Ok, I read some of the fanfics posted up on this site, and they all seemed very good. So, in an attempt to cure my boredom, I tried my hand at writing my own. Please don't be to harsh, as this is my first (and probably last :D ) fanfic ever. It's not terribly long, so I'll post it in two parts. Well, here goes, I hope you enjoy.

PART 1

Michael was sitting around the camp, cleaning his rifle, the moonlight shimmering off its barrel. He could hear the voices of his squad from inside the tent. They had been assigned to defend a large stockpile of imulsion, near an abandoned drilling site. It was menial, boring work. No one even knew the mine existed. They were miles away from any major city, and their only company was the irritating screeches of crickets late at night. They had been positioned at the mine for a little over a month, and they had quickly grown impatient. All the action was in the cities, and they were stuck out in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do but clean their guns, and run through exercises. As Michael was sitting alone, Chris came out of the tent to see how he was doing. They had known each other for years. They had gone through school together, they joined the academy together and now they’re in the same squad together. The rest of the squad was made up of younger, less experienced men. They were assigned to this post under the pretenses of defending precious resources, but they were really there so they’d be out of the way. Chris sat down beside Michael.
“Seen anything exciting yet?” joked Chris.
“Yeah it’s a real adrenaline rush being down here,” replied Michael in a slow, sarcastic drawl.
Another guy came out from the tent. He was a young one, didn’t look a day over nineteen. Jacobs, Michael thought his name was. He sat down beside Chris.
“So anything been happening…” Jacobs started.
“Wait,” snapped Chris, “Did you hear that?”
“What?” replied Michael.
“It came from the mine.” Chris said hurriedly.
“I can’t hear ****,” Michael grunted.
“Would you guys shut the hell up!” roared Chris.
They sat in the dark, listening for a sound.
“Wait, I heard it,” proclaimed Jacobs.
“Hey what is that?”
There was a low grumbling coming the drilling site. There was a slow, stamping sound, as if someone were marching. Jacobs ran to the outskirts of their camp and looked out across a small field towards the mine.
“Holy ****, you’d better get those guys out of the tent.” Chris said under his breath.
“Alright everyone outside, bring your goddamn guns,” ordered Michael.
About ten men came stumbling out from the tent, scrambling to put on their armour and load their guns.
“Everyone take up positions around the perimeter, NOW!” barked Michael.
As the men scrambled, Chris called out to Jacobs, “What is it? What the hell is it?”
“I don’t know, but we might be in some deep ****,” gasped Jacobs.

The men froze as the saw what was coming towards them. There were about twenty hulking creatures, lumbering towards them. Their eyes glowed a deep, terrifying red. The moonlight reflected off their scaly, white skin. They lumbered forward, their heavy footsteps sinking in to the soft earth. The men around the camp looked stunned as these creatures came towards them. One soldier peeked out from behind the cover of some sandbags. One of the creatures saw the side of his head. It raised the sight of its strange, alien gun to its face. Before anyone could warn the soldier, a stream of bullets had ripped through the air, hitting him in the head with shocking ferocity. As the bloodied corpse fell to the ground, Michael raised his voice.
“OPEN FIRE,” he screamed, his voice echoing through the night air. His men sprung into action, they lifted their rifles and took aim. A barrage of bullets ripped through the creatures. They slowed for a moment, then continued running. They were closing the distance fast, and the soldiers didn’t want to deal with them up close. A few of the men stood to throw their grenades. A split second after they had thrown them, the hit the ground, ripped to pieces by a storm of fire. The grenades went off and flung one of the beasts into the air, and blew another apart. The creature hit the ground with a sickening crunch. There was only a little over a hundred metres before the monsters would reach the camp. Chris stood up, and blasted a series of rounds into the creatures. Two of them fell to the ground, the bullets finding their mark. One of the inexperienced soldiers jumped out from behind cover and attempted to throw a grenade at the oncoming attackers. Out of the corner of his eye, Michael noticed one of the creatures, holding a weapon that looked strangely like a crossbow. The creature pressed the trigger and the arrow shot into the arm of the young soldier who was preparing to throw his grenade. He let out a piercing shriek, his agony all too evident. The squad’s medic rushed to the wounded man. As he approached a shrill shriek started emanating from the arrow lodged in the man’s arm. Jacobs tried to warn the medic, he screamed “Get back, it’s too la…” but just as the medic reached him, the shrieking reached an excruciating crescendo, before the arrow erupted in a fireball, engulfing both the soldier and the medic. The creatures had drawn much closer, in a few seconds they’d be on top of them.

The creatures swarmed the camp. They ran in and didn’t stop. The first one grabbed one of the young soldiers, and snapped his arm. As the man lay screaming on the ground, the creature drew its foot up, and brought it down on the soldier’s head with a horrifying crunch. Michael quickly threw his rifle to the ground and drew his shotgun. He cocked it, and a deafening roar echoed around the camp as a blast of pellets shredded one of the beasts. He cocked it again, and another of the monsters fell onto the soft earth. A few men had the sense to follow Michael’s example and drew their shotguns, and began furiously emptying rounds into the beasts. This evened up the numbers a bit, but the creatures had already decimated much of the squad. Michael saw out of the corner of his eye, Jacobs, one of the creatures bearing down on him. The creature swatted Jacobs’ gun away and was snarling in his face. Just as it was about to crush Jacobs under its immense weight, Chris ran towards it, selflessly shoving Jacobs out of the way. Michael stood in horror, watching what happened next.

Well, it seems no one has read or enjoyed my fanfic :( , so I'll just post part 2 and pray for at least 1 reply :D

PART 2

The creature grabbed Chris from behind, and wrapped its powerful hand around his throat. It was strangling him. Chris’s face became increasingly red, and he could only draw in short, weak gasps of air. Michael was frozen, oblivious to what was going on around him. All he could see was Chris, in the deadly embrace of the hulking monstrosity. Chris’s hands were scrambling towards his waist, desperately trying to find a weapon. His hands found the hilt of his combat knife. He drew it from its sheath, and plunged it down into the creatures’ thigh. A howl of anguish erupted from the creature, but it refused to loosen its grip. Its glowing red eyes narrowed, and a smirk slid across its face. It tightened its grip. Its fingers pierced Chris’s throat. There was blood running down the front of his armour. His eyes shot open, white with terror. The creature kept closing its hand around his throat. The blood was running down the monsters’ wrist. With a final, horrifying tearing sound, the creature closed its fist around Chris’s throat, and ripped it out. Michael let out a blood-curdling scream as Chris’s body slumped to the floor, a gaping wound in his neck. Michael lifted the barrel of his shotgun and sprinted towards the creature. He could see his dear friends’ blood glistening in the creatures’ hand. He ignored the gunshots whizzing through the air as he ran for his friends’ murderer. The beast attempted to draw its weapon, but Michael quickly fired a round into its leg. It collapsed to the ground, its leg limp and useless. Michael fired another round at the monster, ripping off its arm. He approached the quivering mass lying motionless on the ground. They creatures were even more repulsive up close. Its skin was abrasive, its breath hot and nauseating. Michael stomped his foot down on the creatures chest, snapping its ribcage. As he raised his gun to the creatures’ head, he saw genuine terror in its eyes. It let out a final, thunderous growl, which was cut short by the mighty crack of Michaels’ gun.

