Weapons that really kill ...no more shooting a guy for 30 seconds, some good player voices,(no more garbled generic stuff),players that are EASY to see,anywhere on a map,no lame player skins..like the matrix etc.... good red and good blue color on player skins and in equal amounts on all skins....and for me personely i want a great shock beam ,please no more solid laser lines or spirals the UT99 beam had a great animation when it hit a target or wall and it was a pulse of light ...best evar...2007 i just hope you are a good game..:)

A clear and usefull train and help utillity that makes it a lot easier for beginners to learn the game so we don't need to play against total useless players anymore.

I'm also curious about the Darkwalker. I'm curious to know if whether or not the legs are actually just pre-made animations, or if they actually adapt to the ground around them. For example, If I'm on a slope, will the legs conform to the terrain, or will we see a type of 'floating effect' if say two legs are grounded but the other one is just 'floating' because it's not touching anything.

I've seen it hundreds of times that ppl wanted to heal the core or wanted to destroy a locked node. So for gametypes like Onslought and the new Warfare it would be nice if there was some clear and easy source of info so total beginners or born useless players can get the basics easilly.

For gametypes like DM there's indeed not much to learn.

For gametypes like DM there's indeed not much to learn.

There is already a tutorial that explains onslaught thoroughly. It's in the main menu of the Onslaught map selection. That's pretty much as specific as you can get when it comes to instructing someone how to play. It's a full video, so there is no excuse for people. At that point, it's just a matter of them being morons or fooling around (sometimes when my team is getting rocked, just for humour I type to my team 'Heal core!'). In either scenario, Epic can't control it.

I want to make some custom Voice Packs for UT2007, just like I could with the other ones. Hopefully Paul Catalano will update the Voice Packager.

I was looking forward to it a lot, be recently after watching a lot of videos and reading about it, well if you take out the new graphics, then it almost only look like an expansion to UT2004, i could be wrong, but if there aint that much of a difference gameplay wise from UT2004 to UT2007 then ill properly stick to UT2004, i got a amd3000+ 64 1 gb ram and a geforce 7600GT, and why play UT2007 when you can run almost the same game a lot better, im not whining but it would have been cool to have a little more change in the UT world. The things i think could be cool in a new UT, would be the ability to almost make your own charecter, when you personalize a game more then it always become a lot better i think.

The short response: Go play WOW or planetside.

The longer more sensitive response: Consider the UT community. They appreciate evolution I' am sure (especially technical/graphical evolution) but what they want at heart is essential a UT GAME. The core and fundamentals that make UT, fast pace DM, great frags and a largely static set of classic weapons are what make the game what it is. To radically change the game would most likely lead to the feeling of betrayal on the part of the UT veterans and casual UT fans alike.

As I said certain changes and evolution of UT is what many appreciate... always chasing 'perfection' is one way of putting it... but significant changes to UT is not the point of successive iterations of the UT legacy.

better bot ai is allready announced. they hyped it quite a bit in the earlier
interviews. such as how bots get more "personality" and how they talk to each other and understand complex sentences.

Example: in 2k4s Ons they sometimes dont link nodes when youre powering it up yourself. You can have like two bots next to you and they just walk around not helping. Sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. And even when the node has been fully charged they just roam around the area and not moving forward into battle.

Ive seen bots get into vehicles and imediately jump out leaving the vehicle useless at that spot. For some reason they dont like the hellbender. Ive seen bots run across maps from the base leaving the hellbender at the base. They seem to prefer the other vehicles though. Also a command to tell bots to stay out of the vehicle that your driving which you prefer on your own would be nice.

Ive seen bots sit in ground turrets that were waaaay out of the battlefronts and were just chilling there which rendered them useless.

Another problem is enemy bots at how they seem to always focus on you when your far away and 3 of your team bots are right next to him and he's just concentrating on firing at you.

There are others but I cant thinnk of them now.

