Sorry, but this forum is intended for Unreal discussion. Locking topic.
I played Arena Nets Guild Wars last weekend and it really impressed me making me think what games i would want to play in the future.
Its a Fantasy game and i much more prefer a Sci-Fi game but what can you do? a Good Game is a GG is a GG.
So whats so special with GW you ask? (yea you did)
Let me answer that by putting it in an Unreal perspective.
If Epic had made GW it would have looked like this,
Think of it like Unreal and UT in the same game.(im assuming most of you have played the original Unreal)
You start off in the Unreal part where you can explore the world freely and when you find a City or larger outpost it appears on the World Map so that you can click them and instantly travel there (like a save system)
Or you can do the Co-Op Missions where you do sequential Missions that reveals the Story of the game.(these also opens up the World Map like the Explore part)
When you have discovered a certain percentage of the World map you unlock the UT part of the game.
Now you can enter Arenas that are to be found in some of the Cities.
In the cities you can register Clans.
When you enter the Arenas you group with others playing Team Games. (be it as a clan or just some random people)
Theres only one Ladder worldwide managed by Epic (UTStats with Clan Support)
Since all game parts are connected you can play some CTF with the same guys you later on play some Co-Op with (without even leaving the world) and there you can maybe find a new enhanced weapon (or just cooler) or some Dye that you can color parts of your Armor or weapon.
The more Co-Op Missions or Explore you play the more different and unique your character will look in the Arenas.
Now Guild Wars is a bit more complicated with more RPG parts but basically its it.
Arena Net is trying to do ALOT at the same time and i guess theres much that can go wrong.
Amazingly GW is NOT pay to play and personally i hope it will be a huge success and that other companies (Epic ;)) copy them.
What do you guys think about this?
Is this a type of game that would appeal to you and im talking more about the TYPE of game not Guild Wars specifically.
