being rascist in a game of UNO. Freakin' UNO man! IT IS EVERYWHERE! It's like cancer thats eating a way at the lungs of Gaming. And i believe if we all come together we can find the cure,......or not.

It'll be based on its success. If it flops, no one will be playing it and therefore no ladders. If its a wild success, everyone will play it and tournaments and ladders will just happen.

Money prizes? No thanks - that's the wrong atmosphere to play a game in my opinion.

I'm with you, but so many aren't.

This pro thing is virulent. MLG are getting bigger and bigger sponsorships and the latest montages by 'pro players' include CGI-enhanced intros. All over Xbox Live all one hears is rumours surrounding the latest pro-videos and tips and certain game developers have started providing interviews etc with 'pros' as part of their PR work.

PR is actually an interesting way to view the thing. If one believes a video-game is not a game, but a sport, then it begins to alter the list of potential rewards for playing that game. If one believes that they can attain real social esteem for being more skilled at a game, one will try harder to get there. Trying harder, by the way, means playing more often.

The way I see it this phenomenon will improve only if, in the future, a conscious decision is taken by game developers (and it would only be certain game developers) to build a game from scratch for the purpose of tournament gaming. This way the tournament standards are set by game developers who build a game expressly for that purpose. Surely this would include a heavy emphasis on the difference between playing the game in a tournament environment and playing the game for practice and fun over the internet. This is the kind of perspective I believe should be pushed... for what should be obvious reasons.

In the meantime it's up to the likes of MLG to manage their growing community and popularity by sending out the right message to the many young (and older) people who enjoy participating in their game tournaments.

Evidently, you're not a competitive gamer then - stick to playing casually/recreationally. :o

Hades and I have already been in contact with CAL. He's also contacted WSVG and CGS.

MLG imo will just ruin Gears if they decide to pick the game up. Chances are they won't pick it up though, it's too complicated for Halo kids to play.

If Epic delivers and the game is fun and takes a good amount of skill I do hope a gaming league picks it up. I know a lot of people believe Gears of War multiplayer won't be that good a lot of people bring up how UC2 was a complete bust(personally I loved UC2) but I believe EPIC will deliver. I know Halo 2 is a very popular game but so many people continue to play the game just because of MLG tournaments, Gears of War would only benefit if a league like CGS, MLG would pick it up.