They said multiple them how they work hard to make the bots much more enjoyable. Although that doesn't mean they WILL be smarter and better to play with, I think your wish is actually going to be true.

You are correct BUT like in 2k4 evry server you get on kicks you for having voice packs i love using the old UT voices but there are only a handfull of servers that i can do it on ANTIO TCC kicks you ,i am sure it can beconfigured not to BUT server admins probably do not even read the read me file...:)

Thing I'm looking forward to are all the new characters and their bio's. :)

I've always been a big character-fan. With UT2003 and 2004 too, the first thing I did when launching up was go to Settings and take my time to give all those new shiny personalities a GOOD look.. check out their teams colors.. read their bio's..

Can't wait to do the same with 2007. Especially with the new, awesome looking graphics I figure I can enjoy myself quite a while at the character selection screen. :D

New AI. I still contend UT AI will not be perfect until I can talk smack and hear it dynamically come back at me, play a match against a bot then take him out for a virtual drink afterward to make amends for hurting his feelings. I'm also all about the new eye candy and more powerful weapons, I'm looking forward to just about everything really.

::Edit:: I would additionally love to be able to mix the skill levels of bots as it would add another level of variety to the game

One can hope, but I don't have a lot of confidence in Epic's ability to package things up nicely.

Their development approach seems like it is too iterative with not enough tools for manipulating and moving content between packages to do a decent organisational job.

Even if the ai is dissapointing, I just wanna play it. Like is said on the BU forums, it kinda gives me gooseflesh when I realise that I could seriously end up playing a game that fantasticly awesome. They've been giving a huge amount of attention to detail, as you can see in the latest trailer. For instance, they have those shielding blocks around the top of each node, like the powercore. Most games would have those blocks just appear in place as the node develops, but in UT2007, they swirl up from the base of the node. AWESOME!!

I played UT2K4 to death. I was big in the vCTF community.

Since I viewed the latest trailer for '07, I dusted off my SE edition of 2k4 and started playing again.

What I am looking for, is more of a "sandbox" feel to the game.

When playing ONS (lately) it seems very "formulaic" and laborious. Perhaps it is the public servers I am playing on.

Maybe I'm weary of the "rock, paper, scissors" approach... perhaps we need a hand grenade and a sledge hammer thrown in the mix. I guess that's what I'm wishing for.

Does that make any sense?

I mainly just want to see if they are going to disappoint by drastically changing or removing certain things that I feel hurt what I like about the game and gametypes.Theres no question it will be intense,fun,and awesome to look at.

I pray they do not compromise bling for gameplay.Who cares how pretty it is if it will not run smoothly on most decent rigs.I am really excited to see this engine in hi res on a good rig though.Yum!

Security-I mean honestly,if they can spend a ton of time and or $ on protecting their product from pirating,why not treat hack protection with the same level of importance?

I paid full price for these games the week they came out since 99 so strong in game out of the box punk protection would be the greatest gift they could give me in this game.THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMMUNITY.

I do not mind all of this new vehicle stuff as its to bring new players mainly just so long as they do not mess with the standard CTF and DM.If I want a vehicle in my CTF,I would go play VCTF so I hope thats easily excluded.

I am also curious to see if they are going to screw up the trans more.We went from unlimited trans to 6.A bit drastic if you ask me even with a farther throw.

New gametypes sound worthy of a run even though alot of players will more than likely just be in vehicles with minimal ground combat.

I heard a 1000% increase in lighting detail which has to equal some serious beauty.

Also to see if StarForce will be included because I will not buy it.I will suffer yeah,but I am just pissy like that about certain stuff.Why should I have to pay the price for punks pirating when I always buy new,pay full price,and actually refer new customers to epic by turning friends onto this awesome game.That would be a hell of to show appreciation to the people who pay their salaries if you ask me.

The characters and maps are looking very sweet thus far from what the pics and vids show.

