I was just wondering if anyone knows weather the huge enemies in the game (such as the brumak, corpser, or berzerker etc) will only appear once in the game as a boss battle?

Great Question! I think they are not bosses because ive seen them im more than one level. But IDK, thats something im still confused about

I got a feeling that the Berserker may be like a recurring boss battle like Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. It's just a random guess though.

I think the beserker fights with no weapons just pure hand to hand!

i think that u fight them randomly and only somtimes its a "boss fight", but im not sure

I'd say that Brumak's and Corpser's are going to be boss fights. I reckon earlier in the game Berserker fights will be one on one, but eventually it will progress to multiple Berserkers at once.

Ok thanks, it sounds cool. Is that the thing in the trailer that blows up the Serans cities?

PS completely off topic, can someone please reply to my fanfic. You can say it sucks if you want, it's just embarrasing having it sitting there with no replies :(

maybe when ur fighting a boss locust like the brumak or the corpser, u can shoot ur weapon, throw nades......but then if u get up close u can use ur chainsaw and cut the corpser's legs off, maybe one or 2 at a time, that would be awesome, kinda like Resident Evil, and that would obviously kill it alot faster

I was thinking that, but from what I've seen, the Corpsers legs are really very wide, and I doubt you'd have the time to sit there for a minute sawing the things leg off. But then again, Epic have said they're trying to get a lot of video game cliches into GoW, and the "weaken the boss until it falls down and gives you an opportunity to attack its weak spot" cliche is one of the biggest.

ya, thats what im thinking, you never know what EPIC has in store, it would be fun to be able to use the chainsaw alot in SP(for atleast that boss/level) since u dont get to use it as much in MP

From what we've seen they look like bosses, but that's a s***load of em comein out on E-day, on the trailer at least. I think therell be multiple fights.

I'm guessing you fight the Brumaks and Corpser as boss fights. We only see them before to give us an insight.
And most likely they will be battled against several times, bu with more appearing. So first time you fight one, then next time maybe three,

good theory. but after you fight one, i dont think that you would have to fight 3 the next time!:p maybe throw in another Brumak to make it two of em, or two Corpsers instead. maybe even mix it up a bit and have them bring out a Corpser and a Brumak! that would be ridiculously intense!

yes he does. its called The Corpser. and as you can see, its an arachnid type Locust. i also read that you fight it in the King Raven right after it picks you up. that should be pretty damn fun!:D i wonder if they will have a different heli-view for the gatling gun, compared to G.R.A.W.. who knows. what am i saying?! i guess i just need to wait a couple more months to find out myself!

well i think u get to fight them lots of times, b/c u obviously get ot battle them with guns and your squad(multiple times, with different variations), then maybe u get to use vehicles, and then u get to use the Hammer of Dawn against them too, so i am guessing u fight lots of big locusts!

The Evil Hat

it will probably be like in far cry instincts where the huge guys with one tiny arm and one huge one (forget what their called) where the first time its a boss fight but byt the end of the game you are up to fighting two or three at once

BerserkerCommander
07-06-2006, 12:37 PM
yeah, you'll most likely meet up with a Berserker and it will count as a boss battle but later on in the game you'll either have to face several at a time, battle them along with Drones, or possibly both. As for the Burmak, I'm almost positive it'll be a boss but i doubt you'll battle more then one on those at a time. If you get GI magizines look in one of last years and one of them talks all about GOW and how the Burmak WILL be a boss and you have to keep ducking for cover untill you reach a dead marines who has a laser gun. Only then can you do enough danage to kill it. As for the Corsper, I personally think you won't have to fight it all. It might only be in trailers and stuff before, after, or in the middle of a level.

i am assuning that the burmac is the huuuuuuuuuuge locust with 4 legs on each side if it is itll probably be a boss battle that you fight in the helicopter beacouse in the demo in e3 it show marcus and dom getting into the helicopter then the bruamc comes then the screen goes black i bet you have to kill it with the turret or somthing!!!

Fighting a certain type of locust (like the berserker) as a boss battle would pretty much ruin the chances of finding one later on in the game. For instance, if after the boss battle I found a berserker/s, I would come to the conclusion that the boss battle itself was a waste. It would kill the moment. Bosses need to be unique. A one-time deal

that could work, but there are more than one ex. Brumaks, if u saw the e3 trailer it showed like 5 brumaks attacking Sera, so u might run into more than one, i would still like to kill a "boss" again and again, b/c by the time u fight him the 2nd or 3rd time u will probably be a much better player, maybe have better weapons, maybe in a different environment, a vehicle......

i would like it but thats just my opinion:)

I see what you mean, but let me see if I can better convey my point. When you find a "boss" more than once in a game, the boss himself/herself becomes just one more brick in the wall, indistinguishable from the crowd. Let's use an analogy. It's like getting on a rollercoaster, the first time is a blast, by the second, third, fourth...... and so on, you become accustomed, loses its charm and lowers your expectations. Not even mentioning that the repetition makes your first time seem invaluable. Now, a hard enemy is a different animal.

thats why i was saying maybe the next time u fight the boss u get to use a new weapon in a strange environment or maybe use a vehicle, but i hope some "bosses" are a one time thing, and some come around more than once:)

I think the berserkers will NOT be bosses. Probably like the Hellknights from Doom. They are tough as heck, but you still come across them once or twice every level. The thing is you'll probably have the chance to get better guns before you face one. You'll probably find them in groups eventually.

I hope they are not just bosses. i know lots of game introduce them ass a boss or just at the end of a level and then from that point on they are included in the game as regular enimies. I just really hope they are just there. i would like to see them serve a purpose besides being big. maybe as mop up or just like break down a big structure so other enimies can infiltrate an area. stuff like that.

i know if they could have the AI work well as in they have the workings of the Locust horde as in they have specific jobs like the big ones are pretty much power houses they clear paths for the little ones (which are still pretty big) to swarm you. it would just be great. i just want to have that feeling of being overwhelmed by swarms of enemies.

I think that the first Berserker encounter should be more of an escape mission than a boss fight. Like one busts through a wall and you have to roadie run through this whole obstacle filled path to get away, and then later in the game you are in a situation where you have no choice but to fight, say you're blocked in an area or something, this way it's set up that you HAVE to fight this unbeatable enemy and the idea that you had to run earlier and now you have to fight makes it seem that much more desperate.

It'd also be cool if in the Berserker fight you had to move quietly and duck behind cover to get behind her for a better shot. And like in boss fights of old where halfway through there's a twist like it gets stronger or something you could have a second one enter the fight! So you work on taking down one ugly ass slag only to have a second join the fight.