As he turned away from the creatures’ bloodied corpse, Michael noticed only two of the creatures remained. He couldn’t see Jacobs anywhere, and the final two monsters were advancing towards the only other soldier left standing. The soldier raised his rifle and pulled the trigger, expecting to hear the sound of his clip emptying. All he heard was a small click. He stared in horror at his empty gun. He looked towards the creatures, his terror evident. He looked at all the mutilated bodies of his former squad, and a grim determination flashed on his face. Michael saw him slowly draw a grenade, careful not to let the creatures notice. He armed it, but didn’t throw it. He waited until the beasts were upon him. They lifted him into the air, snarling in his face. He shoved the grenade into their hideous faces and it detonated, illuminating the camp in a strange, orange glow. Michael shielded his face from the light, and when he opened his eyes all that remained was a large crater, stained with blood. He dropped his shotgun and wandered over to Chris’ motionless body. He had fallen on his front, but Michael couldn’t make himself turn the body over. He sat with his head in his hands, and wept for his fallen friend.

He was interrupted by the loud honking of a horn and a flash of lights. He looked up, and there was Jacobs, sitting in one of the old jeeps that were kept around the back of the camp, motioning for him to get inside. Michael gathered his weapons, took one final look at his friends’ corpse, and headed towards the jeep.

Well here's part 3, hopefully you'll like it. As a side note there's not heaps of action in this section, but that'll change once part 4 comes around :D

Enjoy

Michael sat in silence in the passenger seat of the old armoured jeep as they drove down an old dusty road, barren earth surrounding them. The bumps of the road were barely noticed. Both men were reliving what had happened, what those things did. The eerie silence was broken when Jacobs started “So, what the hell are we gonna’ do?”
“Well, I’m guessing we’ll have to get to the nearest city and tell them what happened,” said Michael.
“Well I was thinking about that,” replied Jacobs, “and don’t you think it’s a little strange that those things only attacked us? I mean, I doubt there’s only twenty of those things around, I’m guessing they might’ve attacked other places as well.”
“Are you talking about an invasion?” asked Michael worriedly.
“I don’t know, but I think we should try to contact the nearest outpost, there’s some radio **** in the back,” suggested Jacobs.
Michael leaned into the back of the jeep and threw off a sheet covering the back seat. There was a jumble of wires and transmitters, and a weapons locker. He hastily grabbed the transmitter and started searching frequencies. There was nothing but a high-pitched, crackling static. He continued to cycle through the frequencies, but there was no response. There was a distortion in the static for a moment. He slowly turned the knob back, listening intently for any transmissions. He could make out a few words.
“…Need assistance…soldiers wounded…attacked without warning…overwhelmed.”
Michael had almost found the right frequency.
“…They appeared…we didn’t have a chance they…we need medical assistance and reinforcements ASAP.”
Michael and Jacobs stared at each other, the transmission crackling in the background.
“Please, we need help, it won’t be long befo…” the transmission was cut short with a thunderous explosion from the outpost.
Michael and Jacobs sat in silence for a few moments, neither could think of what to say. Michael started, “We should keep going, we have to try and help out.”
“What the hell is going on, where’d these things come from?” gasped Jacobs. Michael couldn’t answer, so they drove in silence. This was interrupted by a steady rumbling coming from outside.
“What’s that?” asked Jacobs.
He was answered with a thunderous growl rising out from the ground. The earth started shaking. Deep fissures erupted from the ground. The growl of the jeeps V8 was drowned out by the noise outside. The fissures rushed past the car, appearing to stop further up the road. There was a deafening howl, accompanied by the enormous splitting sound of rocks below the ground. Jacobs slammed the brakes and the vehicle screeched to a halt. The fissures were deepening, the noise was becoming much clearer. Four gargantuan legs burst forth from the earth, followed by four more. These huge legs slammed into the ground and lifted the creature upwards. A hideous beast, three stories high stood before them. Its eyes glowed a malicious orange, the rest of its face hidden behind a mechanical mask. Its skin was a black, hard shell. It had a dozen of the creatures that were at the camp standing on its back. The beast reared back its hideous head, and screamed a blood-chilling battle cry, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth. The moonlight cast an eerie glow over its skin, its enormous pincer-like legs pulsating slowly. Jacobs was frozen, completely unaware of what to do.
“DRIVE!” roared Michael.
Jacobs snapped back into consciousness and buried the pedal into the steel floor of the armoured jeep, speeding off the road and onto the barren plains around them. The beast gave another terrifying howl and gave chase.

PART 4

The jeep sped across the barren wasteland. Small rocks bounced harmlessly off its heavily armoured body. The enormous creature behind them was covering too much ground too quickly. Michael looked out the window and saw the beast, striving forwards; the creatures on its back were raising their weapons. He shot back inside the car as a storm of bullets ricocheted off of the jeeps armoured door panel.
“Try to get this thing back on the road,” roared Michael.
“That might be a little tricky at the moment,” yelled Jacobs.
“Well then just don't get us killed,” replied Michael.
The creature was getting much closer, it’d be on top of them soon. Michael climbed over into the back seat and opened up the weapons locker. He found something that could help them out.
“Nice,” he grunted as he pulled the rocket launcher out of its fastenings. There were six rockets inside the locker. He peered out the window again, trying to figure out what to do. Again, a barrage of shots was fired at the side of the jeep. Michael lent against the side of the door, formulating a plan.
“We have to get those little bastards off or I’ll never be able to take down the big one,” screamed Michael over the creatures’ growlings.
“What’d you want me to do about it?” yelled Jacobs.
“Cut in front of it and go back the other way,” Michael yelled back.
“WHAT? Why the hell would I want to do that, are you insane?” screamed Jacobs.
“ If you cut in front I’ll have a chance to shoot them from behind,” said Michael.
“Whatever you say…” replied Jacobs.
Jacobs cranked the wheel to the right, the wheels kicking up dust that lingered in the air. He sped directly in front of the beast. It stopped, reared back and tried to slam the jeep with one of its legs. It came down with a thunderous crash. Jacobs quickly manouvered the car around the leg that was jutting out of the earth. The creatures’ leg had become stuck. As it was attempting to pull itself free, the jeep sped in the opposite direction. Michael leant out the side of the window resting the rockets heavy barrel against his shoulder.
“STOP!” he roared at Jacobs.
The jeep came to a screeching halt. Michael raised the rockets' sight to his face. He aimed it carefully at five of the creatures that were standing precariously close to the creatures’ leg. He held his breath, the sight settled directly over his target. He pulled the trigger. The rocket fired. A tail of thick, grey smoke trailed from the bottom of the rocket. It shot through the air. One of the creatures that was clinging to the beasts leg heard the approaching missile. It turned around just in time to see the rocket smash directly into the base of the large creatures’ leg. There was a blinding explosion. The five smaller creatures were all either flung into the air or obliterated by the blast. The large creatures’ leg was almost blown completely off. It was attached only by a few sinewy threads. Thick, red blood was oozing out of the beasts stump. It reached with one of its other legs and ripped off the remains of its damaged limb. The creature turned toward the jeep with startling speed. It had freed its trapped leg. It let out a horrendous, earsplitting shriek. The remaining seven creatures that were on its back had once again drawn their weapons. There was a powerful rage emanating from the gargantuan beast. It began towards the jeep again.
“Jesus, step on it!” roared Michael.

