There's a new update for the 360 out. I've asked the various honchos at Microsoft whether UC2 now has emulation support or not. As soon as they let me know, I'll post the information to the list.

Ofcourse you didn't. However, I'm talking about most of the players/clans in general. I found out, most of them can't do anything worth a damn without the rail gun. I have more fun playing with peeps who use everything else but the rail gun. But that's ok, Quake is no Unreal for sure.

Something you should know about me is that I avoid all of that cheap nonsense, which seperates me from the average player.

Nothing. Just let it be until something worth it comes out. The most use mine has had in the past few months is to play a DVD. But with GRAW and Burnout Revenge coming out next week that's all about to change.

It'll be the same game with a better controller (basically). More people? That's pretty much undetermined. My guess, UC2 on the 360 will be emulated terribly - just like most of the BC games so far (*moan*).

I'm sorry but the more I hear about this system, and the less I want to purchace it, ever.More and more I agree with Tommy Talarico's little sworthy self: "The X-box 360 is like the Sega Dreamcast of this generation.It came out too early, but is still a good system with good games, but will not end up a major factor in the next generation of console wars."

IT's sad to say, but if PS3 decides to sit on there hands they can just screw Microsoft over like that by statnating the market on their own , than sweeping it up, or Nintendo regains much needed ground.The latter I may prefer because then Microsoft can still hold a piece of the pie similar to the cube last time around and stay in it.IF thay want to be a MAJOR force this time around...they gotta get some stuff out there thats for the 360 that is SOOO FIRE that you are not even thinking about UC2 or your old Xbox games.

I know when I got a PS2 I was not EVEN thinking about playing any PS1 games.I had 3 new BAD BAD, TOTALLY technologically on the cutting edge, games.You had never seen anything like any of these games.There was Final Fantasy x, DevilMay cry, and MEtalGear Solid 2....dude back then see those game KILLED most PC games of the time until more UT stuff came out really.THen when I got an Xbox, I was l=not thinking about PS2 all that much.THis is graphically speaking, of course.Well the 360 games look like semi decent PC games, and thats on a high def TV.I'd hate to see what it would look like on my buddy's crappy Apex with S-video.UT2004 with a crappy graphics card is still superior looking tto the games.Now true Sony has only movies or whatever, but that stuff looks really cuutting edge, so if it's what it looks like, barring B.S. from Sony's videos etc, then it's going to be a slaughter.Not to mention UT is basically guaranteed for PS3, but Xbox is HIGHLY unknown.

In many ways, I also feel that Microsoft may have jumped the gun a bit when deciding to release this next-gen console so early. However, I'm surely convinced the 360 just needs adequate time to develop. Furthermore, there's absolutely no way this console will suffer a demise like the Almighty Dreamcast - and even if it did, I wouldn't really care.

To me, the Dreamcast remains one of the best consoles ever created, that had some of the greatest games exclusive to that system. Heck, I was first introduced to Unreal because of their online network. 56K Dial-Up UT was the shiznit! Man I miss those days. The 360's online component is second to none, so even if LIVE skates them through these console wars - at least they have something.

Anyhow, Microsoft definitely knows what they're doing - even if they've made a few mistakes along the way. The only real element of the 360 that I consider a flop is backwards compatibility. I've said it before and I'll say it again... They should've either made every original Xbox game BC, or completely ditched the idea all together. Also, emulation can be a terrible way to play games - since the process will rarely run as smooth.

Patience is definitely the key. Heck, when the original Xbox came out, it took damn near forever to really catch on - but it did eventually.

I'm really sorry you feel that way about the 360 shred. But Sony and thier PS are committing vital mistakes which might actually make them lose the so called-console wars. It's seems the president of PS or whatever he is, is asking too much from the game devs (ie. enhancing thier game development to suit the PS3 may hit thier budget pretty tough.) It just so happens that most of those devs preferred to work for MS & thier Xbox 360. Which probably means XBox 360 will have more games out than PS3.

The Xbox 360 has the chance to do it.....they just need the games...By what they say in in that thing I think it can do some great things...but from what I'm seeing AND hearing it sounds bad...maybe in ayear or two,...but that should'nt be the case with your brand new next gen system.

Agreed. He made this whole BC thing more complicated then it should have been. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if later down the line a new version of the 360 is released with BC correctly done on it making it able to play all XBOX games.

Funny how the PS3 will be BC with the PS2, and PS games, but MS can't seem to get right.
I was told Halo1 is BC, but the bugs because of it make the game incompletable.
UT2007 will be on the PS3, so if I ever do decide to get a console, it will be that one.

I don't think they are going to go multi-platform man.They may, but I would think at least one of the two would try to get some sort of exclusive rights to the game.IT may come out on 360, but will probably be one of the 2 years later crappy ports, but those are somethimes better, but rarely.

Well, and after reading your explanation - you may just be right. It's quite possible that Epic is looking to make a name for themselves on PS3 (utlimately hoping to become the Bungie of Sony's next-gen system).
However, making a game exclusive to only one console could definitely hurt their sales figures (not that Halo had a problem though).

