So what are your favorite Unreal games and why?
legacy--Mithan-

Probably a cross between Unreal and UT2004. I loved the original Unreal and remember the PC Gamer magazine that came out in the summer of 96 or so, that previewed it. It was one of the LONGEST FPS's I have played to date and definitly had a lot of areas that simply made you go "wow". It was a lot of fun. I think it would be cool to see it rereleased with an upgraded engine.
I played UT2004 to death last year when it first came out. Onslaught mode is simply a blast to play.

Mithan, I know, you are not an EPIC employee... ...but do you know something we do not know???
LAst words I heard was from EPIC's president that Midway is going to do one PC game in the Unreal franchise, anf that it will NOT be Unreal 3. He then said "do the rest of the math yourself".
So I (and others) suggested it is UT3 (2006)...??

Sorry, I was under the impression that Epic was doing Unreal 3. I havn't followed the game other than its initial tech demo that came out last year at E3 (I think).

Good for me, as I am looking forward to UT3 (2006) more than I would look forward to Unreal 3.

I'm an ONS junky and I like the mods on UT2k4 so I have to say thats my favorite so far.
As far as Unreal 3 or Unreal Tournament "something here" Epic did say they would do them I'm pretty sure, just not before their next yet to be announced first Unreal Engine 3 game.
I mean whats the point of calling it the Unreal Engine anymore of their isn't going to be an Unreal game in the future on it :)

Pretty much the same goes for me :) I'm still playing Unreal1 myself and am continuously working on keeping one of its mods up-to-date, the only game in the series IMO that matches/beats it's replayability and fun is UT2k4.
EDIT: I would love to see the series go back to it's roots and release a single game with both singleplayer and multiplayer aspects combined ;) That's what I hope Unreal3 to be...

Unreal1 it was long great, the storytelling was sublime you found bits and pieces of the storyline, even after playing trough it several times you could find yourself new infos that you previosly had missed...
Skaarj attacked you with wrist blades energy attacks and hand held weapons...
You had armor, shields weapons, inventories with bunch of intresting gadgets...
Oh and AutoMags:p I as many wish Epic would do a game more along the lines of Unreal1...

UT2004, most definitely.
As for future games, Epic has said that they'd LIKE to do a Unreal 3 eventually, but it's no sure thing. They've also said that they most definitely WILL do another UT on another engine, but not to expect to too soon, as they're doing atleast one other game first.

Unreal Tournament has sapped most of my life. (Almost topping Quake, but that ain’t Unreal. ;))
I’ve put more hours into UT2003 than UT2004, but have to say that I appreciate UT2004 much more.

Mine favorite Unreal game is with out a dought UT2004. IMO it is the best pc game out right now. It has a strong community and really good players. I was never much of a fan of the unreal series outside of UT, they just didn't seem all that great to me.
But UT2204 is great and yeahh...(>")>

I love UT2004. It's a blast to play and every mode keeps me hooked.
However, I'd have to go with UC1 on this one. Not for what it had to offer, but because it was my first online game and I played it for over 2 years. Never has a game kept me that long (Halo 2 is even starting to lose it). I also made many XBL friends through it and such. It was great and I was very sad to see the people slowly dissapear from it. I was there until the end...

It must be UT2004. But I still like UT99 because of it's atmosphere and the music, it gives the classic feeling. The atmosphere in UT99 is the thing that makes it so good!
UT2004 is now the best because of all the effects and other things. It's really good.

I think UT2k3 and 2k4 rocks more than UT Classic.
UT2k3 i played the most time iCTF was totaly funny but with UT2k4 i wanted normal weapons and it is soooo great!

Unreal.Just that one moment when you step out of the vortex rikers into the open and that wonderous music starts playing as you look with awe at the spectacular scenery is just the best moment i have ever experienced in a game (second best was being locked in the tunnel with the skaarj).Simply amazing, and such a shame that no one has managed to recreate a game with such atmoshpere

Epic could possibly be doing Unreal 3. Legend we're closed so there needs to be someone doing Unreal 3.
My fav' currently is UT2004/UT i still enjoy both and I need to get back in to Unreal 1 & 2 as I need some single player games to keep me going.