PART 5

The jeeps engine roared back into life, and they began speeding across the wasteland again. The creature was moving much faster now. It was now motivated; its seemingly simple mind was filled only with a desire to kill those that had caused it pain. It was much closer than it had been before.
“What the hell do we do now?” yelled Jacobs.
Michael couldn’t answer, because he didn’t know. The creature was now parallel with the jeep. It started moving across, getting closer and closer to the jeep. Two of the smaller creatures were readying their weapons. Michael peered out of the window. He saw them, but they appeared to change their minds, they holstered their weapons. Michael was wondering what they were doing when the first one leapt into the air. It sailed through the night breeze, and landed with a huge crash on the roof of the jeep. Michael leapt for the door as the other one landed on the roof. He quickly raised the windows. He could hear their claws scraping the metal roof, trying to get a hold. Michael reached for his shotgun, checking the ammo. He cocked it and waited. One of the monsters poked its head down and peered into the window. A disgusting, triumphant smirk crossed its face. Michael raised his shotgun. Just as he was about to take his shot, Jacobs started swerving, trying to shake the creatures off. Michael was flung back against the seat. The monster that was peering through the window was taken by surprise, and fell of the roof. At such high speeds, it was killed instantly; the resounding snap of its spine was audible above the roar of the engine. The other creature was till hanging on.
“No more swerving, ok?” asked Michael.
“Fine,” replied Jacobs swiftly.
Michael smashed the window open with the butt of his shotgun. He leant out the side of the window and peered at the roof. The creature was desperately hanging on, spread eagle across the roof. Michael brought the butt of his gun down on the creatures’ arm with a sickening crunch. It lost its grip and was only hanging on with one of its hands, the other limp and useless. Michael shoved the barrel into the monsters face. It screamed in rage. Its final battle cry was cut short by the resonant blast of the shotgun. Its body slipped off the roof and hit the ground with a deep thud. Michael quickly slipped back into the jeep. The enormous beast had gotten closer, Michael could see its chest heaving up and down, rippling with thick veins. There were only five of the smaller creatures remaining. Jacobs yelled, “Up ahead, were almost back on the road.”
“****, turn around,” exclaimed Michael angrily.
“Fine, but this better work,” said Jacobs under his breath.
The jeep once again performed a screeching turn, rushing back down its original path.
Just as Michael had thought, the creature had picked up too much momentum, it couldn’t stop quickly enough.
“STOP NOW!” yelled Michael.
The jeep stopped suddenly, the dust kicked up momentarily blinding Michael. Once it had cleared he saw just what he hoped to see, the huge creature with its back to the jeep. He raised his rocket launcher again, steadying his aim. The sight was aimed directly at the creatures back. The smaller creatures had realized what Michael was doing, and they opened fire on the jeep. Michael ignored the bullets bouncing off the armoured panels, lining up the perfect shot. One of the shots whizzed straight past the side of his head as he pulled the trigger. A rocket shot forth, racing towards the beast. Michael lined up another shot almost instantaneously, and fired a second rocket at the huge monster. The first shot hit the creature directly in the back. The force of the explosion caused the creature to fly forwards, flinging its passengers off its shoulders. Each one hit the ground and remained motionless. As the creature was getting up, the second rocket slammed into its chest, ripping a huge, gaping wound open near its ribs. It collapsed on the ground, blood seeping from its numerous wounds. It let out a wheezing, gurgling cry. Its lungs were rapidly filling with blood after being pierced by one of its ribs. It was quivering and shaking for several minutes. Then with a final, gurgling moan, it was still. Michael placed the rocket launcher back in its locker, and sat in the passenger seat.
“Whoa, what are these things?” said Jacobs softly, staring at the silhouette of the beast, illuminated by the moonlight.
“I don’t know,” answered Michael, “but I have a feeling we’re not finished with ‘em yet,” He paused for a moment, his eyes locked on the fallen beast, “Well, we still have to get back to the city, step on it.”
“Yes sir,” replied Jacobs smugly.
The taillights of the jeep disappeared into the darkness as it sped towards the road.

Well I've written the next storyline, its kind of a bridge between the first arc and the second arc, so its a little rougher around the edges. Its in about 3 parts. I'll post it over the next few hours.

PART 6

The deep hum of the jeeps’ V8 was the only sound breaking the silence of the desolate road. The night had turned to early morning, the first glimpses of a rising sun portraying delusions of safety. Michael sat in the passenger seat, cradling his shotgun in his muscular arms. The first rays of sunlight lit up the wild plain surrounding the road. In the distance, Michael saw the outline of a cityscape, Terran. There were towering skyscrapers surrounded by enormous factories and warehouses. Jacobs shifted up a gear, and the jeep powered towards this industrialised vista.

As they got closer to the city, more details started appearing. There was smoke billowing from the roofs of buildings, fires raged atop warehouses. “Jesus, I guess these things weren’t messing around,” muttered Jacobs. Just as Michael was about to speak, the previously discarded radio in the back seat crackled into life.
“All military personnel must report to the arms warehouse in the industrial district of Terran for re-assignment,” an emotionless, robotic voice proclaimed.
“Well, looks like we know where to go now,” said Michael.
The jeeps continuous journey down the old road was nearing its end.

The jeep puttered to a stop alongside the sidewalk of the business district. The doors swung open, Michael and Jacobs stepped out, gathered their weapons and slammed the doors shut.
“I can’t believe that piece of **** ran out of imulsion,” grunted Jacobs angrily, “It had a full tank.”
“Well, it’s only a few blocks to the industrial district from here,” replied Michael in a gruff tone.
Michael had both his shotgun and a lancer rifle he’d found in the back of the jeep, Jacobs had only his lancer. They were both very low on ammunition. They looked down the street. The heavy smoke flowing from the rooftops blocked the sun out. There were craters and fissures running down the road. There was blood staining the sidewalk. Just ahead of them lay the corpse of one of the creatures. They walked towards it. This one was different, it was more muscular, and its skin was a hard, red shell. Its rough skin had grown cold, it’s eyes glazed over. Its mouth was open, revealing razor sharp teeth. Its huge body was stiff. Next to it laid a strange, long barreled gun. It appeared to be a grenade launcher of some description. Jacobs picked it up, examined it, and holstered it.
“This might just come in handy,” he said with a sly smirk. He checked its ammo; it was full of what looked like tiny rockets. They walked to the end of the street and turned around the corner. They stood in silent horror, aghast at what stood before them.

