I'm guessing that since there are no Flak strategy threads here, that must mean there is no real strategy to it. just two fire buttons, aim and shoot.

But if anyone could come up with some numbers on damage dealt and splash radius, that'd be awesome. I'm gonna test it on a medium to see how it compares with the Rockets, and Ripjack, but right now I'm off to bed.

But if someone has a strategy guide(not the incorrect one that some people seem to have), then I'd appreciate any input.

Each shard of flak primary does about 14 damage.
If all 6 shards hit their mark you’ll get about 84 damage.

The secondary canisters do around 63<70 damage, which is again in the same ballpark as the rest of the explosive weapons.

The splash radius is very similar to rocket splash…

Horizontal coverage is about 1 to 1.5 body lengths, with the occasional shard going a bit further.

Vertical coverage is about the apex of a double jump. However the vertical coverage here isn’t as consistent as Rockets since shards sprout off on different trajectories after every exploding canister.

wheni use flak i only use it when i'm up close. I use my shock rifle when i'm far away. Flak is to easy to dodge, and if you get up close to them, say they're meleeing you, you can take them down REALLY fast with the primary fire.

Flak has two firing modes

Shotgun burst

and

Cluster Shotty





I tend to try to get them to land on my cluster or if there are two pathes clust one and go the other (works best in ctf)

Also it is great for melee whores who charge you, only to get a face full of flak
