Really, what's wrong with..."wh*ring" certain weapons/abilities?

IMO, this is just as lame as all the sad saps back in the Street Fighter 2 days that complained every day about throws, and how they were cheap.

If something happens to actually work for you, and you enjoy that particular tactic...what's really the problem? The only weapon I'd say is borderline game-breaking is Shock rifle, and even that's generally fine, imo...it's not something I'd complain about or want to boot people. This is on my mind recently as it seems like I'm booted on a daily basis at this point, and I'm almost certain it's because I have become quite a fan of bio-rifle....well that's putting it lightly. I use that gun like it's going out of style..that's my little green buddy. I may just play bots offline for quite awhile now...as last night really kinda irritated me.

Really...and why only certain powerful things and not others? Wraith is arguably the best ability in the game...and yet no one whines about it....no one will ever call you a "wraith wh*re". If it's officially part of the game, and not a 100% guaranteed game-breaking tactic....what is the problem?

Ok I'm glad you brought this up Necris because I have heard before people calling other people gun wh*res and stuff.

There is no way possible you can be a gun wh*re in this game, because there are only 8 guns in the game plus melee...You only get to choose 2 guns each map...There is no excuse for calling someone a gun wh*re simply because you can't get around it...For instance RoK FeaR/IIHBII Ghost MURDERS me with the shock rifle...I have a 15% chance of survival when he uses it but i dont call him a shock wh*re..I just laugh at how bad I am getting owned.


Abilities- The only ability that can be considered wh*red is Ethereal and that is not even that bad...EMP for example lasts what 7 seconds? Energy Burst and Vampire Cloud( If charged with melee) are easy to dodge...but if you jump onto a anubis or judas and they hit you with it that is your fault..

At the end of the day it only matters if the person is dead or not.

nah, I said the shock is "borderline"...really meaning that I view it as possibly the strongest weapon in the game. If you're even halfway decent with it...you notice the strategic power/weight it carries. It was becoming my favorite weapon for quite awhile until I started seriously using Bio some weeks ago. Still, I said it's nothing I'd personally complain about, and definitely not a reason I'd boot someone from a server. In fact, I'd never boot someone just because they were killing me over and over. I've only hosted about 2 or 3 times, btw.

Oh and yeah...I didn't even consider that point when making the original post...the limitation of guns invalidates the "___wh*re" insults in the first place, since we can only have 2 different guns in a match....obviously, one gets more use than the other.

but you can do bad things in this game.

when me, tug and shock used to play survival together we kinda had an unwritten code, which made anything "cheap" a sin. and because of that we became less "cheap" players and also got more skill because of that.

That brings the competitive feel/atmosphere down a few notches, imo. I don't like the notion of handicapping myself simply for the sake of some moral code or "honor", or whatever you want to call it. I'm playing to have fun, and getting the kills/points happens to be part of the fun....occasionally winning is even better than just getting the kills. Why intentionally limit yourself, unless some character/ability/weapon were truly match-ender(*nothing in this game is truly on that level of being a "gamebreaker")? It's like if you chose to pick a Necris, and decided not to use Wraith...or if you picked rockets, and decided not to use the 3-pack at all....or if you had a sniperrifle, and decided to not shoot people when they had their back turned because it's "too easy" and they can't reject. It just doesn't make sense....it's playing a competitive game in a non or half-ass-competitive way.

*well, there's the lag situation. I'll admit...if I see someone is obviously lagged out and just stuck there...I won't go for the kill. (and I notice that EVERYONE else does go for the kill in that kind of situation. So much for the community being on their high moral horse, right? )

firstly the tripple rox isnt cheap. single rox are however.

to be honest, is there any point in being competitive on a game that no longer has competition? what we were doing was having fun aswell and we could easily get kills without using "cheap" tactics. the fun part was that because we wernt going for easy kills, we had to pull off some insane shots to kill each other. Have you ever felt like you wish you hit that dude square in the face in mid air with that wad, rarther than poisen clouding him?

I see fun not as getting the most frags... but getting the coolest looking frags.

Q3 only had single target rockets.

And they do more damage than UC2's rockets.

I can see why u think charging up 3 rockets consistantly is "skillfull" but not everyone plays that way. It seems that everyone that plays this game has "rules" or wtf ever. play a game then mod it. You dont play a game then make up "rules that are sin to break" It's like the whole melee concept. get a life people. It's like people complaining every. It's like saying a you cant use a bishop, but u can use a rook, and u can only use the Queen for diagonal advances... wtf is this ****. are we communist now people?

you see on pc you can create mods and maps to make the gameplay better.... we cant do that on xbox can we, so we stick to rules

IMO, there is no such thing as whoring in this game, except host sniping all the time when someone didn't asked the others if they were fine with it.

I beg to differ, thats just how your LAN buddies play.Also I sonunds like easy jections to me.Don't know about you, but it's nt that easy to reject me personally.NOt saying its not doable at all or any craziness like that.Some people you can just tap "L" and its easy breezey.Others thats not quite the case.

Anyhow, the people I play on LANs with are skilled enough to where rejections rarely work well for any of us.Plus we consider it a little laim.If it is successful, it tends to become alittle laim.

Plus we made these little "LAN Rules" back on the demo.

When EVERY rejction of a sniper = a headshot.

So since my buddy is like SniperWolf on crack, I used to just stand there and tap "L".It really is laim IMO, cause he's alot better than me at about every game out there, and he could'nt do crrap to that.

Rejections are cool, but not very skillful to pull off in many cases online.

I've seen a few of what we call "tight rejects". and we respect those, and promote them in game.Things like pounce reject for a kill.We consider that great useage of the move.

In other words, at those times (split seconds) where your TRULY vulnerable to attack, we allow it....

anyways those arre my thoughts on the matter.

Fact of it is, everyone like to play a little differently.

In the end, defalt is the only way to go I guess, but IMO the most skillful way to play is speedMatch.. with no Locks.

I really don't consider whoring anything to be a big deal. After all, everybody is going to ultimately find their own favorite tactic to get kills - and if it works, well, then stick with it.

Personally, I only feel guilty if I begin beating-up too hard on the noobs without restraint. I rarely every play full-throttle on these new-comers, but sometimes the urge to wail on them with unremorseful angst comes pretty naturally.

My main thing to me is just playing with style.

I dont care for the easy kills really.

What I mean by that is like doing a crazy flip and shooting rather than just standing ther, provided you could land the kill either way.

The main thing my friends and I lost sight of for awhile was just having fun.A few of us got a little too serious when the game was first released(my friends), and we started fighting over stuff more than having fun.We were talking about it one day and decided to quit trying to be Fata1ity(John Wendel), and started playing for fun again.I tell it's the best realization I;ve witneesed in gaming.