Before them stood a beast, two stories high. They could only see it from behind. Its body had a strangely simian shape to it. There was an enormous cannon strapped to its back by a series of thick chains. It was slowly lumbering down the wide road, accompanied by a squad of four smaller creatures. The beast came upon an upturned bus. It lifted it with a small grunt, its chains rattling against the underside of the vehicle. It let out a deafening howl and tossed the bus aside. It hit the road with a screeching crunch. Michael noticed two more cannons on each of its arms. Its enormous steps shook the earth. The numerous burnt out vehicle littering the street were swatted away with ease. The beast was heading towards the industrial district. Grim realisation dawned on them both. The creatures were attempting to destroy the cities military headquarters. Michael signaled Jacobs to move closer. They both set off on a low and silent run, diving into cover behind a burnt out minivan. Michael peered out from behind his position. They had to kill the smaller creatures without alerting the larger one. Michael again silently signaled for Jacobs to move, this time drawing his combat knife. Jacobs did the same. The weight of the knife’s hilt felt secure in Michael’s hand. Its eight-inch blade was glistening. They made it behind the cover of a car again. Jacobs peered over the vehicles roof. He nodded to Michael. They came out from cover again, this time slowly. They silently approached the two creatures at the rear of the group. They held their knives at the ready, and struck.

PART 7

The creatures were taken by surprise. The knives slid into their fleshy, unprotected throats with surprising fluidity. The two soldiers lowered the gasping creatures to the ground softly, trying not to alert the others. They moved towards the two remaining beasts. Michael struck perfectly, severing the beasts’ jugular. As he was lowering it to the ground, it let out an unexpected, gurgling moan. The other creature heard this final cry and turned around just as Jacobs was about to attack. Instead of a smooth stab, the knife slid across the creatures’ throat. It howled in agony as blood spilled down its chest plate. The enormous creature in front of them stood still, straightening up. It turned its head towards Michael and Jacobs. Its numerous eyes were the same horrific orange as the beast they slew in the desert. The smaller creature was staggering around, blood spluttering from its neck. The huge beast turned its body to face the soldiers. In one, swift action it swiped its hand at the staggering creature, flinging it into a nearby building. The creatures’ body smashed through a window, landing on the third floor of an office complex. The snarling beast standing before them reared back, extending itself to its full height. It let out a resonant, earth-shacking cry. Michael and Jacobs were slowly backing away. They both sheathed their knives and began drawing their lancers. The beast let out a second howl and lunged for the two. They both dived out of the way and began sprinting across the street, heading towards the office complex. The beast raised its rippling arm. As they were weaving through the destroyed shells of cars, the beast fired a volley of rockets from the cannon attached to its arm. The rockets slammed into the crumbling asphalt, lifting a thick layer of dust into the air. Michael and Jacobs could just make out the entrance to the office complex through the cloud of dust. The beast unleashed another deafening roar as it searched throughout the dusty street for its prey. Michael and Jacobs reached the entrance, the cloud of dust quickly settling. They both rushed inside. Their heavy armour scraped against the narrow corridors of the offices. They ran for the stairwell at the other side of the building, and made their way for the second floor. The beast outside fired another volley of rockets, this time at the building itself. The rockets smashed into the side of the building, blowing a huge hole in the second and third floors. Shattered glass littered the offices’ soft, blue carpet. The beast stared into the building, searching for the soldiers. Michael slowly opened the stairwell door, watching for the creature. He saw it further down the street. It was pacing alongside the building, searching for them. They ran out from the stairwell and took cover underneath the windows; the creature wouldn’t be able to see them.
“What are we gonna do now?” whispered Jacobs.
“We have to stop it firing those rockets somehow,” replied Michael quietly, “Ok, I think I know what to do, you’ll need that gun you found.”
“Alright,” whispered Jacobs, removing the strange gun from its holster.
As Michael was explaining the plan, the beast turned around and doubled back.
“Ok its coming, you ready?” asked Michael.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” replied Jacobs.
Michael lifted his lancer and started firing.

Ok, this is the end of the second story arc. After this I'll write the third (and probably final) story of Michael and Jacobs. Enjoy :)

PART 8

He jumped to his feet, screaming and firing his rifle at the creature. The bullets tore through the already shattered windows, hitting the creature. The huge beast let out a terrifying battle cry and lunged towards Michael, small spurts of blood erupting from its chest. He sprinted across the second level, making his way for the enormous, vacant hole in the floor. The beast slammed its gargantuan fist into the side of the building, narrowly missing Michael. The beast drew its fist back and struck the building again. As the wall was ripped apart, the side of the creatures fist hit Michael’s leg. He stumbled and fell onto the carpet, now covered in shattered class and broken concrete. The beast roared triumphantly as it tore an even larger hole in the side of the building. Michael sat still, frozen, staring into the creatures glowing, orange eyes. The beast began raising its hand to Michael.
“NOW!” roared Michael.
At the other end of the building, Jacobs lent out the side of the window, the alien guns’ sight against his face. He lined the sight up against the cannon on the creatures arm. The beast turned, startled by Michael’s yelling. Its eyes met Jacobs’. It raised its hand towards Jacobs, but it wasn’t fast enough. Jacobs fired, the strange rocket burst forth from the barrel. It sped towards the creatures’ arm. The shot was perfect. The small rocket hit the creature’s cannon just as it was beginning to launch a rocket of its own. The large beasts cannon misfired. The blast from the two explosions was blinding, Michael and Jacobs shielded their eyes from the glowing fireball. The concussive blast of the explosion shattered each of the office complex’s windows. Michael opened his eyes and saw the beast, howling in anguish, its arm ripped apart by the blast. Blood was rushing out of the mutilated remnant of its limb. It staggered through the street, smashing into buildings, crushing cars. Jacobs lined up another shot. He pulled the trigger and was greeted by the sweet whistle of the rocket tearing through the air. This shot slammed into the beasts head. The first explosion snapped the creature’s head back. Michael watched from the ruined office building as the initial shot exploded into numerous, tiny, grenade like balls. These tiny spheres rained down upon the beast. On contact, each of them exploded, tiny fireballs erupting all over the creature. Its howls of agony grew louder. Its skin was charred and burnt. The right side of its metallic mask had been crushed into its face, piercing its eyes. Thick, crimson blood was seeping down the side of its face, heavy droplets staining the sidewalk. The beast cried out again, a piercing screech of torment. It collapsed onto the road, its heavily disfigured body heaving up and down with each laboured breath. Michael dropped through the hole in the floor, landing on the ruined street with a dull thud. He walked towards the groaning beast. The nauseating smell of burnt flesh filled his nose. For a moment he thought he was going to be sick. Jacobs slipped down onto the street, his hands still clutching the weapon that felled the mighty beast. They stared at the creature for a moment, its low cries grew softer. They turned their backs to the horrible, moaning creature, and began walking towards the industrial district. They could hear the beasts’ low cries echoing down the street. As they reached the end of the road, they turned back. The beast was still. Its face was twisted into an expression of eternal torment. Its cries had stopped. They turned around, and started their march towards temporary salvation.

