I second that motion. Most days I'm lucky to concentrate for a mere half hour. Sometimes though, I can rock a good 3 hour session. Heck, today I played UT 99 for roughly that long - intermittently however.
It would be interesting to see how many hours people invest each day with UC2 (among other games), both online and off. My stats say I've played online for a little over a hundred hours. Some people have four or five times that. I love this game, but love fresh air even more.

Oven I had to type very fast becuse I was leaveng. Now why in the name of hell do you care what others do man. Just live your own dam life and stay out of others. So what if they play games all day I don't see why you should care or say anything about it. I mean come on stop going around and being like omg he plays games all day it's his life. Just leave them alone all I have seen you do is comment on how people live there lives, and I just can't understand why you care no matter who it is. I don't have a prob with you it's just I am trying to understand why you care.

Oh my god....this thread is retarded, how can you call people good that sit in their own server, stack the teams, and kill noobs all day....24/7 they have no life. I go in their server looking for a good game but they won't boot the noobs that are 1-20, I even ask nicely...they take advantage of their laggy pile of garbage server. They get all the kills while everyone lags
Oh yeah....where is DJS with my locked topic!![face_angry]

I probably have 500+ hrs. invested online and offline in UC2. I play so much because I think it's one of the best shooters ever made. In fact, I'll be buying another copy so I can play system link with my friend tommorrow. I'm not retiring UC2 just yet.
(I am in no way claiming to be a god or legend at the game, I just find it to be quite enjoyable)

Ehh, I would've necessarily say that. There's always a glimmer of hope somewhere, and UC3 is definitely a possibility. Many people claim that UC2 was a failure, yet, it's been popular enough to garner a pretty loyal fanbase.
Especially considering most gaming communities on the console front, tend to fizzle out over a matter of months. Geez, look at many of these PC titles that continue to go strong many years down the road. UT 99 has been around for basically 7 years now, and there's still hundreds of gamers to be found playing at any given time during the day.
Whenever I fire-up UC2 late at night, there' times when I'm lucky to find one server. Ususally there's at least a few, but even still. Besides, there's been even less successful games over the years than UC2, that have ultimately been given sequels.

Snoogans has a point. UC2 did sell quite a few copies. And even though it's dead now, most console games die off quickly. I've seen bigger failures get sequels in the past. Besides, how many FPS UT games can you make before you need to try a change of pace anyway. I bet the devs love trying new things.

there should still be some "amazing" players left in the game

the only reason they are "good' is because they play TDM and they dont play fair teams (skill wise) and then they gang rape noobs..or they host their own SV matches and host whore, i almost never see a HB member playing DM that isnt their own host...and on top of all that they say that they dont post on these forums but if u post anything about them on here they confront u about it online,(im not sure how that last part was relevant)

i love replying on things late.. :(, anyways, i prob got like 2 000 hours on ut 2004 lol i played in the best clan that won 3 tournaments in assault and tdm. Also, i love playing games that are so called "dead", because only people that arent noobs that will quit after one day wont play :D!

it says TEAM-dm but it doesn't say CLAN-dm
just because they are in a clan doesn't mean that they dont have to all spend 10 min a the start of each match making sure all of the clan members are on the same team
and im not saying that the people in HB suck, ive played alot of them, they aer pretty good BUT, they always host in their laggy servers, that i lag out off(i dont think ive gone 5 games in a row without lagging out of one of their servers)
i dont think ive ever seen more than 1 HB member in a server that wasn't hosted by another HB member (hb members only play on their own servers if there is more than 1 member on)

"Rorgy ur just a nubby who still dont understand the big picture yet." IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT SERVER UR IN, U WILL LAG OUT... unless on ur own server.
besides, its not like the HB clan has ever done anything to u, so back off. plus u never even play the game so how the hell would even see us in other servers. for the five minutes u play and NEWSFLASH, there are barely any other servers out there,we got banned from all the Blessed servers.
Oh yea ps. I don't get it, it's not like we have host adv and your in a damn clan to play with your clan mates aren't you? Every day that we get on we play agenst each other for a hr then play on same teams. We play agenst each other to warm up so i don't like ppl going around saying we never do.
Find me a server that I haven't been booted form or will get booted I wil stay in it.

02-20-2006, 06:01 AM
hello cervesa [face_happy] that's way better than the way i put it. the top 10 players i played were in midways or unreals, thats where i met the best players. people played extremely good in their servers, but if you switch it up anyone that knows what there doing should DOMINATE in their server, so therefore i cant give out respect that aint deserved.
rorgy, TDM is a place where clans should be playing to train up their teamwork. most of them do Ok i survival, especially jamin and ghost. and i have played them two in different servers.

Alright, it seems like everyone thinks that Deathmatch takes no skill, but in actuality, the amount of situational awareness needed is far greater than a game of Survival. I know we've had this debate before, but these two are completely different games. Personally, I think most people that excel at Deathmatch, are worse in Survival - and vice versa.
Granted, I understand the whole stealing kills part, but this happens to simply be an element of this gametype. You can steal kills, while others do the same - hence, everything balances itself out. Most of the time you're facing-off with someone one on one in Deathmatch anyway, and when others do slide into the ensuing fray, being able to stay alive takes mad skill. Just my two cents.
I'd like to chime in on the whole server issue though. There's far too many gamers that use host's advantage, simply to maintain their rep of Masterful and Godlike. That's all fine and dandy, but when they absolutely refuse to play in anything but... well, my amount of respect toward them is lessened greatly.
There's been countless times I could've easily won a match if not for the lag, but the host came away victorious instead - thanks in part to his flawless connection and rejections (sigh). Oh well, I pretty much refuse to play in my own server, because I feel so guilty having an advantage. It's much more satisying beating a host in his.

I've definitely played good players in Deathmatch before - but ya, there's plenty of noobs running around as well. Anyhow, Survival is just plain boring in my opinion. There's way too much down time in between deaths, which simply throws me out of any kind of rhythm. I need continuous action and lots of it, or otherwise I'll fall asleep.[face_sleep]

Survival = get hit, go get health, get hit, go get health, get hit, go get health, get hit, go get health, get hit, then finally someone dies and it is your turn.

i never lag out of Lord Deaths server, and he doesn't ban anybody
deaths sever is soo good that u can actually reject snipers (if u time it right)
and the only reason i play halo(if thats what u were refering to) is because i only ever play on lord deaths server because it is hands down the least laggy server in the whole game. i have never lagged out on it and i have probly put it 100hours+ in it
and i dont have anythign against HB, i just have a problem with clans on this game
legacy-Tug_Soldi3r

i never really died in dm i proberly got less deaths in dm with good players than in survival with good players. tdm is the easiest imo if you know what your doing. if your good at tdm you should be good at survival and tdm imo. ppl dont get the aim of survival its to survive. so why complain about it.

Ya I'm pretty sure this is kind of late but clan's should stick together because they are a clan. They are made to stick together. DM is for noobs and for pro's. Noobs just steal all kills or take raptor (Like I do when I try to anger my friends[face_grin]) and self destruct but the pros are the ones who get their kills stolen.
