Hey all, haven't used these forums much but they seem like they'd be helpful. First off, I have a few questions:

1. Does UT2004 come with a skinning program like 2003 did?
2. I see everyone uses a program called "Maya" or something like that to model which came with UT2003. My question to you is...can I take an existing model, delete it's head, and add my own so all I really have to do is skin the new head and move it with the animations of the body?

Thanks for the help guys

Happy holidays!

1: If by Skinning you mean texture painting, then yes, there's a program called uPaint that'll be on the 6th disc or somewhere on the dvd depending on which version of UT2004 you bought. It'll be enough to do what you want. Now if by skinning you mean attaching the rig to the mesh and making sure the "skin" deforms properly, which is what skinning traditionally means, then you can use Maya or 3ds Max.

2: yes if you have the default models in a 3d format (.obj .3ds .mb) They are floating around the web somewhere, I think I saw them on File Planet at one point in time. Those versions aren't unwrapped though, so you would have to lay the uv's out again and that would be a huge pain in the ass to do properly if you want to use the textures that go with them. It would probably be less of a headache to just model your own character from scratch.
