View Full Version : I Need Ideas for a UC2 Website I'm Creating...

Okay fellas and er... gals (i.e. Demonic Chick, Fevered TNT, Andre... oops, I'm just playin to the last two), I've just begun creating a website dedicated to all things Unreal - especially UC2 in general, and wanted to come here and ask our community for ideas which could be implemented into this project.
Now, I just started the other day and only have a few ideas so far. In fact, the website is already posted since I wanted to make sure my connection and internet info was ready to rock so that everything could be uploaded. Thankfully, everything seems good to go and my address is secure, but like I said... this site is in its EARLY EARLY stages.
Anyhow, I'm thinking of providing the site with various info surrounding UC2, tips, detailed maps, and screenshots as well. Maybe a place for montages, gamer pics, and basically anything Unreal related.
I was also considering making a list of individuals who still currently play or are somehow involved within our community (with their permission of course) and at the very least post their gamertags. Heck, maybe creat a list of gamers who've retired, but helped to make our community what it is today.
Anyhow, any ideas are welcome and this website will be something I plan to work on over the coming days whenever I find the time. Just a note, there won't be any included forums of any kind (that's what these boards are for), but simply an Unreal homepage.
Thanks guys.

- character info
- weapon info (maybe some of the info of 'the dirt' with permission of augy of course)
- map info should included all power-ups + secret areas
- general tips
- link to UC2 music by kevin riepl (you can download all songs :))
- adrenaline moves
- wallpapers
- general art (sigs, drawings, etc)
that's all I can think about right now, I'm sure you thought of that + some other stuff :)

1.) Jump once
2.) Press *slightly hold* R (right trigger) to start the lunge
3.) Right when your character rams his or her melee forward hit A+x+L all at once. but before actual movement.
4.) your character should then do a jumping forward motion while flying through the air *like a lunge would take you* (You can reject during)
5.) then at the peak (or anywhere in between) your lunge press A and then R to lunge again.
6.) if you press A+x+l again you can hit some mid flight rejections again.

Shred, I'll definitely make sure to add a place for UT 2004 stuff (among other Unreal games as well).
Counter, thanks for all your ideas man, it's much appreciated. I remember Augy had that weapon info up on his site a while back but aren't sure it's still available? Maybe I'll get in touch with Augy shortly and would obviously give him the credit if I would end up using his info.
Anyhow, everything you mentioned sounds fantastic.

Not to sound offtempo to your theme. We all play more games then just UC2. I wanted to create a website that had more then one game so that we all can join in and talk about. But since you came up with this UC2 website, I wanted to give you some ideas. You should make some sections, if you are having forums, about other games. That way we can get in and talk about other cool games that are out. Like madden or live. Something, because UC is falling on its hinds soon, but I do like the idea of having stuff for UT2k4. It would also be smart to add UT2k7 stuff too. Just a thought for stuff on your site though. If you won't, just let me know, and I will continue with what I was going to do.

Ya, I'm definitely gonna keep this website UNREAL only - even though I do love many other games myself. It's just that seem to have a passion for UNREAL above all others. It's the one franchise that just keeps me coming back for more... besides, I never really get board of these games. Also, there aren't going to be any forums at all - just info.
Hopefully I'll have a bit more done where I'll be able to post a link soon so people can get a small taste of what's to come. However, I've been having some serious proportional TEXT problems lately I've been trying to work out.
Venom, I'd be more than happy to add a link to your site bro. Just provide me with the info via a PM and I'll make sure to get everything situated here soon.

Cool, but it will take some time, because I am doing it all from flash, then adding the forums as a seperate attachment. Many many games are going to be available. Even things like MAME and Mugen. As well as ut and uc series. Gotta finish my drawings in 3d blender though.

Sweet man, take your time - there's no rush. I've been slowly starting to crack away at my website and I've been learning as I go. I'm such a noob to all this stuff, but thankfully I'm determined to learn quickly.
I've been using a standard no-frills software program called Coffecup Visual Designer, and I'v ebeen learning more about HTML and Flash as I progress. Would you recommend any good Flash programs, and if so, which ones? Is Flash difficult?