PART 9

Michael and Jacobs trudged along the deserted streets, the morning light bouncing off their heavy armour. Screams echoed from around the city. These painful laments were intermittently cut off by a blast of gunfire. They heard the thunderous cries of the creatures, and the deafening explosions of their weapons. They rounded the final corner and saw before them an enormous warehouse. The car park was swarming with soldiers. There was a recording playing through the loudspeakers above the warehouses entrance.
“All military personnel report inside for squad re-assignment and equipment replacement,” a robotic voice boomed over the murmurs of the crowd. Michael and Jacobs let out a sigh of relief and headed towards the entrance.

“You’re both in Theta squad, with those two over there,” said the officer at the re-assignment booth, pointing at two soldiers standing up against a wall.
“Ah, I found this on my way here,” said Jacobs, handing over the strange weapon that belonged to one of the creatures.
“Where’d you get this?” the officer gasped.
“Found it on the street,” replied Jacobs swiftly.
“I’ll have to give this to General Adams, he’ll probably want to speak with you two,” the officer continued, “go meet your squad, the general will be out soon.”
Michael and Jacobs turned and started towards the two soldiers leaning against the wall.

One of the soldiers was muttering something under his breath as Michael and Jacobs approached them. The one on the right was wearing a bandana around his head. His eyes seemed distant and uninterested. There was heavy bandaging around his bulging left bicep. The chest pate of his armour was very deeply scratched, and there was dried blood staining the grooves. There was a cigarette drooping from his mouth, a thin puff of smoke rising upwards. The soldier next to him was also adorned in bandages, one covering the top of his head. He had rough stubble covering his face, and he also had a cigarette hanging from his lips. They stood before each other in silence for a moment, and then uttered a simple grunt of greeting as they shook hands.
“I’m Jon, this is Private Andrews,” said the soldier with the bandana.
"I'm Michael and this is Private Jacobs," relplied Micahel with a firm handshake.
“So, what happened here?” asked Michael.
“They just burst out of the ground, those huge spider-like ones,” started Jon, “then all these smaller ones followed them out. They started attacking immediately, we didn’t have a chance. They just decimated the city, killed thousands of civilians, and all the reports say they’ve done the same in every other major city across all of Sera.”
“Jesus Christ,” muttered Jacobs under his breath.
“We tried to fight back, and we were doing alright for a while, we were actually killing a few of them. Then night fell. They went crazy; nothing would stop them. They just tore through our defences,” Jon continued somberly.
Andrews just sat, slumped against the wall, his eyes consumed in thought. Jacobs leant over and spoke into Jon’s ear.
“What’s wrong with him?” he asked cautiously.
“Oh, he was off duty when they attacked. He was shopping with his wife and kid. Those…things killed them both,” answered Jon in a low tone, “hasn’t said much since, I’ve just decided it’d be best to leave him be for the time being.”
As the soldiers continued to get acquainted, General Adams approached them from behind.
“Sergeant Thomas, Private Jacobs, pleases accompany me to my office, there is much to discuss,” he stated in a formal, business-like tone. He turned around and began walking towards the back of the warehouse. They followed him into his hastily improvised headquarters, what was obviously a simple administration office. He walked in and sat down at his desk, gesturing for them to do the same.
“Now, we’ll talk about what we’ll be doing later, but first I think you should explain to me exactly how you got here,” the General said.
Michael took a sharp breath and began telling his story.

PART 10

Once Michael had finished, the General sat in silence for a few moments. He looked up at them, his gaze filled with awe.
“Well, you boys seem to be more than capable of handling these creatures, so from now your squad will be taking over assault duties,” General Adams started, “We have an urgent mission we need you to undertake. These creatures...“Locusts”, the soldiers are calling them, have captured an important imulsion plant on the other side of town. Without these reserves, we will very quickly be at a serious disadvantage, so we need them recaptured. You’re squad, along with about 7 others, will need to take this plant back from the Locust. We’ll be outfitting you with new equipment, as well as some prototypes we found here in the warehouse. Go and inform your squad, you’ll be leaving at 0700. Dismissed.” The General motioned for the door, and Michael and Jacobs stood up from their seats, and headed back out into the warehouse. In seven hours they would again be battling these creatures.

Michael sat across from Andrews, his eyes still distant and weary. They had been put into the “Armadillo” prototype armoured transport vehicles. Its metallic shell reflected the beaming moonlight across the cracked road. There were seven other Armadillo’s, each one housing a squad. There was a grim silence in Theta squad’s vehicle. Jacobs was sitting in silence, his hands clasped together. Jon was re-wrapping his bandages, and Andrews sat in silence, another cigarette hanging from his lips. Michael removed his new, prototype Lancer, and started admiring its gleaming barrel. He ran his fingers over the shining blades hanging from the chainsaw bayonet. The blue lights on his armour glistened off each individual blade. He held the rifle to the light, imagining the growling of the chainsaw and the shrieks of the Locust. He holstered it with a sly grin. He then removed his shotgun, quickly going over it and checking its ammo. He put it away and stared out one of the thin windows on the side of the vehicle. The streets were completely deserted; a few stray lamp posts still emitted a soft, weak glow. There were streaks of dried blood covering the asphalt. Burnt out cars were the streets only occupants, the black shells twisted and crushed. A voice started booming out of the speakers in the corner of the Armadillo.
“ETA two minutes, prepare yourselves for deployment,” came the voice of General Adams.
“Ok men, you heard him, get ready,” Michael boomed at his men. They all snapped into action, making final checks of their weapons and ammo. The Armadillo came to a halt outside the imulsion plant, hidden behind the rubble of a fallen building. The door slid open, a small walkway extended to the street. Michael hurried onto the road, followed by Adams, Jon and Jacobs. The other Armadillo’s had come to a stop, and the other squads all made their way out of the armoured vehicles. The imulsion plant stood before them, five stories high. There was no light on the inside. An eerie silence settled over the soldier.
“All right men, stay low, and let's teach these b******s a lesson*,” whispered Michael to the soldiers. He turned and ran for the door of the plant, the footsteps of thirty soldiers echoing behind him. He reached the small metal door, and burst inside.

