Im just curious if Gears of War will have female soldiers. I know there is Anya but shes doesn't seem to fight, but i was wondering about the multiplayer aspect if there will playable female characters. Anyone can confirm?

Thank you :D

I think that Gears of War has too much testosterone for there to be female playable characters. For dainty, beautiful women to be wearing heavy armor isn't very likely. No offense to the fairer sex, its just my opinion. If there are going to be females they're probably going to look like drag queens. The thing about Halo was that it was unisex armor and in Metroid you found out you were playing a girl at the end, you couldn't tell.

Unreal Tournament has females in bulky armour. Same with many other games! It wouldn't bother me either way. Girls exist outside! Strange I know. I'm not too concerned if I get to play as one or not.

I dont care if I play as a girl in a game, All the more things to look at if your playing a next gen game.So much more detail and shape to the bodily figure.

Yeah, but this is Gears Of War. Chainsawing, explosions, ball-punching, action to the MAAAXXX. If Chuck Norris was a videogame, than he would be Gears of War.
After i play this game, my testosterone level will be so high that i will be dragging on the ground, if you know what i mean.:D

Ermmm...it goes against my nature to brush my chainsaw against a female.

Then again, I have no problem with shooting them...
So uh, yeah, it'd be cool to have female soilders

Nah, ultimately it's a videogame. Players vs. players, players vs. computer. If the 3D models are of females, kay sarah sarah. It's all the same in the end. If you want testosterone, go play some rugby.

I think Chaos is thinking more from the point of via of casting for his Machinima; if there's no female characters it will kind of limit the characters that can be written for it. Ah well... I hope they do have women models, otherwise it is rather sexist I have to say. Women are excellent bad ass soldiers, it wouldn't make sense they wouldn't fight alongside the men.

- Not as physically strong.
+ Faster.
+ More graceful.
+ Higher pain tolerance.
+ PMT.

Saying its sexist not to include women is a bit of a feminist thing to say (psst, guys can be feminists too before you correct me). All your points are fairly subjective anyway, being that all of them bar PMT can go either way.

There's plenty of women out there who are stronger than me, not as fast as me, not as graceful as me (what the hell?) and have a lower pain tolerance than me. If a female suits the story, put them in. If a male character suits the story, put him in. If you don't feel the need to put any females in, don't.

Last year I did a HL2 mod as a uni assignment, and the lecturer asked me if I saw any gender issues involved in making such a testosterone-fuled romp. I replied "Some girls play action games, others don't. If a girl wants to play this mod, I couldn't care less. You could write an entire thesis on girls in gaming, and some people already have. If there's a gender issue inherent in my project, it's not my problem. It's theirs." Several females in the lecture hall gagged in disbelief. Several guys laughed.

My point is, gender is digital. It's one or the other. If a guy gets in, it's sexist. If a woman gets in, it's equality? Bull****. Use whatever works.

heh, I know where you're coming from Ein, it can go "to far" the other way. It's like these "women only" clans and conventions that are happening - we'd be fricking killed if we did "men only" clans etc.

What I'm getting at here is the choice to play with a female model in MP. I've love girls to be able to play this game if they want to and look female. Say there was a kick ass game that we wanted to play and all the chars were female - sure we'd play it, but we'd be more comfortable playing as male models? (heh, maybe don't answer that).

More specifically to ChaosKnights reason for his question, his Machinima was going to have a female character - they may have to scrub it.

Having said ALL that I'm not sure I'd like to see what a female Locust looks like :D I bet they call her "Hilda".

For sure. I'd have more respect for a girl playing in an average clan than I would for some "gamr grrrl" in a female-only "lol u play leik a guy ^_^" clan. Way to re-enforce the segregation, dumbarse. But that's more about the players than the characters.

For the machinima, just ask a female to do the voice of one of the pre-existing male characters. Problem solved!

i really dont see them putting females in the game. only because i think they would have annonced something in the form of a girl by now. and like someone else said, i would feel akward chainsawing a girl.

Yup, thats why i was asking. I can probably still get the female Locusts considering all those things are ugly as hell >.< but yea i can understand if they don't wanna put in women in the game... personally I wouldn't want to see a woman be chainsawed to death even if its a game ^_^ Oh well i guess I have to re-write a couple things =D

I always found myself playing with Sapphire (the blond female in UT, and No. Not in that way -.-) in unreal Tournament. so yeah. Gears of War should get a few Female Characters in the game.

I dont see whats the problem with that really. there is currently one female locusts...i think..lol. Carmine model could easily be a female if you redo the voice.. However Chainsawing is a part of the game. in ut you can instagib the female player models..wich splatters them around the screen. so chainsawing isnt that much of a problem either.

I play Gears with a girl who plays. I dont think that once she complained about there not being a girl character. She also has no problems with chainsawing people and she is deadly with a shotgun. Shes good though, Ive seen her wreck teams before.
