I'm not really doing this out of anger, but my thread directly related to UC2 and also Halo 2 was recently locked. I love Epic, Mithan is a good mod, and these boards are an awesome place to come and discuss UC2 which will btw rock everyone's socks...so hear me out :D
http://forums.epicgames.com/General_Discussion/b10667/19241014/?13
These are the ONLY rules the forums here have:
http://forummedia.epicgames.com/images/rules/rules.htm
If we aren't allowed to COMPARE UC2 to any other game or so much as MENTION other games when the discussion DIRECTLY relates to UC2 even in the "General Discussion" area [which is the only condition that is necessary to create threads here according to current rules], please make an 11th rule saying so or edit rule #3.
Not really doing this out of spite/anger or anything, but I really didn't think that that thread was going to be locked. Please let us know what we can and cannot post before you lock our threads, thank you :)

I enjoyed that thread and i thought it was related to UC2 it looked like bungie is trying to ruin UC2 I agree
I didn't really care if Halo was involed. Its the fact UC2 has its own area and is the only game to have it. Yet people seem to get lost... a lot and post here. Some people post here and ask about "where to get the demo", "is this game good for when u have company" or "getting the game opening day" then NEVER in the post say what game they are talking about. Most know its UC2 yet you would think if its not on the UC2 forum WTF are they talking about?

Spaz not too sure I got what your point was :P
And unrlPPLE, you actually made my (poopy) day :D lol thnx ;)
EDIT: And just to be clear, the reason it was locked was "Sorry, this forum is for Unreal & Epic Games discussion, not Halo 2." I mean...how was it NOT about Unreal + Epic games discussion? :( (Again, not in any way meant to be flaming the mods here :( )
[face_raised_brow]
It wasn't really about your thread in general. Its mainly people have been tending to not use the UC2 forum and making very generic posts here for UC2. So generic that some don't even state the game(UC2) they are talking about. The point is maybe a map of the internet needs to be provided since some seem to be lost.

I know it does pertain to UC2, but I think since people (obviously) are touchy about the appropriate topic in appropriate forum thing, I just decided to go into General because 1) What *exactly* does "General" mean? and 2) It doesn't just pertain to UC2, it pertains to H2...so putting it in a UC2 exclusive forum didn't seem like quite the right way to go :P
"appropriate topic in appropriate forum thing"
Its not that its a big deal when a few do it. The problem is when its overdone. Maybe GD should be more off-topic type of discussion. With EPIC's games in different areas like the UC2 board.
"1) What *exactly* does "General" mean?"
IMO..
Epic Games - General discussion not pertaining to any single game.
UC1, Unreal, Unreal 2, UT99, UT2003, UT2004 and UT2006/2007.
Unreal Championship 2 - Everything about UC2
Any UC2 topic should go there.
All board with only EPIC games... Flame Wars are why they are not going to allow other games.

Well, let's say you're a popular developer and your fans are all about to buy your latest "New Game".
Suddenly at your very own message board a fan instigates a conspiracy theory by mentioning how another popular developer releases new stuff for their "Old Game".
I can see how you would prefer not to have that kind of thing on your very own doorstep.

That sounds fair I guess...but ya know, how was I supposed to know that? I just heard it now from you :(
"I can see how you would prefer not to have that kind of thing on your very own doorstep. " ~The great Retadon ;)
Well...I didn't mean it to be, like, a deadly serious topic or something we should all march over to Bungie's place with torches and pitchforks for, ya know? lol :) It was just a kind of interesting thing that MAY or MAY NOT have an impact on UC2's sales :) So I guess what I'm saying is I can't exactly see how they would prefer not to have that kind of thing on their doorstep :P

Don't worry, I don't consider myself great. :)
I consider myself 1 voice amongst the many, just another opinion you can read/hear and choose to agree or disagree with.
I'm usually not dead serious about anything I talk about myself, life is more fun if you're not.
I just meant to say I understand someone would rather not have a fight, or just a discussion on his board even if the majority was on his side.
Actually if it was my board I don't think I'd mind, it could make for an interesting read, bring some views on the thing I didn't think of, but it's not, it's Epic's, and Epic is a company with bigger concerns.
I suppose it all comes back to the fact that the world isn't just black and white.
As the moderators, what will you allow on your board, and what goes to far?
If you let every moderator decide for himself, there will be chaos.
Person A gets banned by mod X because he used a swear word, but person B only gets a warning from mod Y after flaming multiple persons personally for no reason.
If you make strict rules, there will always be instances some people don't agree with, but most of the time at least it will be clear why somebody gets a warning or even banned.
Even then moderators are only humans, they make mistakes, they miss stuff, and in the end it's never completely fair.
In conclusion, I'm not siding with Epic here, nor anyone else, just commenting on how it's hard to properly moderate a message board.
I still agree with you if you say the rules could use a little work, could be made a bit easier to see for the new board users perhaps.

I will make adjustments but we are not going to allow X vs Y game discussions here, sorry.
