I've just started using Unreal ed for ut2k4 this week. Anyway I'm getting this error when I click build all.

Now I"ve tried searching for the actor. I've found it but I can't locate it:

THE ERROR:

My question is, How can I locate the actor to modify/delete it??

thanks for any help given:)

You can't delete the levelinfo, it's (afaik) an integral part of the map file.
Still an actor, but like the myLevel package, it's kinda built into the map itself.
You access it from the menu bar View>LevelInfo, it's where essential stuff like the gametype the map is for, preview screenshot, the music, the title of the map & mapper's name etc.. is all stored & referenced.

Anyhow, look at it from the other way round, rather than try to delete the actor that flags an error, why not fix the error?

It's telling you the bot-paths need to be rebuilt, and looking at your pic, I see there's no path network, so my guess would be you need to do the bot-pathing.

I won't go into it now, because there's tons of tuts on good path networks (google for Blitz' tutorail on bot pathing, it's good), but don't fret it for the time being - that error wont stop you play-testing the map (although some errors can).

If you've just started I'd concetrate on learning the building, & then begin on the bot-pathing once you're *reasonably* happy with the map structure.
The build-all dialogue often flags up errors, some are killers, and some are just an annoyance until you get round to fixing it. :)

Remember, you might well have to make the odd change when you come round to pathing, at first it's easy to make a cool lookin' map, but one that's very hard to bot-path, so just be prepared to make the odd alteration when you're ready to do the bot-navigation.

Best of luck matie. :)

Man, all i gotta say is well said jim lol

If you need any other help on bot pathing, look at the video training modules made by 3dbuzz. They sure helped me. They explain how a bot thinks, where it wants to go, etc., which will help you when you're pathing.

There lots of them and I did'nt even know there was a bot pathing video training module. Going to search 4 it now.

Well BigJim good post and buildig the AI is important but you will get that message if you have not allowed the editor to do a complete build of your level after adding a new actor/anything to that level.

Usually that message is a result of clicking on the "Check map for errors" tab which is listed in the tools tab and not a result of the build all.

If you do a "check map for errors" before you do a complete "Build all" then you will see that every time due to the fact that the editor has not been allowed to run its full build of AI/navigation ect. Does not matter if you have bot paths or not because bot paths are just one small part of the AI navigation points.

And you will notice that the last part of the build all is "Adding the reachspecs", LOL, or building of the AI navigation. If its not done then "Paths need to be rebuild" for the completion of that build.

Now you should have at least 1 playerstart in your level or some other form of a navigation point like a pickup or a pathnode ect ect, and I hope you do!

Anyway Rufuzmc dont sweat that and just keep working on your level!

Good luck..

Umm yes where do I know you??

Anyway I've expanded the level and fixed that errors Now I'm doing pickups and such.

Btw, I'm using http://architectonic.planetunreal.gamespy.com/first_level.html as a tutorial. Very straightforward

thanks for the help