I love UT2004, its the best mix of UT and UT2003 out there. U2XMP was a good alternate for when I wanted something less chaotic. Unreal 2 was good, but the game ended too quickly.

Hunter - Epic said they'd like to do an Unreal 3, but it's not a sure thing, and it's definitely not already in the works. Well, unless they've started it since they said that mid last year, which I doubt - taking the size of their development house and UC2/Gears of War into consideration.
They've said there WILL be another UT on UE3, but that's about all they've said pertaining to that.

I cast my vote for the original Unreal Tournament. The CTF gameplay was just awesome and featured a near perfect chemistry of movement and weapons.
If the UT Revolution people do a good job with the UT classic mod that they are making for UT 2004, I'll have to hurry up and build that new computer I keep dreaming of, and I would bet that many of the UT players who didn't like UT 2003 and UT 2004 would be willing to give UT 2004 another chance, albeit with the UT Revolution classic mod.

I have no favorite between these games. They were all my favorite some time or another, and each one I've claimed to be "The Best Game Ever" only to have that game pwned by another Unreal.

Well i have UT 2004,Unreal 2: The Awakening, and Unreal Championship.
I would to say Unreal Championship because my peice of **** computer is to slow for UT 2004.
Further comments are that i thought U2:The Awakening was awful for the X-Box,no-fence.
By far UC2 is the only game so far that I've been this excited for.
I'm a Halo hater so its not very easy to excite me.
Its funny but i traded in 12 games for this game and I can't wait for the outcome! :)

"Unreal Tournament"
Recomended CPU Pentium 233/266MHz, 64 MB Ram, 605mb of HD space, PCI Local Bus Video card.
The UT and Quake 3 games owned the FPS world. I'm glad I stuck with UT all these years. I tried UT 2003 but it just didn't have the same feel despite the look of the levels. The UT game had more of a natural fluid flow to it. The mods and voice packs alone were worth the price. But it was the open code for level design the made the UT what it is. It allowed very talented people to share their ideas with fellow gamers and it constantly expanded the UT universe. Can't say thanks enough to those "level designers" for all my fun.
Even after five years this game is still a blast to play.

Unreal 1 just for the unrealness of it, quake never could compete. Who can remember the first time you walked out of the Vortex Rikers into Nyleve Falls and went "Wow, this is unreal!" then smacked yourself in the head for saying it.
UT2004 is the game i play now, yeah i play others but i always find myself coming back to UT, Why? Because it's so much damn good fun!

Most definitely Unreal 1. That game changed my life! :) I remember, back then... no internet access, just the printed "readme" explaining a few basic principles of the editor... a P100 with voodoo1 that was way too slow to run the game :D and lots of bad mapping attempts that went to the trash can :)
It's been quite a leap.

Unreal Tournament, and that's not going to change until at least the next Unreal game. That said, I don't actually play UT anymore apart from an occasional nostalgic iCTF game. UT2004 is my playing game now, it's not my favourite, but it's what I get most fun out of right now.
UT was my first out of the lot (aside from 1 bot match on DM-Ariza in Unreal but I didn't even know what game I was playing at a friends house back then :p ), and it made a lasting impression on me that's going to be hard to ever beat out of my head. I'd be more than happy if the next UT game did that though :D

Yeaahhh...NyLeve's Falls. In my eyes the Original Unreal Episode is still the best FPS of them all. I never enjoyed playing a game that much and of course I liked the addon as well. I now even started to build some singleplayer-maps (with UnrealEd2.0) on my own to have an alternative continuing.
But when UT (G.O.T.Y.) was published, it cought me almost as strongly as Unreal.
I like the classic games most because they work best on my poor machine :P

UC2 It has almost everything I want from a tournament style game.
The only possible thing EPIC can do now to improve the Unreal games is uping the scale (full on Unreal Warfare would make me **** my pants) and adding more class/species/rpg elements to the game.

It's sad that there are so little new coop games out there. Unreal 2 should definately support it.

nice fast and uncomplicated fragging and if you want something more tactical here you are -> go play onslaught :) can you ask for more?!
