View Full Version : 3369 not updating version number

I've tried re-running the patch countless times. I've tried "downgrading" to 3355, then upgrading again to 3369. I've even tried to downgrade to 3339 first. No matter what I do, my installation still says it's at 3355. Is there anything I can do short of installing a fresh copy?

Is it affecting the game in any way at all? You could try changing the version line inside the ini files from "3355" to "3369". Even in the registry itself.
The ini files you could change are:
Manifest.ini
UT2004.ini
In registry change the value Version in the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps\UT2004
Actually mine still said "3355" there.

Yup, I tried all those tricks too. I even moved everything in the system directory to another location for the patch install, then moved everything back without overwriting anything. Still didn't work. :bulb:
It's not affecting gameplay, but it will affect my ability to join servers eventually. Apparently it's going to be designated a mandatory patch, and some servers using the latest AntiTCC are already starting to reject clients below 3369.

I know a place where they can stick AntiTCC and all that crap that makes the game actually spend more time doing checks (and therefore delaying shots, stuttering, you name it) instead of letting the player... well... play.

It's not the application... It's how the server admins set it up. Blame them, not the application.

It's the way servers set AntiTCC that gives this 3369 problem here. However, AntiTCC is without any doubt a problem to a casual player. Sure it may help in actual competitive matches, etc. To a normal pub player it's a freaking useless mess.
I think it's not worth going on with this matter on this topic. Specially with the huge number of fan boys AntiTCC has around here. I bet there are way better things to a UT scripter to spend his free time...

Okay, now that everyone's gotten their daily pissing match over AntiTCC out of the way, the fact is that Epic has said they will be tagging 3399 as mandatory in the relatively near future. My understanding of that is any 3369 server will not be allowing pre-3369 clients to attach. This is my concern, and why I need to get it fixed.
Nobody has anything else I can try?

Bump.
Anyone? Someone from Epic, maybe?

I've already told you all I could and for that I got 4 Warning Level points...
Sorry I can't give you a solution.

Well, I just tried doing a brand spanking new install on an entirely different machine, and the same problem popped up. Version says 3355 even though 3369 is installed. I can't believe this isn't happening to anyone else.

I decided to give the MegaPack a try, since nothing else was working. Ran it, now it says 3369. :bulb: Why would that work when doing essentially the same thing with all the other patches doesn't?

What is the MegaPack, if you don't mind?
I came back from an extended vacation. I had installed 3369 back in December when it was released. Now I return, and I cannot get into my usual servers. I checked my inis - they read that I am updated. I reinstalled the patch just to make sure.
I still cannot get into the servers. So you say this is a server issue, not a game issue? Or both?
Love the "warned post" stuff. Did the Shrub buy Atari? Stinks of oppression.

The MegaPack is basically everything released to date. It's a 200 MB file available all over the place. Google on "UT2004 MegaPack" to find the best download for you. For whatever reason, that seemed to fix the version number issue for me. Whether it'll fix things for you, there's only one way to find out. ;)
I think the warned post thing was because it was offtopic and total flamebait.
