Touchy Thread: Halo, what?

Dude, this game is shaping up to be a monster. In every aspect.

I guess you could easily say Halo 3 and Gears are two totally different games. My thing here is this: Halo has been the "it" game for MS and Xbox owners.

I truly believe Gears will have a loyal following and the multi-player will be as heavily rotated as Halo 2.

Halo is a great game in itself, but Gears of War is brining a new franchise to Xbox (360) and it could be AS big as Halo or possibly bigger.

It's fresh. It's graphically sexy. Gameplay owns. The mood is gritty. I think the name "Gears of War" will be a name to be reckoned with years to come.

Sequals? You betcha. (Epic? ;) )...but anyway, what do you guys think?

I would agree with that! Hopefully more people can see how amazing this game is so it will sell the most it can!

But seriously, yes gears is going to be great and have a big fan base and just generally kick ass but I don't ever see Master Chief being knocked off his throne.

Well it all depends on how Gears of War ends... say Marcus and others escape the planet or something, that leaves it off for a sequel... but if they take care of the Locusts... then i think it could be settled. But they could always show the game through another unknow character... but the game is about these locusts coming out from the ground... and i dont think these things have another layer if you kill them once... or for that matter live on another planet..

So depending on how Epic decides to end Gears, it could leave it off for a sequel (i dont know how they'd make a prequel cuz the game starts off pretty much at the beggining doesnt it? like i mean not playing but the storyline does start right when the creatures burst out.

As its the next halo... i never liked halo... seriously! lol. But Halo 3 does look good, so its hard for me to say its gonna be the next halo, but in success-wise, its gonna be up there.

I am very courios about this games ending too. Cliffy B has expressed a desire for a sequel so you know that there is some cliff hanger at the ending. As far as Halo is concerned. I really think Halo 1 was innovative. 2 ways a waste of time. Didn't even seem like the same game. I hope 3 is good, but i am way more excited about Gears... A whole new franchise that brings new gameplay and the best graphics to the plate. If you own a 360 you are gonna buy gears just so you can show your friend he wasted 600$ on a PS3. I want the PS3 to be good, but hounestly, non of the games are innovative or creative. The only reason i would buy one now is for UT2K7, and that is rumored to come to the 360!:)

If this games anywhere near the ratings everyone is making it out to be, there has to be a sequel for it. There is just to much money to be made if "the people" will buy.

gears of war will probably not have as big as a scene as halo did, halo 2 has mlg which makes many people play in hope of going pro and getting money, if MLG picks up gears of war then that is a whole new level of publicity

Its been described as a fast paced, white knuckle, stop and pop shooter. RAD if you ask me.

Gow could very easily beat Halo,
with what i've heard from its multplayer i think GOW will be very good.
I just hope you get a wide variety of maps,
or atleast downloadable conteny from Xbox live

Yeah I think GoW will beat halo, the bad thing about halo was that they really didn't finish it. And that's exactly the opposite from Epic, they don't release until they think it's done. Or of course until mr Gates becomes angry :p

Hello, everyone. This is my first post on this forum, so go easy.

The one problem I see here is that Halo has already built up a foundation, whether it's lame 10-year-old's or not. It is hands down the most popular Xbox game and probably 98% of the people who own Xbox's own Halo or Halo 2.(I have a 360, although I own Halo 2) Gears looks like a promising game, no doubt, and is probably half the reason I got a 360. But when Gears comes out, Halo 3 will be right around the corner, and it'll be finishing off the series. Gears will only be starting its franchise.

I'm sure, in time, that Gears will be a "Killer Halo" if that's what you prefer, although Halo has it's foundation built, and Gears isn't even out. No matter, I'd get this game over Halo 3 any day.
