ok heres my problem...
i have 4, 90 degree revolved surfaces in diferent locations, but they are symetrical to eachother on the object. i want to assign 1 texture to all 4 of them and im only using a small part of the texture. 1st off i have to select the 90 degree sections and do a cylindrical mapping for each 1 seperately otherwise it does it wrong. so i do that and it looks fine but i want to move the texture up so it is displaying the part that i want and im just wondering if there is ne way to move multiple textures without re-mapping them 1st. im wondering this because if i have to move them all seperately there will be a very small margin on error and it will be time consuming and i would like to avoid both of those issues.

thnx

I'd probably make the entire surface, cylinder-map the texture, THEN cut it into quarters.

Not sure about the geometry of what you are making though.

Generally, in maya I'm finding out to texture map ASAP, before I do anything too fancy that precludes easy texture mapping later.

I dunno as your explanation seems a little confusing, but I think you might be able to do it by grabbing all the UVs and Moving them.

ok so how do u move uvs exactly because ive selected uvs before and tried to move them with the manipulator tool and it says that they cant be moved in the perspective view no matter which view i do it in, so maybe im going about it the wrong way or i have no clue what im talking about lol. if u want a better idea of what im doing e-mail me at jaulez@yahoo.com and ill send u 2 pics that i made of my object so maybe that will help u out in giving me an answer that i can use properly.

thnx

Maximize the Perspective viewport, then in the menu of the viewport goto: Panels/Saved Layouts/Persp--UV Texture Editor. Hmm, now that I think of it, this probably will only work if you Layed Out your UVs before.

I think your only option probably is to Planar(or whatever) Map them and Move the Texture where you need it for each peice.
