ok so curious as to the communities opinion on this matter. If you were to run a 1v1 tournament for UC2 at a LAN cafe, what ruleset/map list would you use? Im talking about Time limits, mutators, and maps of course that would be good for 1v1. Would you limit it to stock characters or unlocked ones as well? Also would you make it best 2 out of 3 maps or just a single map. I know the competitive rules for the UT series since Im pretty involved with that area, but Ive never used UC2 before for one of these. Anyways, whatever feedback you have is much appreciated. Thanks

I do alot of 4 player lans, and we stick to one set-up, but switch these set-ups on different meetings.
LIke on time it'll be DM, on one map, no mutators.
Next might be one map, on insta.
OR maybe OD.
We neverr eally did too much CTF.
Favorite muts are;
No locks
insta
Retribution, high kill limits, speedmatch, classic UC (very fun).
OTher than that we just turn more stuff off then on.Thats just how we are I guess.
We always stuck to more basic characters, using unlocked ones too, but like no Dev or Malcom type crap.

gotcha, well Im pretty sure it will stick just the DeathMatch 1v1. So maps like undertow and phoenix are probably out of the question, but maybe not... havent played them 1v1 before. Ill have to fire up the game again later today and see but am just wanting some outside opinion.

ok so I was checking things out...
and I was thinking that a best of 3 maps would be best with 10 minute maps, highest scorer moves on of course.
Maps I was thinking would be good for this (also including powerups):
Acid Rain - damage amp, megahealth, and adrenaline
Azure - damage amp, megahealth, and adrenaline
Ascension - damage amp, megahealth and adrenaline
Cold Fusion - Damage amp, megahealth and adrenaline
Eternal - Damage amp, invisibility, and adrenaline
Praxis - Damage Amp and Megahealth
Remnant - Damage Amp, Megahealth and adrenaline
I want to narrow that down to 5 maps instead. I like eternal, but it has invis... and Id rather not have that powerup in a map since its a regular adren move for a lot of characters anyways.
Other maps I was considering were Fury, Axon Compressor and Deep Core. I felt they werent as good or too small or too big. I wish I could use my fav maps (tempest, undertow and phoenix) but theyre ridiculously too big.
So my question to you is what map(s) out of those 6 or 7 would you get rid of?
Also if you were playing a 1v1 competively what mutators would you use? The only ones that stuck out to me were the No Adren, No Lock, and No Powerups. No Adren kinda defeats the gameplay uniqueness that is UC2 so Im up in the air about that. However in UT2k4 Adren is off in 1v1s. The No Lock I think would be nice, but its a much needed aid at times and also eliminates the usefulness of certain characters adrenaline abilities. So again, up in the air about that as well. I want to keep powerups in since 1v1s are about control of the map, but I dont like the fact that the Damage Amp is in and there is no mutator to just remove that. Again, competitive 2k4 has powerups on, but damage amp off. Its either all or nothing for UC2. =/

I'd recommend discussing the rules with the other competitors and ultimately deciding from there. Definitely keep the maps smaller and have a best out of (insert number here) match.

well its nice to have the rules done before the tourney so that people can have time to prepare for it instead of all of a sudden just being thrown in. Im just gonna talk with my other admin on the matter and we'll decide and that will become the standard.
smaller maps yes for 1v1, thats typically how games work anyways. You dont want spawn rape though, but dont want too much of a cat and mouse game. Thats why I was asking for the opinions of you guys who are avid players as well... just want some input really.

For 1v1, I'd lose Ascension and Cold Fusion.