PART 11

The door swung back and hit the wall with a resonating crash. Michael rushed through the dimly lit entrance, into a huge, cavernous foyer. He took cover behind a pillar and waited for the men to get inside. The soldiers rushed past, quickly taking up positions around the large room. Almost all the soldiers had made their way through the door. Michael surveyed the room. There were two large, parallel, curving staircases running up to the second floor. At the top of the stairs was a walkway running the width of the room, several glass panels acting as transparent barriers. A circular receptionists desk sat in the middle of the room, and there were several pillars near the entrance. Michael saw two snipers take up position at the two back corners, their rifles aimed towards the top of the stairs. Jacobs was behind the pillar across from Michael, he couldn't see the other members of Theta squad. Michael was about to order the squads to move, when he heard a noise. There was a scratching coming from the left wall. It grew louder. Several men were sent to the wall to investigate. As they ran their hands against the wall, an ear-splitting shriek filled the air. The glass running along the walkway was shattered. As the shards of broken glass fell to the ground, several soldiers dropped to their knees, desperately clutching the sides of their head. Michael fell to the ground, his head felt as if it were about to burst. He looked across to the pillar opposite his, Jacobs was curled in a ball, his face twisted in agony. Michael scanned the room, trying to find the source of this piercing cry. At the top of the left staircase stood a small group of tiny creatures, on all fours, howling into the air. Michael raised himself up on one knee, and drew his lancer. With one hand glued to his ear, Michael raised the gun at the creatures. His arm was shaking, the pain was excruciating. He let off a burst of shots, inaudible through the cries of the creatures. The volley of shots slammed into one of the creatures, its white, scaly body falling limp as it tumbled down the staircase. Several other soldiers had raised the weapons, and they all fired at the remaining few creatures. The bullets ripped through the creatures’ bodies, the deafening cries being cut off by the echoing blast of the lancers. The other men slowly raised themselves up from the ground. The soldiers that had been investigating the wall were now leaning against it, trying to compose themselves. Most of the soldiers had now drawn their weapons, awaiting their squads’ orders. Michael began reloading his rifle when he heard a noise again. The scratching from behind the wall had started again. It stopped. There was a tense silence, which was broken by a thunderous growl from the other side of the wall. The soldiers who were leaning against the wall stared at each other, their relief quickly replaced with terror. There was a booming crash as the wall was ripped apart. Soldiers were flung across the room, their limp bodies sliding across the tile floor. Where the wall had stood only seconds earlier was a billowing cloud of dust, the particles of drywall hanging in the air. A creature stepped through the gaping hole in the wall. It was enormous, at least nine feet high. It’s body was covered in heavy armour plating, it flesh almost completely impenetrable. There were sharp, thick hairs growing out of its neck. It stood before the soldiers, its eyes glaring a terrifying red from beneath its shielded face. Its frame was huge and muscular, its arms rippling with tension. Michael saw what it had used to break down the wall; its hand. Below the creatures wrist, covered in dust, was a huge, spherical fist. It looked like a wrecking ball. Another of these Locusts stepped out through the wall. The two of them stood together, and let out a grumbling battle cry. Michael took cover behind a pillar, smashing his shoulder into the marble, and roared to the soldiers, “OPEN FIRE.”

Well heres part 12, the chainsaw finally gets a little action :D

PART 12

The first beast swung its massive fist through one of the pillars, behind which several soldiers were taking cover. They were instantly flung across the room, smashing into the wall with a sickening crunch. A huge chunk of marble was propelled across the room, crashing into a soldier. The other men had all begun shooting at the creatures. The bullets harmlessly bounced of their plated skin, nothing more than a nuisance. The second beast smashed its fist through another pillar, killing the soldier on the other side. Michael ducked out from behind cover and let off a burst of shots at the first creature. It shrugged them off and continued on its rampage. The two beasts had decimated at least three squads in a matter of seconds. Michael put away his lancer, and drew his shotgun. He quickly peered from behind the pillar again; the beasts were very quickly progressing across the foyer. He noticed Andrews, hurriedly whispering to two other men, behind the receptionists’ desk. The first beast was advancing towards them. Andrews glanced at Michael, and readied his lancer. The men around him had all drawn their shotguns. The beast was only a few metres from their position. It began raising its fist above its head when Andrews leapt out from behind the desk. He rolled up onto one knee, and began shooting at the locust's chest. The beast turned to Andrews, and to Michael’s horror, started to bring its fist down upon him. Andrews, with startling agility, rolled out of the way. As the beasts fist smashed into the tiles, Andrews began revving his chainsaw. The beast turned its head towards the low growling of the bayonet. It attempted to lift its fist again, but Andrews was far too quick. He brought down the rumbling chainsaw on the creatures wrist. The bayonet quickly grabbed a hold of the creatures arm, the blades slicing through its plated skin and ripping through the soft flesh underneath. The beast howled in agony, thick streams of blood gushing into the air. With a final, heaving shove, Andrews completely severed the Locust’s hand. the beasts howling grew louder as it raised its deformed arm to its face.
“NOW,” roared Andrews.
The two soldiers who were behind the desk with him earlier jumped out from their cover, cocking their shotguns. They raised the wide barrels of their guns to the beast. They both fired, a resounding crack echoing throughout the foyer. The shells slammed into the locust, causing it to stumble backwards. They cocked their shotguns again, and discharged another pair of rounds into the beasts chest. Michael stepped out from behind the pillar and raised his own shotgun, firing a shell into the creature’s left leg. It's knee was shattered. It collapsed to the ground, its leg at a severe angle, blood seeping from the wound. Andrews drew his shotgun, his expression steely and distant. He was walking towards the beast, savouring the moment. He fired another shot, this time into the locust’s previously uninjured arm. He stood above the beast, staring at its hideous face. It stared back at him, its glowing red eyes locked onto his. His mouth twisted into a sadistic smirk as he raised his foot above the creatures head. The boot lingered in the air for a moment, before Andrews drove it down with a primal grunt. A reverberating crunch filled the air as the top half of the locust’s head was flattened. Andrews stepped back and began wiping his foot against the tiles, attempting to cleanse it of the blood and skull fragments staining the sole of his boot. Michael scanned the room, searching for the second locust. He found it lying against the cold tiles, its throat torn apart by the bullet of a sniper. He surveyed the damage; at least ten men had been killed by these things in a matter of minutes.
“Alright boys,” boomed Michael, “Looks like they know we’re here. Let’s move out.” He holstered his shotgun and removed his lancer. The weight of the chainsaw was comforting as he walked towards the staircase.