Cant wait to get a good laugh from the hoverboards and the spaghetti legged Dark Walker.(looks drunk)

Improved clan match and tourny support, with much easier admin for simple stuff like:
turning off amp/other unwanted features (eg superweapons)
changing gametypes/restarting a map instantly (without a restart)
Standard settings for organised team play in any gametype, that people will want to stick to without having to mess about with the server too much.

Also i would love to see some quality CTF maps that play like a dream.

Of course tons of modding and mapping capabilites :)

More importantly though I'd like to see some admin server functions added that would be very useful.

1) ability to Global ban players from voice chat using their GUID. (Some people just cannot handle using the mic in a game oriented fashion and think it's an opportunity to be a cyber DJ playing their favorite muzak that sucks to everyone else.)

2) Session kicks with session amount.

3) pinglimiter to keep the 56Kers off. (really messes up a 22 player game if you have one or two 56kers join or too far away ISP clients)

4) a kick idler that kicks live people in game as well as dead... and doesn't kick if the person is moving the mouse (or else snipers would get kicked like UT2004 if kickliveidlers is active)

5) divide the mapvote list into two sections, the played maps in their own column and the unplayed in another.

That's about it... weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hell no, really hope they are not gonna include something liek that, never been a big quake 3 player, liked UT better :) So i would just give the multiplayer a go in quake 4, but damn, that sound when you constantly just hit one is the most irratating sound in the world. Well I've played a lot of Onslought in the past and noticed that many ppl had no clue what they're doing. I've seen it hundreds of times that ppl wanted to heal the core or wanted to destroy a locked node. So for gametypes like Onslought and the new Warfare it would be nice if there was some clear and easy source of info so total beginners or born useless players can get the basics easilly.

For gametypes like DM there's indeed not much to learn.

word up, im mainly CTF, but untill now i dnt kno wat to do in onslaught. that would be good.


here is mine :

--more fat characters like gorge because a skinny girl [no homo] doesnt even look good when they move and shoot BIG weapons, the size of half thier body

--some weapon that u can jump with , for example shield gun in 04'

--In game IRC like chat so u can message someone when they r playing a game and not on IRC. So you wouldnt have to minimize UT every 5 sec to talk to someone on IRC. and just better way and easy way to communicate


-- In game ladder [with real admins who know what they r doing]

-- No botters

-- No lagg (eg. WoW). I hope NA ppl can play[compete] with Europe ppl without high pings, because there is a lot of ppl who cant visit world tournaments/pay for plane ticket.

-- and a LOT of fun

-- easier way to add ur music/support for more formats

-- More sophisticated stuff, and more areas where u can practice to be better player. More elements in the game to get better at. For example - shield jumping, dodgeing, hitscan etc etc, so its more competetive and MORE ppl play this game for 3+ years

-- better way to key bind stuff/easier

-- More details in general

--in 04, the buddy list feature didnt always find my buddies, maybe like only wrked 70& of the time. Hope this feature is more developed.

Well altough I'm not sure how the buddylist works, I think the buddylist only searches for the players with the names you've put in your list. So when you've added Sinterklaas to your buddylist and he changes his name to Kerstman afterwards, he won't show up in your list anymore. It would probably be better when it tracked the players id instead.

I think one or two "necessary" remakes should be in the retail version. The rest should be left to the community.

With "necessary" I mean true classics like Deck1X just as one example. It is not so much about gameplay here, but what makes UT the franchise it is.

Look, Ut2003 didn't have a Deck map... ...but there were custom versions of Deck16]I[ and big server providers had dedicated "Deck 16 only" servers,

Torlan is the map for ONS (although I do not like it in it's current state). But it should be in UT2007 (fixed of course).

Other great maps or fun maps will be remade by users anyways. Roughinery is a good map... ...but shall it be remade for retail? I think no, because it can easily be remade by community mappers.

Spacenoxx in UT99 is where I spent many hours playing against bots, and that's where I learned to snipe. So now, people hate me when I haul out a sniper rifle of any type in any game. :D

im not stupid, i know that, but my firends were all playing in a server, i had their exact name and it didnt detect.

