UT2006/2007 GameType request "cDOM"

Please put in the option for Classic Domination. I don't ever play the newer DOM. The Classic Version was more fast paced and didn't lead to a game where no one got anywhere. I hate playing for 20min just to see the score is 0-0.

Revisit your UT99 roots.

Although I don't play either anymore, I think Bombing Run shouldn't be canned without at least some though into ways to expand/modify/improve the gametype. I do think there's some potential there, it just needs someone to find it.

I can't really see the same possibilities for DDOM myself, though I'm sure some people probably have ideas to make it better (not counting changing it to cDOM :p).

Keep everything as it is (and Mutant, Invasion, etc too), but change DDOM to cDOM.

I agree BR sux... But DDOM and cDOM shouldn't be put in the same class. cDOM would be voted better everytime.

I agree completely. There IS a cDOM mod somewhere out there, but no one ever seems to play it when I'm on. That's a shame too, cDOM and BR tend to be the fastest pased games where (at least for BR) the better team wins, not just the team with the top one or two players.

cDOM should definately NOT be included in the new ut.. first off, if you want a large competitive community you want as little mods as possible. Secondly, it wouldn't have more than a hundred people playing it; so having epic make maps and develop this mod would waste precious effort that could be used else where.

I think Domination is obsolete. Sure, I had fun with it, but it sure didn't make the game.

Too many different gametypes will ruin the game. I really enjoyed good ol classic DOM, though it has never been more popular than DM and CTF.

If Epic made a clanwar setup system for a server which took a clanwar through TDM CTF DOM and so on they could maybe set a standard of how clanwars should be played.

The community can do this too probably, but its really hard to get it as a standard then.

i reluctantly agree... too many gametypes does lead to spoiling the whole.

maybe somewhere down the line a "Gametype Bonus pack" could be thought about, but Unreal DM/TDM, CTF, ONS and CONQUEST sounds good to me...

the player numbers for the other game types just dont justify inclusion, and in this case Less might equal more players for the "standard" gametypes and more players (especially online) overall.

(edit) that said i would hope that this time epic includes 4 team support for CTF and TDM (which if the eight team game for CONQ happens sounds like should be cake).

I love Domination, its really cool, why you guys are attacking it? i also like Bombing Run, every typeof game, but my preferred is Domination and DM (DM mostly).

I agree with Dominator, I tend to get stepped on my toes when someone just says: BR/DOM sucks.
I respect every gametype tough I dislike some, but you don't hear me saying ONS and INV sux, don't you?

I sure hope Domination (UT '99 Domination) is included because it is awesome and intense. In CTF you can take a couple seconds off, but in Domination, if you really want to help your team, you have to hustle 100% of the time.

Of course, if it isn't included in Envy, someone will probably create a mod for it.

One more note to Epic. I recently purchased the Half-Life Platinum Collection pack as well as Tribes 2 and I am appalled at just how messy and difficult the file and folder structure is for those games. I can't speak for UT 2003 and UT 2004's file systems, but one of the great things about UT '99 is how easy it is to understand the file structure--maps go into the Maps folder, Music tracks go into the Music folder, etc.

I think instead of reusing the classics (except for stuff like CTF and DM), they should consider developing new gametypes. Like they are doing now. BR was fun, but had a way to small fanbase.

They need to develop new game types instead of reinventing already great ones. They should reuse the classic types since the "new and improved" games types just aren't that.
