Hello, I'm sanastro, and I wanted to ask a question about the legality for taking things from U1/UT99 to another game. Is it legally allowed to take and modify things from Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament and use it in a non-Unreal Engine game? It will be made with the RPG Maker XP (some people may have heard about it) and will be a Unreal fangame, and I won't contribute it for money or anything. It'll be a fan project. I'll modify textures from the games to fit into 32x32 tiles, which form tilesets for the levels of the game, and for the sprites I would take models from U1 (like the Brute, Female2 etc.), export them to 3DSMAX, resize the renders and convert them to character sets (sprites). Would that be OK? Or would I get problems with Epic through that?

Sorry, but the answer is no. We do not allow the content from any of our games to be used with other products.

sounds about right, you can make your own that look like the unreal ones but you cant use theirs.

Maybe you should have just made it and gave the characters unique names.

(But epic might sue) [face_cry]