Aok ....and I'm not saying you're stupid, i just mean that the current system doesn't work very well. I've had the situation that many ppl had the same name as the 1 I bounded and so got a load of servers showing up and that makes it very hard to find that player. I just say that it probably would be better that the buddylist tracks player-id's instead of names.

As i only played the single player campaign thru once for each release. I really only play the UT series online, so bacially AI is unimportant to me.
I like the movement of UT2k4 and the double dodge and the wall dodge.

AMEN! I hate having SpeedHack all the time by some loser.

Hoverboards are cool, quicker travel but u can't use your weapons. Kinda a sitting target for someone with a good sniper eye or alot of rocket ammo. If I see a hoverboarder I'll just pop his head and continue. While hoverboarding you cannot use weapons, so it won't be spammed alot.

If there were faster Avril Projectiles noone would dodge it. Well noone except sky jockeys.
How do we do that? Like I want a Assualt Rifle, I'll press A? Or S for a shield gun
Your health in the center screen would make it harder to see, or if you make it smaller it would cause a distraction (grab a piece of paper, a pen, then make a dot in the center of the paper to see what I mean. No matter how hard you try to ingore the dot, your eyes always go to it.)
Using the arrow keys to select which vehicle position you want would take a long time, but its a great idea :D
From the trailers, it seems that semi-automatic pistols would be your default, I dunno if you get dual-wield as defult or not.

Great ideas though :D I agree with your list.

For voices I would say add new ones but also the old ones from UT2003/4 and UT99 so everyone could choose what he likes best shouldnt be hard to do it. For me it would be the Ut99 robot voice, I just love it "Target lifeform eliminated" yea baby, I miss it :P.

For weapons I would hope they would give the sniper recoil. Like if you are moving your crosshair would move around so this game wouldnt be anymore all about LG, LG, LG man iam getting sick of it. In addition scale the range from Shocks primary shoot, should be just mid range so you could do good combos but not using it for insta hit ALL THE TIME. Yea Iam pissed about this cause it seems so all other weapons are just inferior to LG and Shock and that sux.

I want more into the face battles but not at cost of movement (dodge, dodge jumping etc. thats just unique in UT and would be a bad move to remove it). If I wanted to play with just insta hit weapons I could go play instagib /sigh.

Like other ppls already mentioned, good visible player models it just sucks in UT2003/4 without UTcomp or add a UTcomp to UT2007 so all servers could choose if enabled or not, guess some admins are just to lazy to install it.

Well for sure new weapons / vehicles :P but thats all I can think about at the moment.

While I like the idea of realtime voice deformation, I'm not sure if it's really feasible to do on your computer: UT2K7 is clearly going to be very resource intensive on its own, and sound processing on your mic might eat up a lot of resources (depending on how extensive the transformation).

Yeah I thought of that myself, this is one of those things I would agree is a client setting I guess :p

If something like this were to be used you would need the option to turn it off otherwise as you say it can hog up resources that are better spent elsewhere's. The data would still have to be sent the same way through the server and probably deformed on the other end, if you have alot of audio channels active this could bring even the best of systems to its knee's, unless the soundcard can take alot of the load. I dunno if all soundcards can do this though without offloading to the cpu, Id rather the cpu or soundcard be spending time doing realistic accoustics etc I guess.

Great idea though, that should be stuck in the sack with all the others ;)

How about some unique characters also? Like Build-your-own character? Build a skin, and use it in Instant Action, or Multiplayer. And I doubt that it would be that difficult to change voices, Xbox Live uses it easily.

Ive played online and where people use microphone, but i usually wont understand their langue. So this feature really is good for good gaming experiense and better understanding your team mates.

Did you use the ingame VoIP or an external program? THe latter provide a far better quality, we used this stuff to discuss complex things like setting up servers and how to tweak them, so it is more than good enough for simple and brief commands ingame.

But I am very confident that VoIP in UT2k7 will have much better quality than 2k4.