PART 13

Michael eased open the metal door at the top of the stairs. He peered through the opening. The entire floor was covered in office cubicles. There was no sign of the locust. He turned to face the remaining squads.
“Ok men,” he started, “We need to move across this floor towards the back of the plant. From there we’ll have to get to the central storage area and recapture it. Without this imulsion, Terran is doomed. Move out.”
Michael moved into the room, pressing his back against the side of a cubicle. Each squad leader took up position at a different cubicle. Michael signalled Jon, telling him to move up the corridor. Jon stepped out from behind the wall, his lancer glued to his face. He crept into one of the cubicles, and motioned for the rest of Theta squad to move forward. Michael stepped out, followed by Jacobs, then Andrews. Each time Andrews took a step, there was a soft, wet sound, the blood on the underside of his boot not yet dry. Michael was listening intently to the footsteps of the other squads. Jon moved ahead of the group, scouting the room. He peered over the top of one of the cubicles. He ducked down suddenly and gestured for the squad to stop.
“Jesus,” Jon whispered breathlessly, “They're at the other end of the room, the locust.”
“How many?” gasped Michael.
“Ten, give or take,” replied an apprehensive Jon.
“S***, can we take them out before they reach the other squads?” asked Jacobs.
His question was answered by the body of a soldier being flung through the cubicle wall behind him. The soldier rolled to a stop, a bloody hole ripped into the middle of his chest plate. Jacobs stared in horror as one of the locust foot soldiers stepped through the empty space where a wall had stood moments earlier. It stared down at him, its glowing eyes piercing through the darkness of the dimly lit corridor. It let out a low snarl as it lunged for Jacobs. It landed on top of him, the lancer the only thing separating man from beast. The rest of the squad could do nothing; if they fired their weapons they would almost certainly hit Jacobs. Jacobs stared into the beasts face, its eyes confident and ruthless. He was trying to use the chainsaw, but he couldn’t get his hand to the trigger. Gunfire rang through the air as the remaining squads fought against the other locusts. The beast atop Jacobs let of a howling screech, its hot, nauseating breath blowing all over his face. The beast was pushing the gun towards Jacobs’ throat, trying to choke him. The veins in Jacobs arms were raised, pulsating, his teeth clenched as he tried to get the beast off him. His hand had almost reached the trigger. He thrust his knee into the creature’s stomach. It was caught off guard; it loosened its grip for a split second. This was all Jacobs needed. He twisted the bayonet so it was protruding into the locusts’ gut. He pulled the trigger. The chainsaw roared into life, its low rumbling’s reverberating through Jacobs arm. It tore into the beast’s stomach. The creature howled in agony as its blood sprayed across Jacobs’ face. Its cries grew louder as the blades of the chainsaw dug deeper into its gut, the barrel of the rifle jabbing into its stomach.
“Just finish it,” growled Jon.
Jacobs moved his hand to primary trigger. He stared at the beast’s glowing eyes one last time, then fired a burst of bullets, each one ripping through the creature’s torso. It’s cries fell silent. Jacobs heaved the locust off him, its limp body hitting the floor with a dull thud. He lifted himself off the ground, splatters of blood staining his armour.
“Check for any others,” commanded Michael. Andrews slowly stuck his head through the hole in the wall.
“Nothing on this side,” he exclaimed.
“Ok, wait here,” replied Michael. He drew his shotgun and crept towards the end of the corridor, searching for any other locusts. He heard the cries of one of the remaining soldiers; “There’s one left,” the soldier called to his squad mates. Michael continued to the end of the corridor. He reached the end of the passage and peered around the corner. Before him was another locust, pressed against the wall. It was facing the other way. Michael leant back against the wall and cocked his shotgun. He stepped out from behind the wall, the gun held at his waist. The creature hadn’t noticed him. He grinned to himself as he laid pressure onto the trigger. It fired a shell with a resonant crack. The pellets ripped through the locust's back. A small cloud of blood filled the air as the beast fell to the floor. One of the pellets hit its elbow, blowing off its forearm. The severed limb landed a few feet in front of the beast with a muffled thump. Michael stood over the locust’s corpse and motioned for the rest of his squad to join him. The other squads all came out of their respective corridors and walked towards Michael.
“How many did we lose?” asked Michael.
“About six sir,” replied a soldier holding a sniper.
“Damn,” Michael muttered under his breath, “The door at the end of this corridor leads to the central imulsion storage area of this plant. We’re guaranteed that they will be a strong defensive force there. We have to capture this plant at any cost men. Let’s teach these b******* a lesson!” he exclaimed.
He holstered his shotgun and made his way to the end of the corridor, sixteen men following in his wake.

PART 14

Michael opened the door at the end of the corridor, staring out at the cavernous room before him. The door had opened onto a steel walkway, high above the ground, with a spiralling staircase leading to the bottom floor. There were several enormous containers, at least ten metres high, housing the imulsion. The ground was crawling with locusts. They had taken up positions around the huge, heavily reinforced canisters. They were all focusing their weapons on the rooms’ main entrance, oblivious to the soldiers above them. Michael eased back into the corridor, facing the soldiers.
“They don’t know we’re here yet,” started Michael, “Snipers, take up position on the walkway, everyone else ready your grenades. On my signal, everyone throw them into the most heavily populated areas, we need to take out as many as we can as quickly as we can. The snipers will them pick off the remaining locusts as we make our way down the staircase to the right. Once we reach the ground, we have to take rest out. Alright?”
“Yes sir,” replied the soldiers in unison.
“Ok, snipers get ready,” said Michael. Two soldiers with enormous rifles strapped to their back stepped onto the walkway and removed their guns. The rest of the men followed suite and made their way onto the walkway. The locusts below them still hadn’t noticed them.
“All right everyone, prep your bolo’s,” whispered Michael.
Each of the soldiers drew one of their grenades, gripping the handle tightly. They each started swinging the grenade around, trying to gain momentum. One of the soldiers was standing too close to the railing of the walkway. He started to swing his bolo. The tip of the grenade was centimetres from the railing. Michael noticed this a second to late. The soldier was swinging too wildly and the bottom of the grenade collided into the railing. There was a metallic clang that rang through the air. The soldiers stared in horror as the locust raised they heads towards the noise. One of the locusts, clad in hulking, red body armour, pointed at the walkway and barked a command in a strange, alien tongue.
“NOW!” screamed Michael, throwing his grenade at the ground. The other soldiers hurled their bolos into the air. As they sailed towards the locusts, the snipers began firing. The echo of the shots reverberated through the huge room as two of the locust fell to the floor, the snipers bullets ripping a hole in their skulls. The creatures dived out of the way as the grenades rained down upon them. The first one went off, flinging several of the beasts into the air. Thick plumes of smoke filled the air as the other grenades exploded. Most of the creature’s had escaped before the bolos went off, taking refuge behind the imulsion container to the left. As the smoke cleared, Michael saw the locust clad in red armour draw its weapon. It was the same one Jacobs had used to fell the enormous beast only hours earlier. The creature raised the gun towards the walkway.
“DOWN THE STAIRS, NOW,” roared Michael. The men began running towards the spiralling staircase as the locust soldiers opened fire, bullets whizzing through the air. Michael stood at the top of the stairs, ushering his men down the steps. After the last one ran by him, he shouted to the snipers, ordering them to leave their positions. They began to stand just as the armour-clad locust fired its weapon. Michael leapt down the stairs as the strange rocket slammed into the walkway. There was a blinding explosion as the walkway was blown in two. The sniper on the right was killed instantly, his limp corpse falling towards the ground. The other sniper remained on the partially destroyed walkway, his fingers scrambling for a hold as it began to tilt. He lost his grip and slid down the walkway. His cries echoed throughout the room as he plummeted to the floor. There was a muted thud as his body crashed into the ground. The other soldiers were furiously making their way down the staircase. The locust soldiers began firing at them. There was a thick, metallic mesh surrounding the staircase, which protected them from the firestorm of enemy rifles. The first soldiers started spilling out onto the plants floor. They sprinted for the nearest imulsion canister, desperately seeking refuge from the torrent of bullets. Michael was nearing the bottom of the staircase. Several of the soldiers had been hit, and were attempting to crawl behind cover. Each one was halted by a stream of shots. Michael dived out of the staircase and sprinted for cover. He crouched to the ground as he ran for the canister. Bullets shot past his head as he approached his target. Jon, along with several other soldiers, leant out from behind the huge container and opened fire on the locust, trying to suppress them long enough for Michael to get behind cover. He leapt through the air and crashed into the ground behind the canister. He glanced around the corner of the container. There was no cover between them and the locust, if they left their cover they’d be ripped to pieces. Michael looked around the room, frantically searching for something that could be used as cover. He looked at the staircase. His eyes lit up as he reached for another of his grenades. He began twirling it around his head. He tossed it at the base of the stairs. The explosion tore through the staircase's supports. It began leaning to one side, then fell to the floor with a tumultuous crash. Michael roared out his orders to the men, “Theta squad is going to flank ‘em while the rest of you keep them suppressed, alright. Move out.”
The soldiers ran out behind the wrecked staircase, the twisted metal arching towards the roof. Theta squad drew their weapons and moved towards the other side of the container.
“You guys ready?” asked Michael.
“Hell yeah,” replied Andrews as Jon and Jacobs nodded.
“Alright then, lets go,” said Michael, a huge grin covering his face.