Even still, it just doesn't make sense for Epic to completely abandon the entire Xbox fanbase - especially those same folks who supported them during their last few releases over the years. Then again, it may be simply be a money issue and politics will prevail if this happens to be the case. These developers aren't dumb though, as it's quite apparent the 360 has major potential - especially with their online capabilites.

Take Grand Theft Auto 3, which was supposed to be the Playstation's Baby... sooner or later, it was ported over to Xbox because Rockstar realized the opportunity it provided them. In the end, it was a very smart move on their part and this decision turned out to be a complete success. Hopefully, Epic won't make the mistake and keep UT 2007 strickly on PC and PS3 - if they do, it's gonna' hurt them.

Not to mention, I really don't feel like supporting the PS3 myself - so that means upgrading to a brand new PC.[face_sad]

You're absolutely right, and it wouldn't have bothered me in the least if UC2 was also on the PS2. Heck, I'm all about cross platforming every game if the possibility's there. However, UC2 would've ran like absolute garbage on Sony's less inferior hardware - that's a fact. Hence, the reason why the original UC never saw the light of day on PS2. Anyhow, I do wanna play UT 2007 on both PC and consoles - but I really don't feel like plunking down the extra cash on a PS3, just for that game.

Not yet for UC2. BC is my only gripe about the 360. Sadly, I wish they wouldn't have committed to this cause. If someone needs to play their old Xbox games, play them on your original Xbox. If you happened to sell your Xbox for a 360 (hoping to see BC as a flawless option), well - too bad I guess.

My purchase has already been worthwhile for the 360. I ordered Oblivion yesterday and here's hoping this game really sucks me in for a great time. Heck, I rarely play RPGs myself, but every once in a while they hit the spot. KOTOR and Fable are a few of my favs, and Oblivion is supposed to be freakin' insane.

UC2 is better than any 360 game out thus far - no doubt. Street Figher 2 Hyper Fighting is going to rock XBL Arcade soon - hopefully it won't be too expensive of an arcade purchase. I'm hoping that it doesn't exceed 1200 Microsoft Points, however, I'm betting it'll be at least 1600 (simply because they know people will pay it).

Having played most online multiplayer games for the 360 i would say they are all very disapointing but the console is great, however recently i bought Ghost recon advance warfighter and that game is amazing and i think it does compare to UC2 and would give them both a 4 out of 5 for everyhting!!!!!

Never was a big Ghost Recon Fan myself, but I've heard only positive things about Advance Warfighter. Anyhow, the 360 is an amazing system with some pretty amazing features - but the games have only been mildly entertaining so far. Even still, most gamers (myself included) are easily impatient and forget this system has only been out for a few months. Heck, every console needs time to develop and ultimately make a name for itself. People have been way too critical of the 360 with absolutely no reasons to back-up their views.

Well said guys. I'm a fan of both fast and slow paced games - however, anything moving along at the Unreal pace is definitely more to my liking. I'm actually a huge fan of Rainbow Six and other slow-as-molasses moving titles. Even still, playing these games now after becoming a super hardcore Unreal fan is like comparing night and day.

Microsoft just released a BC update the other day - but it only supports Battlefront 2, Black, and FIFA. Battlefront is cool, but it was a pretty small list nonetheless. 3 games?[face_not_talking]

Thats cuz sony didn't use emulation. They have the same hardware that runs ps games built in, unlike MS who chose not to do that because they didn't want to limit the power of the 360.

Yep, what he said. I'm not exactly sure why gamers are so gung-ho over backwards compatibilty anyway. Sheesh, if people had any sense what-so-ever, they wouldn't sell their original Xbox.

That's cool though, you're looking out for someone else and did a nice gesture. Last year I bought my older brother an Xbox for his birthday, but he never uses it - so I swiped it last month and began my UC2 Dedicated server. I needed to put this piece of equipment to use somehow - and it's benefiting our community at the moment.

They could make it for PC probably. Seeing as the 360 controllers work on PC's. In any case I hope they get started on a UC3 game after they finish with Gears of War and UT2007.

The problems are because of the different hardware (video cards by different suppliers, same thing for CPUs), you can't just automagically make everything compatible, not with a new Xbox 360 either, unless that thing has 100% compatible hardware, or a 100% compatible emulator.
Blaming Bill Gates for that is OK I guess, but blaming him and actually being serious about it just means you have no idea how these things work.

i blame bill gates(all seriousness involved). rushing it to beat the ps3 they still have plenty of time. they do need to make alot of games b/c for example (uc,uc2,the warriors,godfather)

It'll be the exact same story though for PS3. Whenever there's a console (or any electronic gadget) launch of this kind of magnitude, faulty hardware will always be an issue no matter what.

Well, if Microsoft ever decided to get the ball rolling with this emulation business, then there's still hope. I'm sure sooner or later we'll see UC2 becom BC - I just wouldn't expect anything anytime soon. I just wanna' see UC2 displayed in 1080i myself - otherwise, I could really give a hoot since backwards compatibility is a complete farse.

It'd sadly likely be very buggy to like in other BC games. I.e. in SW:Battlefront 2 you can't shoot without walking forward, etc. A lot of BC games have very glaring bugs in them in my experience. Let's hope that doesn't happen for the latest BC games.
