Ok a while back.... I remember seeing something on the web about some kind of mod or mutator which allowed you to see in 1st person and see your character's feet and body etc.
Does anyone know what that was? Or where I could find it? I might be mistaken though... but the mutator does sound like a good idea. :D

The Infiltration folks (Beppo specifically iirc) created a mute for UT2k3 that did this (well pretty close to what you are looking for). I think it will still work for UT2k4. Link is here: http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=118017&highlight=ifor