LOL. Funny that you asked. I am learning flash as we speak. I believe the only flash programs you can use is macromedia from adobe. If there are others, then I don't know much about them. Right now I am learning how to transform letters from one character to another. It is pretty neat. I have gotten very far in my learnings. And I already have my intro page done. Besides the links though, because I haven't created the homepage. I am using flash mx 2004, freehand 2004, dreamweaver 2004, cold fusion, and something else that I can't think of right now. Those apps are great. I may even make little games for my sight. I wanted to make a fps in my style. Since animation is not that strong as say 3d max blender or maya, I will use what i have and then drag them to flash mx. Most of you may like. I just want to get the forums up and running, so that I can start sharing with you all the stuff that I have. Flash by no means is difficult. It is just knowing what the buttons mean, and were to find them. Also the actionscript programming language is almost like other programming language. The great part of it is that you don't need a hundred lines of code just for one lil action. I will be of honor to help you. Though I am in dire need myself. So you may be able to help me too.

So Macromedia from Adobe is the way to go then? How much does this program cost? Also, if that is the best app, then what are Flash MX, Freehand, Dreamweaver, and Cold Fusion used for? That would be great to see all your work whenever you're finished and I definitely appreciate the help - although, I'm not sure exactly how much of assistance I'd be myself because I haven't exactly touched anything Flash quite yet. We'll keep in touch though.

Adobe = Grand Owners
Macromedia = Individual Studio Developers
Macromedia Studio 2004 (The one I have) = Includes:
Freehand = Drawing Graphics, buttons, symbols, editing pictures, etc
Flash = Creating flash documents, animation, interactivity, etc
Fireworks (to me it is the same as freehand. haven't played around with it that much yet.)
Dreamweaver = Complete website designer from single pages to managing all documents and files, to publishing for clients to view. Very very useful. I would actually call this one a must.
Cold Fusion = Web Server application. Sucks though, I prefer apache
For the price, it is very pricey. I hear that they have studio 8 out now, and that some art students told me it is 1,000 bucks. Pricey, until I actually thought about it. Photoshop alone is over 500 bucks, and fireworks is just as good as well as that. Plus the ability to make flash movies and games. Look at these other 3d engines that are out. Though flash is not a real 3d engine, you can convert any 2d scene into 3d looking. I can make a square rotate around and display all sides. So it can work, but it still doesn't use the z axes. Plus it isn't really made for that, it is outstanding when building websites. Fun stuff. Anyways you are better off taking some classes that require you to buy it, or offer it for free. 9 times out of 10 you will get a huge discount if you have to buy it for school. Or just ebay it. Or find it from the wonderful people of p2p. I did not authorize you to go that route. (just wanna be safe.) But it is there.
When I said you can help me learn some things in flash. Honestly I just started about two weeks ago. Now you may start learning how to embed movies into movies (i.e. make a movie about someone watching a movie). That is something basic, but in my book, they have that at the end. Even how to add sound is near the end. So I have finished a lot of good stuff that this book offers, but the contruction of the book is out of order. The book is not that full of content like you would think. It is very very very very very user friendly. That is why the coding is not even really needed, unless you really want your animation to do something that no combination of things will allow you to do. And the slim chance of that is...well...about 5%.

Wow, you sure seem to know your stuff Venom, and thanks for giving me the low-down on the various details which these software programs offer. I just went on Ebay and Amazon to check out prices, and that program of yours is going for more than I could afford at the moment. The cheapest I could probably scoop-one up for is $200-300 bones. Most are retailing around $400-500.
I sure wish that PC apps weren't so dawgawn expensive. I'd definitely be willing to learn, but I also wonder how much I'd actually use this stuff. Macromedia Studio 2004 seems to be the crem-de-le-crem of Web Design software, and I've read nothing but great reviews about it.For now I'm going to stick with my $30 Coffecup Visual Designer program I found at Best Buy until I could scrape-up enough scratch.

Thanks snoogans. That is an really a steal then. I think studio 2004 comes with 4-5 apps. So if you find studio 2004 for 400, then go ahead and get it. I will say this though, find dreamweaver standalone. Or find flash standalone. Those are the "meat" applications of the suite. I wish they were not too expensive either. But snoogans you can....I will pm you on that one if you want to get it early. Trust me, you will be amazed in the learning process.

I would love an auto-updating list of people that are currently playing. I hate loading up UC2, going all the way through Live, waiting for that to load, going online, and seeing only the UC2 Dedicated server with 0/5 players.
