I'd like for all melee noobs,whores, or users to unite so we can have some good melee only games. I'm getting tired of going blade for blade with some only to have some ass run past and spam some weapon at us. So I say we should get some melee only servers going.

I disagree with that Fear. I think melee is a great weapon choice if you know what your doing. But I'm a melee whore who has been playing Unreal games back when it was just UT99 for the pc. I'm really taken by this melee aspect of the game. It's new and different. It's not just spam some weapons towards people. An I mean spam since these are the spammiest weapons in any Unreal game I have ever seen. But anyways the melee aspect is kinda of making my dream of a good fighting game with online play come to life.
As for what Prophecy says about heavys, that is only partly true. Not all heavys win hand to hand. Sure they are strong but they are also slow. A few quick hits and then a CDG and no more heavy char.

i only use melee to finish off an oppoenent. i never just battle it out with them. its to easy for an outsider to kill the both of us, or more, with a single shock core, rocket, flak ball or any other high damage weapon. I should know because when I enter games I let people know that they better get their melee kills fast because i can and will shock combo both them if they locked in a melee battle.:)

What don't you just try using melee all the way? Use shield and reflecting from far away, they will get scared, probabley switch to melee, and you own them while they are switching with some nice base ball bat swings.

I've realized that since I suck at the whole jump all over and spam Rockets and Shock Combos thing in survival, I need a different technique. As it turns out, I have come up with one.

I use Szalor, Bio, and GL. The best thing a heavy char has is melee. There's no way to dodge rockets, and bounce off the walls over and over with a heavy. So I assess the opponent's arsenal, play with them a bit, and then it's in for the kill with Jump attack, Pounce, Speed, and Shields. Seems to work well for me. It counters all the people that wanna spend time flying through the air, bouncing from wall to wall.

If they can't get away from you, they're forced to take a stand with either melee or a weapon at close range. They can't out melee me if they are a medium or a light, so that doesn't work to well. And if they try to shoot you, shields up until the opportunity to strike comes.

In conclusion:

Szalor + Melee owns U.

It isn't for noobs. If you can get good at it, you can play defensively a lot of the time, rejecting and using your shield to get close enough to the person, and then taking them out.

I have been playing Unreal since UC1 and am a strong beleiver of weapons but I mix up melee just as much. If you dont use explosives, energy, and melee evenly, you become too predictable. Everybody is going to just expect your weapons and spam you with reject. Theres nothing worse than overusing something or your strategy is learned quick. If somebody is expecting me to finish them off with ripjacks, I switch to melee for a quick finish. if I think they are expecting melee, switch back and kill them with splash damage or a fast sniper shot.

The only thing that gets old in this game is over using the same attack.

Melee is clearly not for noobs. In fact, it is the complete oposite. Not anyone can be a ,melee God. But anyone can be a rocket whore for example.

it seems like alot of times i walk into a room, kill the first person i see using melee and they call me a noob or a melee whore. then i take out the rockets and i'm instantly called a rocket whore. the next game i decide to switch it up and use gorge then i'm kicked out of the room. i love it. instead of trying to get better at the game, people just want to whine and cry about how they are killed. this is a very well balanced game. the problem is too many people come from halo where the sword is a noob weapon. all you have to do is wait till your target turns red and press one button, but that's not how this game is. i use melee most of the time because i feel more comfortable jumping off walls and slashing through peoples heads and energy bursting. i like doing it and some people can defend against it well and some just can't. work on your game before you whine to me about anubis. i don't whine about heavys that behind any half-good player can pound me into the ground. i just try to get better.

I have never played a melee user who i would consider to be good... i rarely die from melee, i only use melee to move around and occassionaly pounce attack to finish people off. Melee certainly doesnt own but i like the way that melee users think it does, because they just become another free kill for me :)

Its all opinion, but imo melee cannot compare to guns which is why i have never met a melee user who can compare to me... use a gun and throw melee in occassionally, that will stop me from violating all you melee users so easily ;)

BlackKnight im on alot of players top 10 lists... i played you alot when the game first came out in unreal servers.... i took you to school every time even in that lag, im surprised you cant remeber. This thread is a discussion, i can bring it back if i want to talk about it, if i posted a new one some prick would say there is already a thread on it. Lol people know who i am, not like i care, its a game, however im letting you bad melee kids no that you dont compare to a good range user, the only half good melee user i knew was WreckZR, but then again his melee couldnt compare off his server. You must have me confused with one of the other black knights because I have never played or even seen any of you Z people. An on the off chance it was me ofcourse you won. The game had just came out. I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I never played the demo like half or most of you did. Plus I had to get use to using a controller for a shooter. Some can naturally adjust while others like myself take time to adjust after using a m/kb for so long.

Also personal top 10 list don't mean squat to me.

Well BlackKnight i was simply letting you know that i am well known and not a nobody, which means i have a right to an opinion which i share with ALL of the games best players... melee is rubbish proven by the fact that no melee user has ever touched me. At the start of the game my tag didnt have a Z in it ;) so you wouldnt no me, however you were the first i saw to use the dash/ energy burst combo :)

I think its funny that you tried to imply that my opinion was not worth anything because you and the melee community do not no who i am...

I sure as hell know who Gravity is. I knew who he was before I was any god at this game, and I have never played against him. (Peace a few times but only semi-recently)

I of vourse completely agree with Gravity, and everyone else who knows what they are doing, that melee is nothing compared to guns. End of story. WreckZR was able to realize that guns were better, so he picked up the rockets.

we all should have a melee fight lol.personally when i play as my usaul female chick i maily use melee cuz it kicks ass. plus i maily know how to kill with it same as my man,plus i dont really know how to work the wepons good and every time i have tried exept a few it gets shot back at me and i cant take out my melee fast enough to reject it.and im personally up to learning how to use wepons if some 1 will help me,cuz my man is trying to help me out also. I'm no where as good as grav and I've yet to meet a melee person that could touch me once I got good with guns. I might die from the random pounce attack from behind in DM but thats about it. Only Melee user who gives me trouble is Castle but only reason he does is because he just sits their and rejects and is good at it so if you miss your spot on your shot you are basically dead. Even then its more of a matter that you missed the spot you were shooting at than him being a good melee user (not saying he isn't). But even Castle is using guns more now. I joined a server with him the other day and he was using the shock riffle.[face_applause]

If ur looking to get better pick up the rocket launcher and work on aim for a start. basicly melee is bad and if u continue to use it u will be bad... Use melee for movement purposes only.

well if u play someone good with rockets u wont be able to reject... forget about n0obs who cant shoot properly any one can reject bad rockets. learn to aim rockets ur self then u can get good at the game, the simple truth is no melee players are considered good, why? caus there not, they get owned by all the average-good range weapon players. U can get good with melee, but at the end of the day u will just be another no0b in a server that gets destoyed like all the other bad kids who think melee is good and they are good with it. Wtf this game needs more thinking? Son you are retarded. You need to do more thinking. Strategical thinking is employed not given It is not like homing when you can't aim. There is not a button or pill I know to make you smarter. All kinds of ambush, stealth, and recon tactics are used by people with brains. I have taken down weapon users a few times. Gimme a break. Good players OWN. You would have to severely outhink and outreact a good weapons user to beat them and it just doesn't happen. Even castle will get beat. Melee requires no skill compared to weapons. Have you sever seen last samurai. In the end firepoewr rules man. esp.in DM and tdm. Cause you can't reject what you can't see. Why do you think castle only plays survival? Same with even alot of top weapon users. Although you could do well even dominate with some rejects in dm but no. Stealth and ranged combat is the way to go. But some melee needs to be learned sometimes esp. on small maps.
