I liked Ghost recon 3...It looked pretty cool, and DOA 4..well I'm just a fighting game fan so Mortal Kombat and DOA are my favs....but DOA 4 would be enough for me to dish out some cash for the new console.

I havnt read anything over UT2007 on the xbox. I know its going to the consoles, but havnt heard any info over it.
And i keep forgetting. GOW is going to be a totally different kind of game. It's a shooter, survival horror. Which is different than the UT shoot em up style.

From what Ive seen on both IGN and G4, I believe that this is THE killer app for the Xbox 360. That is probably the only reason I will by an Xbox 360. And I'm Surprised with all the features this game is capable of! this game is just pure and simple amazing!

here are some features of the game from GI. a REALLY BIG 4 story tall moster called the "Brumak". the game is mostly a cover and pop up and shoot your enemy (sorry that doesnt sound right.) you NEED to hide behind things to win. the main character is Marcus Fenix, brought back from a prison to fight the "locus Horde". who, during the pendulum wars, appeared out of the earth. oh, s**t, ill have to write this in a better way.


ok. GOW takes place on a planet called Sera, a planet much like earth. humans cover the surface, and have not yet mastered interstellar travel. Confined to their world, the inhabitants of Sera have created stunning civilisations that recall the splendid architechture of European cities like London and Prague. this world has experienced renaissance, a time of cultural growth and exitement. Unfortunatly, its a world that has lived to see its achievements destroyed and its beautiful cities layed to waste.
the conflict for the people of Sera begins when a new energy source is dicovered, one that can be used to power any of Seras machines with frightening effeciency. called Imulsion, this energy source becomes so desirable by all the governments of the planet that the entire world is plunged into war. the tide of battle shifts so frequently from one army to the next that the conflict becomes known as the Pendulum Wars. as the Pendulum wars rage on, Sera is torn apart, and looks as if the victor will only rule a over a wasteland. but then, just as the battles reach a fevered pitch, things get worse.
without any warning or explanation, a new army bursts forth from the center of the planet, a coalition of nightmarish beings bent on the destruction of humanity. This army is the Locust Horde, a group of creatures that live in Seras crust. These subterranean monsters can emerge from the ground at any point on the planet, and the various civilizations arequickly overpowered. The Locust attacks with such ferocity that humanity is pushed back to a single plateau on the planets surface. the first day of their attack is so swift and brutal that it is called E-Day, Emergence Day-the day which changed the course of Seras exsistance forever. but the people of Sera wont simply surrender to their hideous new enemy: from Jacinto, the one place the surface is thick enough that the Horde cant burst from underneath, mankind launches its final offensive.
banding together against their common enemy, the Coalition of Ordered Governmentsis formed, and its armies fan out from Jacinto to tackle the Locust invaders. Players will step into the role of Marcus Fenix, a disgraced soldier who was released fromm military prison in order to assist with the war effort. as the leader of Delta Company, a cut-rate COG military squad, Marcus' teamates include Dominic, the joker of the team, the dispatcher Anya, and the squads robotic backup Jack. Jack is a builderbot, capable of hacking computers, cutting throug locks, reviving fallen soldiers, and more. togehter with other members of delta compant, macus, dom, anya, and jack are the emotional core of Gears of War's story.
COG soldiers carry the best weaponry available, and the human forces have heavy reliance on technology. anlong with the builderbots, COG military squads are outfitted with with the most advanced armaments and vehicles, and the soldiers themsalves are even referred to as the gears. on the other had, the Locst Horde battles with far ess advanced means. although the Locust troops carry guns, their tactics are far more organic, using giant monsters as weapons, rather than vehicles. as such, gears of war is a game of technology versus nature, miliary against mosters. the COG has a distinct advantage during the day and in air combat, while the Locust have the edge during night and on ground.
Marcus Fenix is a character who has fallen from grace. On the first day of the Locust attack, Marcus deserted his post in order to find and protect his father from the invasion. although his intentions where noble, Marcus' actions landed him in jail. when he is released to join the fight, his battle against the creatures serves at his attempt to rebuild his shatterd reputation.
Eric Nylund helped makethe storyline, the guy who wrote the Halo books. the arms in the game include rifles, pistols, and shotguns. in most of the combat Marcus and delta company will face off against male Loucst soldiers: hulking, ugly creatures with gray skin, beady eyes, and a mouthful ofrazor sharp teeth.you will face deadlier creatures than those, including the Berserker, a nine-foot tall monstrosity that cant even be scratched by the weapons you carry one your first encounter. on your fist meeting with this menacing foe, the only way to survive will be to find a powerful energy weapon carried by one of your squad. problem is, that person is dead. you must survie the creatures attack long enough to find the weapon on a battle field littered with bodies.
the Locust horde include all types of creatures from the small to the enormous-giant monsters that will topple everthing in their wake as they luimber towards you across the ground, burst through the ground from below, even attack from the sky. one such creature is the Brumack, enormous monsters several stories tall that are bristleing with weaponry. the huge beasts are so large that smaller members of the Horde actually ride them- they are the living eqivalent of the COGs aremored vehicles. all of the COGs vehicles in the game are based on reality, much like the weapons. expect to see Armored Personel Carriers, attack helicopters and the like, but no dropships or other standard ssci-fi vehicles.

when Marcus aproaches cover, he will automaticly go behind it.
there are "watercooler moments" as CliffyB calls them, that are really cool moments in the game where big battles and cool scenes take place.

Y'know, I would like to know more about these "Water-cooler moments". I've already seen one in the E3 video. But I would like to know more. I also read in the latest G.I, that there is supposedly a W.C.M in every section of a/level. Is this true? of did I misread this article?

Yes in the console world its only for the XBOX but it will also be for the PC. I don't consider the PC to be a major thread to consoles.

Only reason I care about xbox 360 or consoles in general is because of this game alone. Just hope they dont take 2 years like halo did for it to hit the PC.

Then on IGN there is G4Tech TV stuff about it. Nothing really interesting.

I remember seeing something different, but I think I dreamt it.

I really like the Intimate Death feature. It explains the chainsaw on the gun.
