This problem has been bothering me ever since I got my 9800XT.
When I used to play UT2004 on my Radeon 8500LE, I had quality settings on 1024x768 resolution, 16-bit colour, max detailed characters and everything else unticked + set to lowest. I used to get some decent frames and some frame drops.
Now, with my 9800XT, which gets a score 6x larger on 3DMark03 than the 8500LE (6113 compared to 1010) gets the SAME frame in UT2004 than the 8500LE did. The 9800XT is set to the following:
1024x768 resolution @ 16-bit colour
Texture detail at max with "detailed textures" ticked
Dynamic lighting ticked
Character detail on full
Trilinear filtering ticked
Changing these settings from low to full doesn't effect the frame by much (about 2-3 frames avg, even when putting the resolution up).
This doesn't happen in any other games, only Unreal 2 and UT2004.
My system spec:
Athlon XP 2400+ (2GHZ, T-Bred core)
1.28GB PC2700 DDR Memory
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Tagan 480W PSU (newest revision)
Asus A7V600-X motherboard
Running Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Drivers are up-to-date, and all hardware running at stock levels (I do not overclock my hardware).
Any ideas? :(
EDIT: Added operating system.
