Installation error

When I get to disc 3 during the installation for UT2K4, I get this critical error...

Failed reading source file: D:\Textures\PlayerSkin.utx (Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).)

The source media may be bad. If installing from a CD, try cleaning the CD to remove any dirt, check your CD drive and try again.

The disc is fine. Can I manually install it? I'm going insane. Thanks in advance.

I got the same problem man I just baught the game today and its really irratating b/c things never work for me!:sulk: Someone please help!!!!!!

You could have made your own thread, instead of posting your complaint in 2 old threads..
I have a suggestion for you if you have more than 10 temporary Gigs on your harddrive.
Make a folder, just try not to name it the same as the one you are going to install the game to.
Secondly, make 6 folders, and name them each CD1, CD2 all the way to CD6. (unless you have the ECE pack, then do it to CD 10)
Thirdly: copy all the CDs to their respective folders so you have the entire UT2004 CD set on your harddrive.
Move setup.exe from the CD1 folder to the main folder that contains all the CD folders.

Run setup.exe and in theory, you should be able to install the game error free :) hope this method works for you.

ok i've tried installing 3 ways now.

1. put disc one in and follow autorun instructions
2. copy the cd's to a folder on my harddrive through highlight and drag
3. use DOS command prompt

all three ways it freezes when copying the same file from disc 1. And i get the cyclic redundancy error.

does anyone know how to get my cd-rom to read the file or, is someone willing to email me the file so i can place it in the file. It asks for the file when i try to run setup.

its Help/installerlogo.bmp , doesnt sound very important but it wants it

I can't email the file its 76 Mb for the .rar.

windows SP2, solved my problems for installing this game and playing another one i already had(it wouldn't play w/ new video card)

so i recomend trying that if anyone ever has any problem lol was a simple fix to alot of problems