Ok everyone, this is the last part of the story. Its long, so I'm going to put it in two posts so I don't scare enyone off with the wall'o'text. I hope you've all liked reading my story, cause I've loved writing it. Well, for the last time...

PART 15

Michael walked around the huge container, sweeping the room with the barrel of his rifle. His motioned to the rest of his squad, who came from behind cover and took up position behind him. They ran across the room, the echo of bullets reverberating through the air. Out of the corner of his eye, Michael saw his men battling the locust. An explosion ripped through the air as a bolo grenade exploded next to the locust’s cover. Michael and his squad kept running, desperately trying to get behind the locust without being seen. They were safe from view, the locust’s hastily constructed cover of shelves and tables obscuring their vision. Michael made it behind the second large imulsion canister. Jacobs came up beside him, followed by Andrews and Jon. Michael listened intently to the sounds of the locusts on the other side of the huge container. He heard the alien barking and snarls of the locust through the container. He crept towards the corner of the hulking canister. He motioned to his squad mates as he began checking the ammo of his lancer. The lights hanging from the ceiling were dimly reflected in the glistening blades of his chainsaw bayonet. Jon looked around the corner of the canister, searching for the locust.
“I can see five from here, there’s more at the in front of them,” Jon whispered.
“Ok, Jacobs and Andrews, you take the five at the rear. Me and Jon will take the ones out at the front,” Michael whispered back.
“What about the one in the red armour?” asked Jacobs.
“What about him?” replied Michael with a dry smile as he raised his rifle.
Jacobs and Andrews came out from behind cover; their rifles pointed at the beasts. They both began firing. A stream of bullets tore through the air and slammed into the unsuspecting creatures. As the shots from the Andrews and Jacobs’s lancers decimated the locusts at the rear, Michael and Jon ran around the canister. Bullets flew over their head as they burst around the corner of the container. They were facing the locusts that were firing at the soldiers across the room. Michael brought his lancer against his face and pulled the trigger. A torrent of shots hit one of the beasts. Blood splattered across the floor as the beast crumpled to the ground. Jon opened fire on another of the beasts. Michael ran towards one of the creatures, revving his chainsaw. The locust was shooting at the men across the room. Michael lifted the blade into the air and swung it towards the beast. The creature spun around and grabbed onto the rifle. The beast gripped the lancer tightly, the chainsaw growling next to its face. Michael strained against the locusts' immense strength. His muscles tightened as he pushed the bayonet towards the creature. Its horrible, snarling face filled Michael’s vision. Its hot breath covered his face. He made a final, desperate push, shoving the bayonet towards the beast. A horrible cry reverberated through Michael’s head as the chainsaw ripped into the creatures throat. Blood splattered against his armour as he drove the chainsaw through the beast’s thick skin. It let out a final, gurgling moan as it collapsed to the ground.

PART 15 (cont)

Behind him, Andrews and Jacobs had killed the five locusts at the rear, and focused their fire on the remaining creatures. The soldiers across the room leapt over the twisted metal of the fallen staircase and started firing at the remnants of the locust force. The beasts were caught in the crossfire of Theta squad and the rest of the soldiers. A tumultuous roar filled the cavernous room as volley after volley of shots was emptied into the scaly, white beasts. The soldiers let out a triumphant battle cry as the beasts fell to the floor, riddled with bullets. Michael began scanning the room, searching for any sign of the locust commander in the red armour. He couldn’t see it anywhere. He turned back to the firefight as the last locust stumbled to the floor, its body blown in half by the blast of a shotgun. Michael looked across the room, the bodies of his men strewn across the floor. He stared at the huge imulsion containers, towering above him. The remaining soldiers leant against the canisters, gazing at the hideous beasts they had defeated.
Michael turned around to face Jacobs. His eyes filled with terror as he saw Jacobs, the huge beast in red armour behind him, a sick smirk across its face. Michael let out a feeble cry as the creature wrapped its huge hand around Jacobs throat. Its huge, muscular arms pulsated as it lifted Jacobs off the ground, his heavy boots kicking through the air. The beast held Jacobs in front of itself, using him as a human shield. Michael leapt to his feet. His mind flashed back to the previous night. He saw Chris, blood spilling out of his throat as he fell to the ground. He wouldn’t lose another friend to these creatures. He dropped his lancer and sprinted towards the creature. He could see Jacobs face, his cheeks were glowing a deep red, his eyes were bulging. Michael was screaming at the beast as he ran across the floor. The creature let out a bone-chilling cry in return. Michael’s hand slipped to his waist and wrapped around his snub-nosed sidearm. He pulled the pistol free of its holster and raised it in front of him, his finger resting against the trigger. He fires a shot at the beast’s foot. A spurt of deep, crimson blood spilled across the stone tiles. It wouldn’t loosen its grip. Jacobs was trying to draw a breath, a weak gagging was all he could muster. Michael fired another shot, tearing a hole in the beasts shoulder. Its grip still wouldn’t waver. Jacobs’s eyes fluttered as he slipped into unconsciousness. Michael made it to the beast. He pressed the nose of the pistol against the side of the creature’s head.
“DROP HIM,” he roared, his face shaking. The creature’s head snapped around, its glowing, red eyes staring into Michael’s. It opened its mouth, revealing rows of sharp, needle-like teeth. Michael pulled the trigger, the muzzle flash reflected off the creature’s shining, red armour. The bullet tore into the locust’s forehead, blowing a gaping hole in the back of its skull as it exited. A jet of thick blood shot out the back of its head as it crumpled to the floor. It finally loosened its grip on Jacobs; he fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Michael rushed towards Jacobs, grabbed him by the shoulders and flipped him over. His head lolled backwards against the collar of his armour. Michael slipped his hand behind his head and raised it up. His eyes were closed. There were dark bruises covering his neck. Michael ran his fingers across his throat, frantically searching for a pulse. His fingertips felt Jacobs’ flattened neck. His jugular had been crushed. A single tear fell from Michael’s chin, splashing across his lifeless comrades chest plate. Andrews stood behind him, placing his hand on Michael’s shoulder. Michael cradled Jacobs in his arms, crying out for his fallen friend. His mournful laments echoed through the factory and onto the street, where the first rays of sunlight had begun shining upon the ruined city of Terran.

THE END

Well, thats it. I hope you guys like the ending. I didn't want to go with the cliched, "they killed the bad guys and went home" finish. I might write another fanfic, but not for a while. So a final thank you for your support, and I hope you have enjoyed my writings.

Cheers :)
