I’m wondering how good the lighting engine for UT2007 is going to be compared to UT2004. On BU a comment got me thinking. A level designer who’s working with Unreal3 made comments on the differences between BSP and Mesh lighting. Basically he says meshes light A1, really well but lighting for BSP has sort of stud-still. :D

I am thinking of doing a basic layout in UT2004 and import it into max 7 so that I can begin work on a level for UT2007. Is it true that meshes light A1 and if so do I have to model in a different way to now…

Meshes get per-pixel lighting and shadowing, as does BSP. So in theory there won't be any difference in how they look.

You won't need to model in a different way, AFAIK.

the only quote i can come up with:

..and besides making theese enviroments feel more real, they were great examples of what UnrealEngine3 does well
which is --ahh-- detailled lighting on very high detailled enviroments.

So I am told :D

My curse of UT004 was Vertex-Lighting. No matter on the mesh I would get piss poor lighting. Only last month I found out why :o. I did'nt realize I could turn Triangles. :D

No need to worry anymore with Vertex-Lighting & Triangles....

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :D :D :D
