I know it has been said to check out a clans site and see what they are about in order to figure out which clan would be best for ones self.
I understand that there are those clans that are very competitive and then there are those that want to have fun and go with the flow.

Now that is not an easy task to do if you are new and have no idea about the different clans and they're status in the whole UT world.
So my question (s) would be,

is there a systymatic way one could go through the process of elimination?

I know there are different letters used and they are all different type of letters and each clan has there own style or what ever it is called for a lack of a better word.

for instance take the top posted subject in this forum and his name is like this...

-=SR=-Killer

now I believe the -=SR=- would be the clan and the killer is his handle. so the -= =- is that just something someone made up or does it actually signify something that is not apparent to me. All the clans have they're own style and design but do those little markings have meaning?

I would like to find a clan that is Honest above all, they love having fun but can live with a loss if need be. None of that , I am good and your not attitudes, and everyone has the understanding that there is someone younger and better that could replace anyone at anytime so they don't take for granted the position they are in.
Everyone is all to happy to help out and actually take them around and show them the ropes...so to speak.
Does any of this make sense to anyone.
if so please either e-mail me or post a response to this post.
thank you ever so much.

Most clan tags try to be creative by adding symbols before, after, or both.

It also helps differentiate the clan tag from the player handle.

[ABC]BobJones
*ABC*BobJones
|ABC|BobJones

etc.

As for the process of elimination... best thing to do, when I did the clan thing, is to go to their website (of course as you said), and register on their forums or find their server IP and play with them often. Get to know them and how they play. You'll find out their personality and what type of clan they are that way. And then, one of two things will happen.

1) If you are good, and they like you, they might ask you to join

2) They don't say anything, and you ask them if they are recruiting

First things first though, play with them often so that you can see if your personalities and play styles 'click' with one another.

Usually clans play a specific gametype. Join servers of the gametype you want to play, and look at the ladders on TWL (or clanbase if you're european) if you want to play in a competitive clan.

So.... for example, if you were looking for an Assault clan, you'd go to the AS ladder, and look at the AS clans. Visit their websites. Put their tags in your buddy list (by putting *'s around them), play on their servers, and generally get to know them.

For example, I'm in a clan that uses the tag KiA|. So in my buddy list, I have added the following:

KiA|*

That way, everyone in my clan with the tag on shows up.

After that, your choice should be a lot easier.
