Shock Rifle VS. Melee (a quick thought)

Many people have advised switching to melee when using the Shock Rifle against a melee person. This is one counter ability. The easiest people to beat are the ones who lunge; naturally, the combos should be easy when you know their paths. Fighting the melee people running at you is also really easy. Run backwards away from them and set up shock traps. They'll run right into them.

Maybe, but people are suggesting you switch when they get close enough to you because when they do you can't do that. If they get past a certain point it won't let you freeze a core or shoot them soon enough to hit them with combos and since melee is more damaging that's why people suggest you switch. Plus they will catch up to you if you don't kill them first, your running speed increases with melee out. Which is why it's a good idea to do just that as a flag runner, plus it will allow you to shield and reflect which will also help you stay alive long enough to get to the base.

but heres a tip off topic of shock vs. shock.

pull your shock out and its battle of the primaries, because its silly to shoot a chock ball when the other guys shooting at you with shock primary.

i always get owned when using melee and trying to catch a guy using shock, i just cant reflect the primary, and im a light, so it only takes a few hits.

This is advanced and damn near requires a light character, but it's worth perfecting:

If you're in a situation where you let a melee guy get in close and you have space to run, turn away from him and fire a shock secondary just above your head somewhere close in front of you. Start turning as you run under it, and as soon as you turn around, blow up your shock secondary. The persuer should be right underneath it when you blow it up, and that usually does them in, or puts them within a couple of primary shots of death.

If you aren't coordinated enough to do this, you can just start peppering the area with frozen secondaries and try to set them off in a big chain reaction and try to get lucky, but if you have to resort to this, you're being outplayed and you shouldn't expect to live.

You can still accomplish this in tight spaces, but you're gonna have to think on your feet for that one. But if you get stuck in a tight space and you're not equipped to fight your enemy melee, then you're going to reap what you sow (that's a poetic way of saying they're going to kill you).

^^true i always see something like that coming and if someone is spaming traps i just pull out my pistols start chaargin them and teleport behingd them...BAM CDG (or a severly damaging blow)

Reflect their shock balls back at them. Believe it or not. It works very well if you aren't too far away from them. One time i reflected a shock ball at a guy and he fired his primary twice the first one missed the secodn one hit the shock ball right in front of his face. It was funny as hell. I didnt get the kill though as it was considerd a suicide..but i lived and he lost a point :)

^Yeah it would if i saw you comming. Its easy to throw someones timing off with the Shock Rifle by hopping forward at them just as they fire, then i reflect or sometimes i get hit directly with the ball but the combo wont resolve, once i get close enough I just melee them down and drop Vamp Cloud or if they have a lot of life i plant some flak in their chest.

Admittedly i still need to improve my reflecting skills but I am very good at dealing with the shock rifles as I use it myself.
